The biggest problem is that cable sports has gotten so repetitive with the same programs with different names on all day that people drifted to podcasts and talents like Pat McAfee because they were offering something new with a lightness that stopped being on cable sports. McAfee was funny. He didn’t lecture people about issues. The gang on his show laughed more. One guy smoked a cigar. People wanted to watch sports programming and chill. One ESPN program with Max Kellerman and Keyshawn Johnson and J Will had little chemistry between Max and his fellow cast mates. Max mostly watched them talk. Podcasts offered change and inventive ways to approach sports programming.

ESPN overpaid for the NFL games. But this network has been sinking for a minute already. All of their opinion-based shows parrot each other's inane content daily. If you watched from the morning until the evening, you would hear repetitive garbage getting dissected to a point of morbid unrecognizability. On two shows in particular, "Get Up" and "First Take," they give their viewers 20-minute segments on a particular subject; that's _at least_ 15 minutes too long. They can only argue a point _to_ a point before it becomes a battle of egos to see who can defeat who-like a sport. Also, during those two shows, it's the middle of baseball season, but all they talk about is either the NBA or NFL. And I get that those two sports are far more popular than the MLB. But we're in the middle of the baseball season! The All-Star Game is only a week away! ESPN is an alleged "sports" network, which means they cover _most_ sports, even baseball. The NBA just ended; although the draft just happened, they'll talk about that for weeks! The NFL officially begins in September. So _right now,_ they _should be_ talking about baseball. ESPN sucks anyway. Those who were fired could pool their cash and start a new sports channel, although I would advise against it. Because the television medium isn't long for the dinosaur bone yard. They should just write where they can make cash and run their own podcast. Or just go to other networks. But really, WHO CARES!? These people have more cash than all of us COMBINED. They'll be JUST FINE.

@@willforeverpubg4235, yeah, it's pretty boring stuff. And ESPN has been losing viewers to FS1, the MLB Network, and other avenues for sports information for a while now. And what I wrote is a prime reason why. If it weren't for sports bars, bars in general, or airports always generically airing their channel, ESPN would have folded _years_ ago. 😝

Espn and nobody else loses money on football. What killed espn is the NBA. They overpaid for something that gets worse rating than reruns of friends or shark tank.
@Silence_Duder_Gooder
@Silence_Duder_Gooder Жыл бұрын
@@Brian-tx1pq, overpaying for a product doesn't necessarily mean they "lost money," it just means they overpaid for that product. I never said that's _why_ they lost money. But part of their move to let go of all of those people was for that very reason. $500 million worth, in fact.😝 And I _did_ bring up those other shows that are tanking because they suck so much.

So all these houses that no longer subscribe to ESPN representing Billions of lost revenue, begs the question, why did they go? Oh, could it be WOKE go Broke? Don't pee on my boots and tell me it's raining. I'm one of those homes. About the only time I would tune into ESPN was for an actual game of interest. None of the talk shows, just games.
