You are going to love it! We received ours 2 months ago and it was well worth it! We are still learning and they also have firmware updates so not sure if there ill be a 3? However this unit replace our keyboard and our mixer channel too We love the fact you can created modern music and also that old school boombap hiphop 90's era music too If you are coming from like an asr-10 or mpc 200xl and ect like us this tool is amazing!! It reminds us of the old equipment but yet still modern and once you get use to it you can control about 98% of live with it! Great investment!! Only 1 grip is .... we wish the pads where a little bit bigger but you get use to it fast! We are having a great time going through the learning process! Have a blast, get use to it and be Patience!! This is a powerful tool and once you know it the thing can basically make you coffee!! lol

I bought this device a few weeks ago. The feature I love the most is encoders. The fact that I can tweak every parameter of my plugins with these knobs is a game changer. No need to map anything. With racks from All You Need Is Live, work is a pure joy. Today I'm gonna test it live, along with Nektar Pacer, as a guitar/bass looper and a beat station. All inside Ableton Live, no other hardware. Cheers.

Ha, so excited about this one!! I saw you mentioned you were going to cover the Push, wasn't expecting it to be so soon :D What I really appreciate in your tutorials is that it covers Techno and similar music, other tutorials about Ableton or Push often cover other genres which is more difficult to follow as I'm not as interested in those :P I got my Push two years ago, used it for a bit, it's great fun, but got overwhelmed as I didn't know Ableton very well. I'll start using it again once I'm more comfortable with stuff, hopefully soon =)

Yeah I know what you mean but it's always cool to take from other music genre tips and apply to yours ! I do that a lot. Yeah I understand that if you don't use ableton effect or rack it's hard to really use the knob, but still you can use a lot the sequencer part , like a midi keyboard..

So your going for a Push now? Do you use Ableton, I’m trying to decide what to get.
@drazzly
@drazzly 3 жыл бұрын
@@jdssurf sorry for the delay... I should have NEVER sold my Maschine. I swear the only thing I use on PUSH is the 16 pads in the bottom left hand corner, the note repeat which isn’t as good as Maschine and the play/record. It’s not helping with my creativity at all. It was quicker to cook up in maschine and export the stems to Live or even just open Maschine in LIVE than it is to grt inspired using the PUSH. For me anyways. I’ve played with the “Live Session” part too. Gotta admit, that’s pretty cool, but it more like a Novation Launch on steroids haha. Idk... I’m deep into Komplete Instruments and I just loved the NKS stuff on Maschine. Feel like I went back in time with the lack of colors on my pads and the graphics / pixels. I’m getting another Maschine ASAP. I’ll prob keep the Push until a new one comes out just to have it if I decide to do live streams and “launch” clips like a DJ would. I saw another video where the guy was like, “I think I use my keyboard more than my Push and I definitely use my mouse and computer keyboard more than I touch the Push”. With maschine, you can make the whole beat without vocals almost without touching the computer and with the Maschine +, you don’t even need a computer. Haha. Crazy times
@jdssurf
@jdssurf 3 жыл бұрын
@@drazzly thanks for the info, so if I had a keystep pro and a machine with Ableton and some synths I can pretty much do everything, except launch clips in Ableton doing live stuff? That kinda sucks though.............trying to figure out the best choice to put with my keystep pro and ableton......and some hardware synths........................
@drazzly
@drazzly 3 жыл бұрын
@@jdssurf are you just trying to produce music or play live and launch clips? If you know how to play piano with the KeyStep Pro, then all you need for producing is the Maschine and KeyStep. Then you can export the stems or even output the channels in Maschine directly into Ableton. (Too hard to explain here) If you make beats in Ableton and not Maschine, and you really like to use the “Session View” and not the “Arrangement View”, then you’ll either have to setup midi in Session View to launch clips or get a Novation Launchpad. If you’re playing live and want to launch clips, then the Push is actually really good for that! Seriously, the launching of the clips is amazing on the Push. My work flow was Maschine with the groups and then I could just build out the arrangement in Maschine. I’d come up with the melody in Maschine as well. However, creating melodies in Ableton might actually be better. You have a lot more control over the automation. It’s all just super tricky haha. It sounds like you have everything you’d need to produce already. But if you want to play live and launch clips in Ableton, definitely try the Push or Novation LaunchPad

Thanks, depend the way you produce but I guess you can still sequence and record in arrangement view. @audioreakt

