Absolute best way to peel Oranges!! Pith-free and easy

I like to eat oranges because they are cheap and tasty, so I tried to figure out what the best way to peel them is. I determined that the best way involved using a knife!

How would you suggest to get the white crap off that would be faster than scratching the whole Orange sometimes - other times there's not a ton of pith after I peeled the orange, but for those annoying times when my peeled orange is white - I would like suggestions rather than your opinion on what he did with the orange?

Also I have not tried either at this time but other suggestions on getting the pith off an orange that I have found have you boil it for 5 minutes in the peel and that seems like it would destroy the orange to me which is why I continued looking - I don't want to eat a cooked orange at this time and it's summer so it's too hot to boil oranges for nothing more than an experiment to see if it works better on pith but it also wouldn't really solve my issue which is that I'd like to eat oranges in bed and I'm not going to boil and peel oranges so they're no longer in their natural wrapper and need stored differently...

@@jenndreis2500 First off that "white crap" which is called the pith is the healthiest and best part of the orange. It contains more vitamin C than the rest of the orange. Eating the pith (which is very mild and not bitter, burning, or sour like the outer skin, which many people perceive) along with the flesh of the orange itself at the same is a very tasty and satisfying experience. As for the best way to peel. Peel like you would a potato creating a long spiral leaving the white skin on the orange. The thicker the pith the tastier the orange..

@@louisborselio8608 Unlike you I find the pith aka the white crap, (or since I am using talk-to-text and actively peeling and getting rid of the strings and pith- I am frequently getting frustrated because talk-to-text does not know that word well + it's making other typos my mandarin orange covered fingers are not I have seen it type pit and a couple of other things, but you obviously know what is being referred to so it is not necessary to write back and say something that was referred to multiple times in the video, because sometimes people are just doing other things also because the internet is not everything to everyone...)+ white crap is something it does not know bitter and I don't like it and I eat enough Mandarin oranges it doesn't matter where the vitamin C is greatest since 2 cuties have more than your daily recommended value of vitamin C so if I want to enjoy my mandarin orange - I will continue to remove the white crap which I find gross and bitter and I also don't like the string thing that goes down the back of each section of the orange so I take that off too! I will feel it and it is a texture that I don't like which is also true of the pith when it is excessive - like when I peel an orange and it goes from being orange to white!

@@louisborselio8608 I would like it to be orange again which is what the video gives you in the end although it is still not the right method for me. Liking oranges as a midnight snack - I'm not going to boil an orange in its peel for 5 minutes and then do something else to it for 5 minutes and then do whatever the rest of the steps are - so this method is at least better for my supertaster+texture sensitivity needs... This would fix the texture+taste, but I don't want to bring a knife and cutting board 2 my bedroom nor do I want to wash them every day so that I can eat a couple of Mandarin oranges the way I like them in the middle of the night when I don't want to disturb the other people sleeping in my home- you're supposed to answer doesn't do anything and that I I asked because if I wanted the pith I'm already capable of peeling an orange with nothing more than my fingers.... for me this is not destroying the orange! I guess what they say is true - one person's trash is another person's treasure. Regardless the video is not destroying the orange in multiple people's eyes and if you don't like it don't do it.

For me it is because the pith tastes bitter and I don't like the texture - I happen to be a supertaster and that may be why I find it sour but I'm not talking about taking the piss off of oranges when there is a little left I want to know how to take the pit off of oranges that doesn't take as long as scraping it with my fingernails - when I get oranges that after I have peeled them are white dot-dot-dot like completely white not a bit of white here and there!

I have not seen a recipe that calls for oranges in any other way except for segmented which is different than this so your recipe intrigues me? I also wonder if the white spots you see on canned Mandarin oranges - which I have not seen and have not purchase ever, but I had a mandarin orange that looked like it potentially had a worm crawl into it and I wondered if that was possible like it is with apples - and instead larva can be made into oranges but worms and things don't survive the citrus so it says you can go ahead and eat them because the citric acid kills anything else that tries to get into it.... things that make you go hmm I guess?

LOVE IT!!! EXCELLENTLY PRESENTED! Have given it thumbs up and subscribed to follow! A few corrections, if you don't mind - if you do, feel free to remove them. "where the pith and orange" should be ""where the pith and orange . "ruff" should be "rough" (Hey, I didn't invent this spelling!) Instead of "fillet", why don't you use "trim" "Fillet" is most often used for fish or beef. Where you say "we going to fillet", I think you mean "we " What do you by " nope"? Is this a common culinary term? What do you mean by "knee lift"? Is this another common culinary term? PS If audience is going to use orange peels for candy, compost or fertilizer, they should remove the label, otherwise it's guaranteed to show up just when they don't want it to. This is a GREAT video. No self aggrandizement. (Didn't invent that spelling either) No philosophy of the history of cooking Just plain instruction. Very nice. Well done. '

Orange fetish? That makes me nervous but when I went to visit my niece and nephew over spring break this year I ate Citrus for the first time in decades - probably 2, but since I have eaten cuties and am now stuck eating summer cuties which are not the cute little tiny California mandarins - but are still mandarins - I find myself somewhat addicted to Mandarin oranges!! And by somewhat addicted I mean on the 30th of last month there may have been a grocery trip to Sam's in which for 5 lb bags were purchased and I might be most of the way through the fourth bag! And about all I do besides regularly daily activities is scratch the pith off of the orange which is not a word I even knew so that I can eat them claim without all of the white crap or the stringy things on the back that might be part of the pith for all I know! Anyway I hesitate to subscribe because orange fetish videos are not something I think I would want to watch - but Orange storage tips and peeling tips and that sort of thing I'm totally down for and since this is the first video of yours I've ever watched by I've got no idea if Orange fetish was a joke or not - plus I'm reluctant to cut the orange in 6 pieces because obviously you cut through some of the sections plus I frequently eat oranges in bed and well I am eating the oranges in bed I don't think filleting it would be responsible knife use...thoughts?

This isn't very good advice. Look up videos on sectioning oranges to get a better result much more quickly.

In my experience that loses a lot of juice and some people don't want their oranges to be segmented where you lose a ton of juice- so just like everything else in this world different strokes for different folks...

@@rockyreecey4191 well last night I was peeling an orange and looking at ways to get the pith off easier... particularly when I feel my orange and it is white - I did not watch this in KZfaq two years ago nor did I check the date on anything before I wrote anyting!! I still don't see what gender has to do with anything....
