Edward did a fantastic job in the film, didn't he! I remember hearing this story once before. Essentially, Selena's father, Abraham, thought that Edward had an over-inflated ego because he didn't listen to a single word that he had to say that night. Fortunately, the producer of the film, Moctesuma Esparza, changed his mind. He basically told Abraham that that's Hollywood for you, that most of the actors in Hollywood have over-inflated egos, and that he'd be hard-pressed to find an actor in Hollywood that didn't have one, lol! So, he simply asked him to just give Edward James Olmos a chance. Fortunately, he did and the rest is history! Now, I never met Edward James Olmos personally but I never got the impression that he's egotistical (based on the interviews that I watched and the commentary I listened to where Edward was speaking about a character that he portrayed in a film). Now, he's a very skilled and confident actor and he was always very dedicated to the roles that he portrayed in films. I never got the impression that he's arrogant or egotistical though. Maybe he just gave Abraham a bad first impression because he was initially a little overzealous, really coveted the role, and wanted to do the film justice. Idk. IMHO, he's an extremely talented actor! I especially loved the concert scene where Selena takes off her jacket and reveals the bustier that she had made. Her unwitting father almost had a heart attack when he spotted her wearing it on stage, lol! That scene was simply hilarious! Now, I can't imagine Abraham being portrayed by any other actor.

@@reinaldojoselugo2682 Maybe, maybe not. Neither you nor I know how JLo’s life would’ve turned out had she not starred in Selena. All we know are the facts. Starring in Selena jump started her acting career, she started getting more lead roles and starring in bigger films. Selena also partly inspired her music career. After filming Selena, JLo was feeling her Latin roots, and recorded a demo in Spanish. Which eventually made it’s way to Tommy Mottola, who later signed her to his label. Not too long after she recorded “On the 6”. Selena played a huge part in JLo’s career. As I said before JLo said numerous times how grateful she is for that role. People are always going to ask questions & want to talk about Selena with him, that's her father & the only thing he's ever been known for. Plus with the public's extremely hungry appetite of still wanting to learn more about her (more so with this upcoming younger generation) he's never going to be able to turn it off by no means because Selena's obviously never going to be forgotten by anyone even after she's been gone now longer than she was even alive.
