Romanian here, there is a big difference in Raducanu case. She was clearly doping, she later said it herself and Mucinex is a doping drug. However in this case the results were actually not positive, but false positive because the drug she used is not really a doping drug , it gets flushed in 2 days and doesn't provide benefits after that. So unless she took it the day she competes, the drug she took is absolutely useless. People should look more at the science in this and based their decisions on that rather than politics. There is high controversy about Trimetazidine and other drugs that "could" have doping effect but are prescribed because of heart conditions. The point is, there needs to be serious discussion about what are doping drugs and what are not. Since Trimetazidine can't provide any benefits on the long term and it was used for a medical condition the comittie was right to allow her to practice. You can view more about it on Reuters here : kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hJuIe5Rqt6vVh6c.html

Probably because it’s very likely the other two podium spots will go to Trusova and Scherbakova and thus Russia will have a clean sweep of the medals, and because of the current controversy and the already instated ban of Russia from the Olympics, in addition to the fact that the above listed Russian skaters along with the Valiyeva are all coached by Eteri, I’m guessing the IOC is doing what they can to exact some sort of punishment on Russia.

To begin with, understand the essence of the issue before accusing the Russian figure skater! The samples were taken on December 25, and only on February 8 they were "unexpectedly" made public! Firstly, we are talking about a drug that stimulates the heart muscle, and secondly, why did they deliberately delay the publication of the facts of the discovery of a certain substance in Valieva's blood? thirdly, even if we assume that it was "real doping", he could not influence the results of the Olympics in any way! All this looks like a big provocation, because the Americans are in second place (who could get a gold medal if Russia were stripped of medals), and the whole world knows that the United States is a big world adventurer...

Thomas Bach's remarks are the pinnacle of hypocrisy. In this season, Kamila's doping test results were clean at four international competitions, but only the test for the Russian national competition showed polluted result. Therefore, this case required a thorough investigation and verification, but there was not enough time. As CAS rejected IOC's indictment to ban Kamila's participation in individual competition, the IOC should have announced that IOC would normally award medals for the results of the game, but that medal and record could be deprived if Kamila did intentional doping. The IOC's shocking announcement "If Kamila stands on podium, medal award ceremony would be canceled" must have acted as tons of pressure on Kamila, And this IOC's Threat made her step down from the podium by herself. As a result, the IOC brutally threatened a young girl under the age of 16 to take the bronze medal from Russia and give it to Japan. Furthermore this ultimately made it impossible to watch Kamila's performance in full of heavenly and mysterious beauty, which all figure fans around the world wanted to see. The IOC should take the greatest responsibility for this!

the decisions affecting her acceptability in the current competition weren't taken by the US media. She should not have been allowed to compete because of prior doping period - it is a rule that has existed from before this incident and that is constantly being flaunted by the RU teams and the IOC has been bending in all sorts of ways to not fully enforce because - "Russia". As for the quantity of banned substances and whether it affects performance - again this is an issue related to the IOC and its rules - where it draws the line; ain't got nothing with the media - US or otherwise, or our non-informed youtube opinions. Her age matters in terms of her capacity to give informed consent and full understanding of consequences. As female and at that age and in that national environment I doubt there's much of either. She's clearly talented and wants to compete; can't imagine the pressures she's been under to navigate the politics of all this when all she wants most likely is to skate and be the best at this sport. If she win here today (the event is today) she may have to hand back to medal if the later investigation into her positive test suggest she dope. And not being spike or the lab made a mistake. The results were given on 7th Feb, just within the 20 day allotted period. The main reason that she is allowed to compete was that the test result of the 25th December 2021 sample was handed in by WADA's ITA in Sweden only on the 8th of February 2022 to coincide with the Gold Award Winning Ceremony for the Russian team, that is 45 days after the test was taken and over 25 days days after the 20 day deadline for the result to be produced and presented according to WADA's own regulations. The reason why WADA drew that deadline for a sample test result to be handed in not later than 20 days is to lesson the possibility of tempering and or of contamination of the sample in question. So the Positive test result for a trace of a banned medication supplied on the 8th February 2022 cannot be validated since it was NOT Alina Valieva's fault that it was communicated late. Besides, all tests taken from Kamila Valieva's sample before the 25th of December 2021 and after the 25th of December 2021, including in January 2022 and during the Beijing Olympics all returned a NEGATIVE test result from the same anti-doping test agency in Sweden. Therefore, the freak positive test result of the 8th of February 2022 should be discarded for expiry of the set deadline of 20 days and Alina Valieva cannot be accused of having returned a positive test result to a banned medication. The IOC investigation should center about why the 25th December sample test result was supplied by the ITA in Sweden so late and whether there was malicious intent in timing the communication of the result to make it coincide with the Gold Medal Award Winning Ceremony for the Russian team.

