people didn't complain about gun upgrades as micro transactions in RE4 so of course now we get more of those. capcom has been at it for a while but people are just now noticing it

Many things can be true: • Dragon's Dogma 2 is a phenomenal game with outstanding combat and atmosphere, and if you sunk hundreds of hours into the 1st, you'll have a great time. •Microtransactions and shit pc ports are awful, and it's completely justified to he disappointed and upset about these issues.

The fly in my soup is that they released a character creator with 5 slots for making arisen and 5 slots for main pawns giving an expectation that we would have more then one profile. We currently can't even restart the game SMH.

Clear as day when Ubisoft started putting xp boosts and resource packs in their games. Somehow they kept taking longer and longer to finish and you needed more and more stuff to upgrade things....strange

I'm playing on PS5 and I've had zero issues with performance. ZERO. The game is wonderful and plays great.

My favorite kind of micro-transaction, one I can completely ignore and feel like I'm not missing anything (no micro-transactions would be better though).

The performance issue is really the main problem. It not only makes it not accessible for low to medium end pc, it also hinders the overall experience and fun you are expecting. Nobody wants to play a shuttering mess of a game even if it is the best game ever.

Let's be Honest here if the game worked with no crashes and was well optimized on launch it would not have gotten this much hate

The story is congruent to the first in a sense that also makes little sense, it's complicated but simple. The pawns acknowledged this when mentioning other worlds, they don't necessarily mean dragons dogma 2's world. It also encompasses dragons dogma 1, it makes little sense I know but that's just how it works.

I think it's worth pointing out a couple things: 1: the infinite ferrystone is unique to Dark Arisen, not the base DD1. Capcom did this kind of "let's soften things up a bit" rebalance on DDDA, with many more portcrystals and a slight easing of restraints, as well as packaging in all its DLC. 2: All the DLCs of DD2 are actually just Deluxe Edition's content. If Capcom had just put "upgrade to deluxe edition" as a button instead of DLCs, it would've been better optics. The real issues of Dragon's Dogma really are the performance and the inability to cleanly start a new game. It's a lot of shit in the way before you can even judge it for a game of such a high price on its own merits.

I'm amazed by your honesty! This is why I started watching your videos. My decision on dd2 was I don't have enough money to buy it, nor good enough pc to play it, so I would better off buying a game or 2 for the same price that actually will able run on my PC. My viewpoint on microtransaction is, that it's like a scummy game feature that you can't disable it. Gamers who want use every single advantage of what the basic game offers. If this becomes the norm which is already is, and then they start tweak the game, tailoring more toward that people actually have to use it. Mobile games are prime example for this.

I'm on pc and have been having fun. Asus AMD Advantage edition holding 50-60 frames on high settings. I forgot they even included microtransactions. They're really not needed.

I've played 9 hours so far and I just started to think the same thing. I haven't seen ANY microtransactions INSIDE the game. I was wondering about that until I realized that those microtransactions were outside of the game under DLC. Then it clicked. The freakout, the rage... it was because of that. And because of that rageout, I was under the impression that to edit my character I would have to buy the MTX. However, an hour into the game, I found a barbershop. Lo and behold among the hairdressing options, there was a character edit option. It required an item. I assumed that what the MTX was for. Except, not five minutes later, I found a NPC that sold said item for the same currency that you can use to spawn pawns higher than your own level. So uh, I already found how to edit the characer without spending real money. If I hadn't been told about microtransactions, I would have NEVER known there were any. In my opinion, people have severly overreacted to this. Microtransactions are bad, sure, but they are the worst when they are in your face, can't get around. In the case of DD2? They are so far away from your face that you wouldn't know about it if people wouldn't tell you about it.

Before micro transactions we had cheat codes that did the same thing. People shouldnt even have the option to consider buying things like fast travel crystals in a full priced single player game. Players should have full control over their game. If they want to cheat in a singleplayer game it should be free with cheat codes, not profited off. A lot of devs and publishers are taking advantage of this younger generation that have grown up thinking microtransactions are no big deal.

If you know Dragon's Dogma 1, the challenge was always about surviving the journey to the goal. It is the basis of the game, so fast travel doesn't work here. Too many people never played DD1, so they don't get it. These microtransactions here are minor optional extras. If it was "pay to win" then I'd agree, but it's not.

I agree I thought that same thing when I realized the micro transactions were “supplemental.” It reminds me of the capcom games in movie theaters, “pay 50 cents to keep going.” And then I realized that’s them trying to make good micro transactions COMPARED to other games with their huge transactions. It reminds me of the story of "rested XP" in WoW. Even if the underlying system is the exact same, how it is presented changes how people feel about it. Adding those Microtransactions turns every grind/annoyance in the game from a design decision the player may or may not understand the reason for into a decision that was made with malice to try and extort the player. That change holds true even if the microtransactions were crafted on after the game was completely finished.

