Abeka's Our American Heritage textbook! This is in their 3rd grade history curriculum but is a great resource for many ages. It has 48 chapters covering 55 men and women throughout American history. Starting with Christopher Columbus, John Smith, and Pocahontas and going up to Barack Obama and Donald J. Trump. Each chapter shows when the person lived in a timeline and gives stories, vocabulary words, maps, and other events that are connected to that time or their life.
I've used it to connect to the history we study and to talk about people when their names come up. Definitely something that will stay on my shelf as a reference book for our family.
