I feel for the people who ate the bath tablets, I really do. I once gave a friend a ginger-scented soap from Lush that was shaped like a gingerbread man. The resemblance to an actual biscuit ended there as it looked similar to Pears soap. The friend I gave it to used to drink ginger and lemon 'tea' every morning until he realised that the ginger was actually giving him headaches. Knowing that he still loved the smell of ginger, I thought that the soap would be the next best thing. I handed it to him but, before I could say anything, he had already bitten the head off and was enthusiastically chewing. I gasped so hard that I winded myself and couldn't speak. He was still happily chewing when I finally managed to wheeze out, "It's soap!" at which point, his tastebuds engaged with his brain and he spat it out in all directions. The rest of the day was spent with him trying to get rid of the aftertaste and me trying to get my laughter under control. We both failed.

Postman pat was completly translated into Dutch (and often English shows get translated REALLY well into Dutch). He was called Pieter Post Which would be Peter Post in English I guess. Postman Pat and P(i)eter Post both have a nice ring to it works so well.

Yakult (and other probiotics) definitely help. Some people get enough probiotics from their daily diet but others need more. Especially people who take antibiotics and such. I had IBS because of antibiotic over prescription and probiotics was the only thing that helped me. I only consume them maybe once or twice a week now~

I’ve a bad stomach and it was absolutely bomb proof while I was traveling Japan for a few weeks. I attribute it to drinking calpis everyday, made a resolution to stick to probiotics when I got home and have had a yakult every morning for like 4 months now. Nope, business as usual. I’m 100% sure Yakult isn’t as effective as Calpis for me.

the charm of Post man Pat (or for me the Dutch dubbed Pieter Post) Was or still is that indeed the stories where simple but also very human. Also it helped that the tempo of that show was quite mallow. the contrast with most other kids tv shows was very big.

6:55 I wonder which video Chris refers to, assuming he doesn't mean the podcast KZfaq channel with the release 10 days before recording, I can't see how it's something else than the "How Expensive is it to Travel Japan? 🇯🇵 2 Weeks on $1,000" video. Hard to imagine such a video tanked since AFAIK travel related content is popular, but I can't remember the old thumbnail...

Besides having saved your holiday/birthday/events money over time are what some did. I pretty much had all of mine saved untill the age of 9 when I got very interested in Lego. Probably had around 1-1.5k USD at that age saved over all events. Since even grandparents gave me money as an infant to put it into a savings account.

Does anyone actually believe that the kid who was "scammed" was selling freely? He was bullied before so the other kids did most likely pressure him to give them the money for the tat the "offered". They most likely thought that it would be illegal if they just stole it but *selling stuff* is totally legal, right? So there are 3 to 5 kids who stand around this one bullied kid and say: "you will be really sorry if you don't buy this for 50K yen, *do you understand* " ...yeah, sure, they _scammed_ him ... I know how bullying works. It's "give me your lunch money" with extra steps and on a bigger scale.

It may be my age and privilege showing, but I wouldn't even consider a hostel at this point in life. I did when I was 21 visiting for the first time and it was nice enough, but I didn't really feel comfortable having bought a ton of stuff and just having it stashed around my bunk bed (only some fit in the locker they provided). For the same reason capsule hotels are mostly a novelty, I highly recommend trying it but only for one night. If you get a business hotel that isn't on a major hub like Shinjuku, you can go almost as cheap, and you get your own (tiny, possibly smoke flavoured) room. Especially now post-pandemic I wouldn't like to share a room with a ton of strangers.

Many a 40-plus-ish Norwegian know Postman Pat. it is 100% brilliant - just look how the suspension dips when he gets in his car. Talk shit about Pat and I'm gonna fight ya lol. But then again the country postman was actually a thing as well. You cashed in your pension or paid your bills via the local postman back then.

it not really pocket money, you know the red envelope that you gift to kids in new year in east asia? Some uncles and aunts do like to flex and some kid really don't buy anything outside of pocket money. Another reason is it an indirect way to gift money to a family as a whole. I did have about 1-1.5k USD before mom take it to build our current house in my 3rd grade XD. It actually made me proud that contribute to my family at that age. When you grow up and actually use money, the number go down unfortunately... and now i'm the one who give out money :)

Walking 10,000 steps may be good, but it is not based on science. A Japanese company is said to be the source of “walk 10,000 steps a day.” The company made a pedometer. The Kanji for 10,000 looks a bit like a man walking, so the company may have derived the right number of steps to take per day from that resemblance.

If you ever doubt you can cycle again, Chris, remember that... you're in the amphetamine capital of the world. Stock up in Tokyo and you either complete the trip or die of a heart attack. Jokes aside though; what's the truth about that "rumour"? Like it smells pot you're fucked, but because of the "work ethic" everyone is 100% speedfreak all the time. Comments on casual drug use in Japan? 'Cause you know, everybody parties - and It's an underreported thing, if you don't want sensationalism. What's the real deal on drug use in Japan?

Chris I enjoy your videos but please stop collaborating with that annoying Buffoon Pete Donaldson. He is irritating, not interesting, often doesn't listen and constantly talks over you. He just seems to use your platform to likely boost his own inferior platform and to hear the sound of his own voice. Also in reference to your content - there is more to life and Japan than just food and cycling and clowning around. What about meeting and sharing videos with local interesting whacky people and characters and also places (that aren't food related)? Wasn't that your plan for new content not long ago? That video you did with Ken Watanabe was one of your best videos by far and I am sure you will agree.