Remember fighting games back in the day? Beat arcade mode with a character which then unlocked another character for you. Now it's all seasons of dlc. Granted there was no online play back then. But I still miss getting rewarded for playing the game

I just saw some gameplay on Twitch last night and it looks absolutely fantastic, streamer was fighting some Undead Litch Boss & he had awesome movesets, I’ll definitely get it at some point but my only issue is I wish we could still be able to farm the fast travel items even if it was rare to get but if it limits us too much that we think we need to buy it, I think it sucks! I’ll use an example Imagine if Dark Souls creators made you buy Humanity & you couldn’t farm the rats in the sewers…there needs to be a good enough balance otherwise people might not want to buy the game. The main culprit is performance issue notably how CPU demanding it is when you run into towns. Remember that Yakuza Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth has 91% positive rating on steam while pay walling basic feature (NG+) which is only available for $85/$110 editions. In reality, people generally don't care as long as the game runs good.

Isn’t another issue that the game doesn’t have a start new game, and on top of that you can’t create more than 1 character for new playthroughs? I remember playing the first game and that didn’t have the ability to create more than 1 character for some reason.

Got a 3070 and I get a solid 60 when I’m out traveling and stuff. Once I hit the main towns I dip down to 40 or 50. This is with ray tracing off and everything on high.

I just truly hope that people will be able to play their games soon enough that are experiencing these performance and crashing issues😔 About the Microtransactions thing you are correct that is definitely a choice upon the person you really don't have to purchase it if you choose not to also I definitely agree that it is truly a really scummy practice and it shouldn't have been added in a single player game in the first place😕 All in all I haven't experienced any of the issues yet Capcom should had better tested this correctly before releasing it to PC as well hopefully everyone does their best to try to calm down as well because it only makes it worse on both sides😣

This was proven a long time ago with Shadow of War (sequel to Shadow of Mordor): it had an online cash shop, and when it was removed they had to re-balance the game.

Being able to delete and restart from the beginning is actually a core game feature. This game is an actual game that does not give you base game functions.

Port crystals drop like candy from vendors 😅 My only issue is the save file being locked to one character when the demo showed multiple character slots.

Only had an issue with crashing during character creator in either in game or in the character creator demo thing you get to make a character before actually going in game. I’ve got an older pc about 8 yrs now but I can play the game without a problem but when I’m in the character creator I have the chance of the game crashing weather in the actual game or when in the character creator demo thing. Not a big problem but if it crashes more than three times I just get off it and play helldivers or something else that’s appealing at the time.

I have a middle-of-the-road couple-year-old PC and I have had almost flawless performance on high settings. 1080p master race.

As a Ps5 player I am having a great time. Haven't even noticed the microtransactions, about 30 hours in and it SLAPS.

Some people need to remember that Dragon's Dogma 1 had many microtransactions, and a lot of people were upset back in the day. In fact, they are almost the same microtransactions we have now in DD2, and many of the items you can buy with money can also be obtained with Rift Crystals, just as it was in the days of DD1 until Dark Arisen came along, bringing with it all the DLC included in the original Dragon's Dogma. So, maybe when the expansion comes, it will include all the DLC again. It seems that CAPCOM didn't learn their lesson with DD1.

I wonder if the money they made on the transactions will cover the missing sales from them existing.

It's greed and laziness, pure and simple. Hating games that do this isn't jumping on the bandwagon anymore, it's the correct response.

It's definitely important context to say how the DLC/Microtransactions were added last minute without people expecting it - None of it being mentioned at all before release. This led some people to believe "Oh they got the good reviews then added the MTX" The surprise of this added a ton of fuel onto the fire. It's not the best business plan

Imagine if Elden Ring or Dark souls sold healing items. THAT is the problem we have with microtransactions, sure it might not matter but it fkn ruins the game experience and it shouldnt be there in the first place AT ALL.

The on release microtransactions are the problem. The actual items are actually worthless, you can get something like a few thousand rift crystals by just playing the game for a few hours, you get an infinite key as soon as you get to the capital city, the port crystals have a cap that you can get by just playing the game, and the only really good spots to put them are in the capital, and guess where there is a static port crystal? The tent is a scummy thing to add since its better then the other tents, but only in terms of how heavy it is, and that is sort of an advantage. Oh, and the wakestones, you will be swimming in them by the end of the game, and the auto save is super aggressive, after each fight you will have a save, so if you get killed, you will loose like two minutes at most. The only thing in there that isnt just a cheap scam is the sound track mod, and that is honestly kinda cool thing to add, should have been something you got from doing an achievement or something. To me it looks like the devs didnt want any microtransactions at all, but the day before launch some executives came inn and said that they needed microtransactions because all the popular games have microtransactions.

