It’s frustration that this senator has no idea how the government he is in control of works. How the fuck would border force know if state police, state corrections and state magistrates are cutting off ankle bracelets and attaching them again? This is like asking the postman why there isn’t a stop sign where the give way sign is. There is no clear answers to stupid questions.

Who do these people think they are? Contempt of the Senate and remedies for contempt When the actions of a witness or another person influencing a witness have the effect of obstructing the inquiries of a Senate committee (or future inquiries), those actions may be treated as contempts. Examples of such offences include: Refusing without reasonable excuse to answer a question; Giving false or misleading evidence; Failing to attend or to produce documents when required to do so; Intimidation of a witness; Adverse treatment of a witness; Wilfully disturbing a committee while it is meeting.

Clearly this data is important, and they should find a way of compiling and maintaining records. It seems quite straightforward. I agree with the other minister who wanted an assurance that the questions on notice would be answered. They seem reluctant to do so. Why don’t they care about this information? We have a lot of excellent public servants, and some not so good ones. Those in senior positions are aware that it is part of their job to be attend these sessions, answer questions and be accountable. They get paid enormous salaries, and that’s part of the job. Anyway, thanks again, James for your attention to this issue. These criminals should not be in this country.
