The complete history of the Gothic Sector War. Covering Abaddon the Despoilers attempts to gain control of the various Blackstone Frotresses from the Imperium of man. The Battlefleet Gothic of the Imperial Navy and the Forces of Chaos fight a massive war for the Sector drawing in the Xenos races of Orks and Eldar, as well as many others.
Ties in with my recent readings of Execution Hour and Shadow Point by Gordon Rennie which covers these events by following the crew of the Lord Solar Macharius under the command of Commodore Leoten Semper.

The Gothic War's story is such a seminal part of what defines the 40k lore's feel. It's one of my all-time favourite pieces of fluff, blending gigantic "sailing ship" fleet battles, military sci-fi, and grimdark cosmic horror. Plus, it lays the groundwork for so many important following events. For me, it's up there with the Badab War and the Gathering Storm.

I played BFG back in the day, and then when armarda came out and I played the campaign, I had reactions like ... I recognise that name to Oh God Emperor I cannot let chaos succeed in this mission for I already know what happens if they do. The game was masterfully done.

You are better than 90% of the Audible readers because you are not bound to their auto editing of time between words. You can modulate your speed and tone to fit the text, and it makes the content clearer. Their efforts to make their books easily sped up and slowed down makes them slow and stilted. Keep it up, master.

Humorously, does anyone wonder that the only reason imperial ships get to a century old or older, by the fact it takes them that long to get fully fitted with supplies, personal, support craft, etc and then tracking down the fleet they had been assigned to 10 year's prior to the ship's commission is completed? On a more serious note, been really looking forward to this lore video since its announcement, absolutely great work both with the lore itself and the accompanying video. Keep up the awesome work and looking forward to the next one.

Gotta say, after the destruction of that entire system by Abbadon with the 3 black stone fortresses, I’m kinda feeling like the imperials should just scuttle the rest to prevent them falling into Abbadons hands considering how powerful they are for him and how much less powerful they are for the imperials. Yes they are massive space stations, but when Abbadon can just turn them off and you can not wield them to their full potential like he can, it seems like it only poses a danger for them to remain in existence. Or at the very least, if they know he’s moving to one specifically I think there’s a strong case to destroy it such as is happening here 48:42. That said, I obviously understand why the imperial commanders don’t give that order, I guess I just felt like this was the best response and wanted to throw it out there lol.

I am writing lore for my 40k tabletop campaign and be damn sure, that the big Chos invasion coming will be based on Gothic war. It did much better job, showing Black Crusade/large Chaos incursion, than Fall of Cadia/old Eye of Terror campaign.

It was a book about a alien warrior that seen the girl he loved as a young man (they weren't human all I remember is they were bigger than the humans in the book) again for the first time in a long time and she had a new young warrior with her he was jealous of at first until he realized it was his son..... Does that sound like any Warhammer book you've ever read? Or is my memory just playing tricks on me?

The Imperial Navy is the best. With a more powerful navy whole worlds and system could be saved. It does not matter if men live short lives, are weaker, more fragile and less intelligent when you're in a powerful ship. The best equaliser.