I'm yet to try Dragon's Dogma 2, but I played the hell out of the first game and I remember that they had similar microtransactions for Rift Crystals and Ferrystones. By the end of it I had millions of crystals and about 100 ferrystones that I didn't even need because I got the Eternal one that had unlimited uses. Those paid items would only make a difference in the beginning of the game, and honestly I think that difference would be negative. The fun of it was having to traverse the map by foot at first, and then each time you beat the game you had a couple extra teleport spots for your next run. If DD2 is the same, then those microtransactions are equally useless and would only hinder your experience if you did get them. I don't know though because people are talking more about the things surrounding the game then the game itself, which maybe is just because of the performance issues that make it so people can't even play the game lol

This is mostly just a repeat of Dragon’s Dogma 1’s launch. If you disagree, I’d suggest you go watch (or at least try to stomach) Angry Joe’s 11 year old review, which within the first minute or two talks about how the game bombards you with the optional dlc which was almost exactly the same. I think the big difference is social media. I did know anyone who really gave a shit about twitter or Reddit or anything like that. When Dark Arisen came out later, all that optional dlc was all bundled into that package, along with other items like the eternal ferrystone. You still needed to play the game a while to get the single character edit. You had to play quite far into it to unlock unlimited editing. I already know how good the first game was. I got it 5 times between 4 systems. I had 2 level 80 original characters, and 3 Dark Arisen level 200 characters. I’m just happy to have new content after a decade, and if other people don’t like it, that’s fine, but it hasn’t changed the metrics even a little from the game that came out 11 years ago. How we communicate about it has. Everyone is trying to hype games up lately as if the industry has been lacking, but between this game and Helldivers, you are just getting the exact same games you never played the first time.

I can agree to an extent that MTX in a $70 single-player game is madness, but coming from someone who played DD1 religiously, and grew up playing a plethora of games that expect YOU to put in work and don't hold your hand, Dragon's Dogma 2 is fucking fantastic. I've had zero issues on my PS5, and I've been having a blast. It's been awesome. I've already gotten 5 ferrystones, and I've only used 2. When I genuinely needed them. I put the first Portcrystal I got near an elven city, and it is currently my hub where I start to continue my journey after putting my spoils away and resting. The MTXs are there for lazy toddlers that don't want to adventure in their adventure game. I don't want you guys playing Dragon's Dogma 2, anyway. You're not welcome there.

What do you mean Ferry stone isn't in the game? Merchants in game will have them sometimes and ive found a couple myself by exploring. They're rare, yeah but they exist.

