Welcome to the first episode of About Town, a new series from Stab and Summer Bright in which we explore, with gusto, the most vibrant pockets of Australian surf culture. We’re all fond of a road trip, or a weekend getaway; It’s the Australian surf dream. And if you happen to live in Oz, there needn’t be any reason why you should look beyond its coastlines.
It was Stab and Summer Bright’s wish to unfold the secrets of what makes some of our favourite surf towns great: Where to get coffee, where to surf, where to jump off, who to watch out for in the lineup, where to dine, where to enjoy some post-surf suds, and more. And of course, we tapped some local pros to be our hosts.
We chose surf towns that haven’t been overly-documented. For our first episode, we skipped Coolangatta, wonderful though it is, instead looking further north to its lesser known cousin, the Sunshine Coast.