Thanks, to be honest I've never try to start a track straight away in arrangement view, so hard to say, the things with sessions is that the track are displayed vertical rather than in arrangement they are horizontal. I will likely be getting a Push I do have some hard synths. Using PC Have a small keystep. So I've looked into an Oxygen, Launchkey, and some Arturia stuff, but don't know if I will need all those options if I have a Push. I like the keystep pro for controlling hard synths and it's got 4 tracks, however maybe that just needs to be a separate setup. Should I just get a nicer 49 or so midi keyboard without all the pads and such? Considering I will have a Push? Is it redundant to have a full featured midi keyboard along side the Push Should I get a fully featured midi keyboard and hold off on the Push? Certainly want something that works good in Ableton because I'm still learning it. I'm worried about these keyboards, some say pitch wheels not accurate, some say faders are horrible and so on.... Some have endless knobs, some don't, is that a major flaw? With a regular midi keyboard and a Push, what do you do about faders? So yeah I gotta upgrade from lite to suite, but need to know where to put my money Suite first, or Suite with Push package, or wait for possible Push 3, or fully functional keyboard now and Suite? Maybe a cool hard synth keyboard that also has midi, or with that take me away from nice integration with Ableton? If i do get full function midi keyboard i can pry go up to 500 bucks, but if the ones like oxygen are good, then fine, I just don't want crummy stuff, but I'm also not a baller. Any help thanks....

well we all been there, I am also myself questioniung myself like this everytime I want to purchase something new and only you got the answer it all just take time to makee the right decision, but like everything will also have flaws whatever you choose as there is no perrfect solution. It all depend your preference, if you prefer/like to play melody like on a piano then grab a midi keybord,but if you suck as music theory like me and cannot play the piano, it's better push as you have a scale mode, you have step sequencer adnd all that is way better for me who does techno. now if you like both approach just buy both if youu can. If you want a keyboard that works well with ableton, I think the Novation one are great for that (to double check though).

My concern without being able to check it out myself and watching honest reviews is that the main buttons need a lot of force to work. If I was doing basic stuff and learning it that would be fine because I would be slow. But after I was a pro at it I can see that being a mindless design considering you build these products for pros to keep. Also once a professional at it I would like to be able to quickly press many buttons without too much thought. As someone with no means to test the buttons can you say honestly how tactile they are?

@@alexanderschmitz737 the push2 ? I don't know, there is two things to consider : first akai got interesting live solution, their APC 40 Mk2 is great. You also have novation with the launchpad and launch control. Second thing, we can probably expect a Push3 or a new controler from ableton anytime soon, push2 have been there for a long time and even though it's still a great machine to buy even today, it might get an update soon ( for exemple ableton is pushing hard MPE technoligy with their vsts, and push 2 is not mpe compatible, so we can expect in a near future a new ableton controller with MPE... That being said push 2 is still a great controller but I don't know if I will take it on stage, I think I would take something like the apc 40 mk2, you can launch clip/scene, have fader, you have knob to control effect/send, you can also program and sequence I think... so yeah...

There is enough room inside to park a high powered bare bones tiny computer, and editing the firmware so it SUBST command type of overiding of various roadblocks. The same can be said about any older hardware such and synths. If the goal was to create a replacement for a laptop, it is possible to mod something, even if it seems impossible until you are able to negotiate the exacting logistics to get the desired results. Make a all in one device modded version, then sell it to ableton so they can reverse engineer it. Or sell it yourself as a new startup company, Middleage Engineering.

I would love a small MIDI controller that was JUST a mixer section with xfade, the 3 EQ bands, and a dynamic lowpass filter. One option is to repurpose a track fader of course - I have also considered using a knob on my MIDIfighter for xfade.

I don't have the Launchpad so cannot tell, but it looks like you don't have knobs, screen, therefore for sequencing it is very similar true but if you wanna control your Ableton device with it not the same. The knob to adjust a parameter or make automation is also better with push2 than with launchpad without knob... The akai APC MK2 seems a good cheaper alternative too... And the Akai force is like a standalone push but the price is double too, different machine at different price with different options...

Disagree especially if your a sample based producer knobs and sliders will always feel good . Launchpad is great if you just want to do something live but no I need sliders and fader. Another thing is drum programming im very picky about I like to adjust parameters on the go in the midddle of a beat etc. Push 2 is the THE controller for Ableton...launchpad is just that a launchpad.