After playing through my first playthrough of the game on PS5 I can say this respectively: The game itself is great, the liveliness overall in the game is grand. My first playthrough was really enjoying every step I took. The story was fun. NPC interactions openly with enemies as you travel is awesome as well. Combat is great too. Nothing complex. I would say overall this game is a great casual RPG game to play to unwind. But there came these walls in the game that really honestly make me dislike it more and more when I play it. It seems this game gave QOL gimmicks to avoid DD veterans grinding out the game optimally. Which really tatters the experience of first playthrough and even NG+ playthrough. Here's a few of them: 1. Resting to be able to restore your health bar fully. This was a change that was needed for sure. With the issue at hand that you can access your pouch, mid-combat, pausing the game to heal/cure debilitations/buff/access items/etc makes the game very "easy" in a sense. So, them giving the QOL as to where over time the more hits you take in combat, the less you can heal until you rest again is balanced in itself. But that becomes a gimmick more often than not in account of the fact that resting at Inns are WAY WAY more expensive in this game compared to DD1, and gold can be challenging to get organically early game and even NG+ unless you are doing the exploits that people are currently doing. You can purchase houses as well eventually; most are reasonable prices too. Sure, camping is another QOL thing to consider that is positive in some sense, which also is great for being able to cook food for temporary buffs while traveling. But that itself has its own issues. Example, camping in the same location numerous times punishes you by getting ambushed by enemies. Which over time the more it frequently happens with said tent, the tent is destroyed. So, farming in the same spot on respawns for enemies is more complicated in this game, and that is just with the tedious QOL gimmicks hindering you to optimally do it as we used to in DD1. Eventually when you hit end game (SPOILERS WARNING): You will be able to access a post-game world where the grind is real, and the incentives are high. But the gimmick behind this post-game grind, is that you cannot rest, or the game will force you into NG+. The issue isn't the difficulty in this post-game grind itself, it's rather easy to fly through if you manage. Wakestones can help reset your max health bar if the threshold is low, as well as Allheal Elixers, which you'll get a decent amount of beforehand if you are saving them. You will be able to access said post-game gear in NG+, but the grind is worth more doing in this post-game state. And just with one playthrough, you can get a decent amount of credits for a few weapons and maybe a set of armor. But if you want to be a completionist with grabbing it all and taking your time, it's a drag. Not only for the credits needed for gear/upgrades/bonuses/ but also the enemies that appear there have materials you need for end game gear upgrades. This QOL itself alongside the gimmicks punishing players that want to farm for gear and materials to upgrade said gear becomes taxing for myself. 2. Ferry stones are very few throughout the game until the post-game grind. You can get a "decent" amount to travel where you need to travel playing the game free-hand. But in actuality, when you really need them, you are probably low on them. I'm really confused as to why they wouldn't give us a quest to whereas we could acquire an eternal ferrystone, even if it was a tedious or challenging quest itself. SPOILERS: The Sphinx questline surprised me because I thought it would have rewarded us the eternal ferrystone we all know from DDDA, but it instead gives us a "Eternal Wakestone" that doesn't even match the description. It's a one-time use AOE wakestone to counter Dragonsplague. Which at first I was worried hearing about, but it's extremely manageable and not an annoying gimmick as most people think it is. Look for signs and symptoms on pawns (red eyes, looking sick when they are standing around or walking, and agitated responses off of your commands). Then unsummon those pawns if they are the culprit(s), if it's your pawn, thrown them into the brine or kill them and resummon from the Rift. Easy stuff. Aside that, I'm surprised they didn't reward us the OG eternal ferrystone from the Sphinx's questline and battle. Yes, it was from the DLC of DD1, but there's plenty of weapons and gear from DDDA (the DLC) that came back into this game. Plus, traveling is horrible even with an oxcart due to ambushes. It's not even the enemies that can damage your cart, but you or your pawns can too during combat. Which forces you to HIKE ALL THE WAY WHERE YOU NEED TO GO FROM WHERE THE CART IS BROKEN. Yes, you can acquire an augment that makes you not get ambushed via oxcart. But why would that even be a "bonus" for an augment? It's really pushing QOL gimmicks in this game in such a weird and unwarranted way. I have to either A. Keep that augment on my character (as I want the augments that I want on my character I unlocked for the best build), or slap it on and off by running to the guild vocation station every time I am done with ox carting my way town to town? All tedious and pushy it seems. They should also add the option to purchase ferrystones at the Rift shop as well, and cap it at 99 in stock until NG+ resets it. Even if they were scummy and placed the eternal ferrystone as an mtx for like 3 bucks, I would gladly buy it to end my suffering lmao. 3. The physics in this game are great. I love the rag doll mechanics with everything. It's funny, it's cool seeing you slap a Saurian halfway across the screen off a cliff with a Warrior Class or spin cycle a group of enemies with a tornado as a Sorcerer. But when you are on the receiving end of it, it's absolutely awful. I know stagger resistances are a thing, but damn, that shit is debilitating when you are caught in the middle and are being jumped or stun-locked to death nearly. Even if I heal through pausing, I don't want to burn through 20 curatives to withstand one session of enemies jumping/stun-locking me because my character is lifelessly on the ground and has horrid recovery times. It seems overall these issues are the biggest issues for me personally. It really sucks the fun out of an honestly fun sequel to Dragon's Dogma. I am not enjoying my second play-through, and I really want to get all the end game gear so I can feel accomplished. The grind is wrong in this game. People are coping with exploits that are in game to resolve their problems in game that we all can relate to. The developers really wanted to wall people off with end game grinding properly. I enjoyed farming Offline Ur-Dragon over and over again at end game when I could to get my gold's worth. I enjoyed godsbaning reset to get my armor and weapons upgraded or rng drops on BBI items. Capcom always listens to their fans, they are very responsive. So I am hopeful they listen well and adapt. This game is very good. But such crappy QOL gimmicks and forced walls of inconveniences to enjoy the grind. They should reflect off of what made people happy grinding in DD1:DDDA.

Well what are the real profit margins for a game? Dragons Dogma 2 you could say has an upcoming niche market, and the micros work to support the game for future development. They don’t work in a way to affect gameplay/ dragons dogma is an unknown IP.

Frame Gen Get the 3.6 DLSS dlls. Get the DLSS3 enabler for the game. Get the nukem9 mod universal version dll if you crash during Capcom splash screen disable nvidia overlay and delete shader.cache2 from exe file will probably have to delete shade.cache2 each startup of game

The thing that almost made me uninstall and refund is not being able to have multiple saves or a simple "new game" function and that I had to go through a bunch of hoops to get around the cloud and waste more time remaking my character cause I can't access the character creator.

This was very well put, and I hope more people can "agree to disagree" , not only for a videogame but for other aspects of life. People has grown too divided; we need to chill. More than 1 thing can be true and valid at the same time.

I'll get it just like I got the original Dragon's Dogma: years later on steam for 5 bucks during a sale with all the DLC and add ons included.
