Ableton Live warp modes explained

This video explains the different Warp modes available in Ableton Live. Warping is the feature that brought a lot of producers to Ableton as it’s an incredibly powerful feature for time-stretching and transposing audio allowing you to bring all sorts of material together into a unified arrangement.
There are 6 modes available, each designed for specific types of material, though this can be abused to produce interesting outcomes. The various modes and their functionality are explained showing not only the functionality but also the creative application of their use.

This by far is my most favorite part of ableton. It seemingly is unique to the plugin in my opinion but I'm sure you could replicate it. Overall the warp modes have made some of the most amazing sounds that were just happy accidents

Wow thank you so much for going in depth in such a specific part. Really helps a lot. Today is day 1 of Ableton for me and I feel a little more confident about switching to it.

Great tutorial. Calm and clearly explained. Thanks. What I'm puzzled about is if different WARP modes introduces different tempo changes.. I'm trying to speed up a track, but I don't wanna speed up the Master, but individual tracks. With different Warping timing gets off. Really annoying as I can't figure out exactly what's happening. Is Warping effecting speed differently with each mode?

So I'm not sure what you mean but in this example hes changing the master pitch. There is also a pitch for each individual sample. Idk if you mean its causing you problems in a live setting as I'm sure it might. I just use this feature for sound design. I record a sound while modulating the texture one usually so I get these random as fuck artifacts and them you can also use the loop record feature to mess with the pitch of the sample :]

Is Texture or Complex Pro better for a sample ?

What are you doing with the sample? All i can say is try both and use your ears. In my opinion complex and complex pro are the best for keeping the sample sounding like the original when you're sampling a whole band or a pitched instrument. Beats sounds best if you're changing the tempo of drums only. Beats is good for rhythmic effects and turning samples into percussion instruments. Tones and texture I use for the granular effects. It's been 9 months so hopefully you figured it already

Wow. And what you said was very wrong. Free wonderful content from a voice and accent I thoroughly enjoyed only for you to put down the person who gave it. Is not that much worse than someone having a voice you don't like? If you didn't like his voice, why did you consume his content? I apologize if you're a young child and may this be the lesson to help you think before you speak. If you're not a young child, you may need to do some deep soul searching.
