The life begins at conception argument also means that physicians and nurse practitioners now can’t place IUDs as a contraceptive since it disrupts the implantation of a fertilized egg. It also limits those grey areas where an oncologist might start chemotherapy in a pregnant mother. It forces child rape victims into having a baby they don’t want. It makes 16 year old girls who were pressured into having sex with a boyfriend to deliver, even if the fetus is non-viable or with severe abnormalities. It silences AZ providers on discussing options outside of the state. It means people with bipolar mania that get pregnant during a manic episode will face higher prospects of suicide. The list goes on.

Everyone calm down, the supreme court was pretty clear this issue is up to the people. They affirmed the (admittedly old) law as it was in 1864 because it was basically superseded since the 1970s. Read the published opinion as they go into the history and origin of the law. In a way the Arizona law was in stasis until Roe v Wade was overturned. The Supreme Court could not just change the law. They did the correct thing and kept the integrity of the law by not changing it. Now, Arizona can go through the proper process of voting to change (or keep) the law and as the news reports, it will likely be a main issue or "thee" issue coming up next election.
