If we ever get Abomination in DD2, I think it would be really cool to tie his transformation into melting down, kinda like how Flag gets "Toxic" instead. Id like to see at least one more hero play around the concept of intentionally melting down and dealing with the relationship fallout that comes with it.

Just caught up with your other guides and now we get a new one for my goat abom, thanks for still making videos on dd1 shuff. Doing my first bloodmoon playthrough and my eldritch slayer abom has been an absolute shambler farmer

I really liked DD2 - but somehow once I beat all the bosses the first time around and unlocked everything from the altar, I fell off quickly. Watching this video reminds me of how much I still love DD1 and find the replay value much higher. I feel the urge to go in and start a new DD1 run now!

Man i loved playing abomination in DD1, I was one my fav chars besides occultist and jester, I feel kinda sad when I play DD2 and notice the fact that I won't see abomination in 3D

Shuffle with a new Darkest Dungeon vid 🙏 My favorite team to run: Occultist, Abom, Grave Robber, Bounty Hunter. I never transform Abom into the Beast. He's controls the battle with Occultist. The game names the team "Bad Karma" if you switch Abom and Grave robber places. I don't like to have GR moves to 1st after using Lunge. Still a cool name though.

Yey! Not a huge fan of DD, but Abom was always my favorite to party around - it's fun to mitigate downsides and unleash that carry beast to solo bosses! thanks for the guide - learned smth new from here for sure!

Great video, love your DD character guides! Small correction tho, Slam from Rank 4 is also not a thing in Butcher's Circus too! If Abom happens to be in that position due to a push, the player is forced to transform for the stress and just move forward.

Vanilla Darkest Dungeon players hate broken key. We got punished for no reason despite not having DLC. I don't understand why Red Hook couldn't just add stun downside only when you instal DLC instead of hard coded to entire game. Also yeah broken key is very busted trinket, it's game changer. The difference how strong character with it is day and night

Shuffle, you might not remember my comments, but a year or so ago I was a complete noob that found your content. I have never watched a singular Hero Guide of yours, but I watched enough more generalized guides to beat the game and really enjoy it. I think of all the heroes, Abomination is my absolute favorite. I haven't even watched this video yet, and I already know how dope Manacle is. Decent reach, great stuns, fine enough damage. He can self heal and manage his own stress, great for stalling and recovering after a fight. The blight move is alright if the situation for it comes up. Very few times have I found the need to press the Abom Button, but when you NEED damage or somebody's going to die, if the team is built to handle him he will shred relentlessly. He was my first Unique unit and my first Level 6. I swear by him so hard.

How to make abomb powerful: 1°-equip padlock of transference 2°-equip broke key 3°-become a stun monster with high speed and a blight monster against 2° and 3° position monsters (Only transform when you need a lot of damage really really fast)

I didn't even notice this upload! Just so glad you seem to be back with doing DD1 hero guides. I can't wait for the best one to be Crusader, he deserves the recognition as one of the best sleeper healers/stress healers!

I am so glad this series is continuing. I don't much care for DD2, but you produce some of the best DD content out there.

One team works well for me is from left to right: Crusader Houndmaster Abom Occultist What makes the team work so great is that it works no matter what you want to do with abom. If you want to transform you have more then enough stress heal to not care, and if you think transforming is unnecessary you can just put him on stun duty and let every one else focus on damage. It is a team that requires me to think ahaid a lot more then usually and ut us somewhat weak in prolonged fights but it us shockingly versatile.

This is heart warming to see ❤️, I hope you do these guides out of personal enjoyment and not out of obligation or views/etc

I was a bit surprised not to see an Audrey-Abom team at the end. It was a great chance to showcase grave robber, and this duo is amazing.

People don't think the Leper is religious? He's literally a direct reference to King Baldwin the IV of Jerusalem, the Leper King.

I actually had some good runs using an Abomination and plague doctor and Shield Bearer and utilizing those damage over time and stun effects to great success. I was forcing myself to use different team strategies and groups, and found this particular setup to work quite well. The front slot was either heavy precision damage, or buff/tank iirc. That said, Ive still never finished this game, lol. So take my comments with a grain of salt (as you should for ALL internet opinions)

Abom in butchers circus cannot use slam in rank 4, and pushing him to rank 4 is one of the best ways to counter this beast of a hero. I think he would be bountyhunter levels of insane if he could do slam from rank 4.

In Ruins, Dangerous stress Enemies almost focus on Highwayman if he have more stress than others. So he can reposte more effectively.

Human form Abomination is fine and all but as far as stun bots go there are better choices and in Human form that's mostly what he's good for. Beast form would have been better if all his skills ramped up rather than just Rake, as in giving the Abomination a smaller damage buff than 25% but making it generic and for all his skills, so say 5% on each, that way the Abomination can still ramp up his damage while not being locked to just using Rake, which in itself requires 3 whole turns to finally see some benefit in terms of single target damage. As it stands though, I can see transformed Abomination being very strong in long fights against tough bosses, if the boss remains in range of Rake or if your other party members can drag the boss into range consistently. The main difference is in the preparation for said boss fight, with the camping skills focusing more on stress reduction to not be forced to lose tempo during the fight itself without risking getting afflicted. Is this a winning strategy? Hard to say considering Leper requires much less work to get going, thus lowering the opportunity cost of building for the Abomination which makes the rest of the party stronger, but still requires setup of his own. In long fights the Abomination will absolutely out-scale the Leper if he can consistently just spam Rake however the Leper actually does offer flexibility if that isn't the best option in a given turn. Than you have other strategies like marks, DoTs, etc, which tend to be more consistent than either the Abomination or Leper and are generally the preferred boss killing methods.

Why doesn't darkest dungeon 2 not feel as "satisfying" as darkest dungeon 1?

Easily my favorite pair with GR, for the + damage against blight. Basically sets up damage for GR and CCs. Only ever transform when a shuffle knocks the frontline out of position and I need damage.

Great video! I usually keep only 1 Abomination in my roster, mostly for the sake of variety. Pretty silly that the best way to play a transforming character... is to keep him in his regular form and have him slap things with chains. Are there any good rework/rebalance mods that give him more options, but don't completely change the character? Could be a nice change of pace in new DD1 campaign.

Got the game on Switch last week and I am planning to do full DLC runs before I think of buying more games! Just one question: should I grind to upgrade gear or Hero Levels before I try to defeat Bosses (Necromancer and the other mentioned under "Successfully completed first foray" on that screen starting the week) or do I just need strats and trinkets?

I completed dd1 a couple times but I have never gotten the trinket that increases stun chance. In anycase, I love abom conceptually though I ended up using two in my team in the ruins for a lot of blight and stuns. Surprisingly simple character despite what he might initially appear as.