It is not as you suppose. Your logic is not correct. At least if you have gone through High School you will have studied Human Rights declared in the UN. Basic article 10 and 11, and the Declaration of Children's Rights. Where it says that all children must be protected and that a child is anyone who is under 16 years of age. Kamila in the test at the European Games 2022 was negative. In the test before and after the Team Games in Beijing 2022 she tested negative. The positive anti-doping problem occurred in a local game in her country, the test was carried out on December 25, 2021 and the delivery to the laboratory in Stockholm in Sweden is in the indicated time. The answer must arrive from 7 to 10 days and I arrive 45 days later in the middle of the Olympics. Therefore there was no falsification of information in the declaration to the Olympics. And in her participation she did it clean, without the influence of any drug. You can't treat a child athlete like an adult. The child is protected because the UN mandates it in the Declaration of the Rights of the Child. The most serious crime is the abuse they have done against a child. Adults who in their ambition used an innocent child like Kamila. Let's be fair and defend the child, always.

The 4 important things we should pay attention in this Camila case are as follows. 1. In this season, during 4 months from the 2nd Grand Prix Skate Canada (Oct.29.2021) to Olympic, Camila's doping test results were all clean at 4 international competitions. 2. Only one doping test result for Russian national competition was more than 200 times polluted. 3. Why RUSADA requested doping test for domestic competition to Sweden and what was the reason such long time (6 weeks) needed for test & result publication? 4, Under the above situation, was IOC's action against Camila appropriate? Regarding 1 and 2, Camila was on the way of breaking new records during that period, so if she intentionally used drug to improve her performance, it was impossible unless she continuously used it, Therefore it is medically impossible to explain. And she has been negative at both the Euro Champ and the Olympics after Dec. 25, but she made an Olympic records again at team tournament. For 3, there are two possibilities. One possibility is that the Swedish lab made a technical error, and the other is that RUSADA got involved in a Russian internal dark fight and deliberately tried to swap samples to kill Camila and Etheri. It is up to you to decide which possibility is higher. What I'm going to focus on is about 4. Under situation of lack of convincing evidence and Camila's unacceptance of intentional doping, the IOC sued to CAS to disqualify her. However, the CAS dismissed the IOC's indict on the grounds that Camila was a child under the age of 16 and the principle of presumption of innocence, allowed her to compete in the individual competitions. This means not just let her go out on the ice, but let her normally can compete. So IOC should have announced that IOC would normally award medals for the results of the competition, but medal and record could be deprived if Camila's intentional doping definitely found out. However, IOC put tons of pressure on Camila with a shocking decision that "If Camilla is in the top three, the awards ceremony will be cancelled.", Eventually, this IOC's brutal threat forced her to step down herself from the podium. Furthermore this made it impossible to watch Camila's performance in full of heavenly and mysterious beauty, which all figure skating fans around the world wanted to see. And it could have been the greatest performance of her life. (I pray fervently to God that it won't be!) Camila is not only treasure of Russia but joy of all Figure skating fans around world who pursue perfect beauty! The IOC should kneel down and beg for forgiveness to her and to all figure skating fans around the world and take all responsibility!

Let me get this straight... The CAS decided a skater who was caught doping is allowed to compete, but if she "wins" a medal, then ALL of those who earned a medal do not get them?? So the others who earned a medal without doping are penalized because she doped??? WTH! This certainly points to how injustice is ingrained into the Olympics in skating competitions.

Am I the only one who thinks someone intentionally leaked the info in a timely manner to make someone else gold? I mean the top 3 are all Russian and from the same coach. They all must have used drugs. I feel this girl is actually a victim of someone.

Christine, it’s Val-i-e-va. I know you hate the Russians but at least learn to pronounce her name correctly. And, Christine, she IS 15, sorry it’s inconvenient and you think it’s ridiculous. As an American, am much more disgusted with the anti-Russian propaganda and sentiment in my country over the trace amount of a heart medication found in December. I stand with Kamila. ❤️💜💙

Thank you so much. I just found out that at the Tokyo Olympics last year, a lot of American dropouts were disqualified due to doping problems. In Russia, the reaction to this topic was neutral. So what happened, so what? And here everyone is pouring shit on Russia. In Russia, they have long learned not to watch the news, stupid propaganda, and they try to look for information before believing someone when it comes to news

It's pretty bad when the IOC is the vessel of credibility and fairness in the conversation....just sayin' Russia. I do feel bad for the athlete...she is clearly very talented but competes for a corrupt country and probably had little choice or say in the matter of this substance.

For your information. Valieva did not use the banned drug, it did not affect her indicators in any way. Our girl is clean. Her reputation is ruined only by those who, without understanding the situation and without clarifying the information in verified sources, criticize our athletes. The timing of the use of this drug has long been out of the competition. As for me, everything is obvious. She is a winner and I am ashamed of the West, which cannot accept defeat. Sorry for the illiteracy in writing. Greetings from Russia)

@@user-gh1ez6nh2o No need to apologize, your writing is just fine...really, it's better than most Americans in terms of clarity, structure, and grammar but we also have a lot of dumb dumbs here who never learned to write well. On the other hand, your rationale is full of holes. She never took the substance? So what are we to believe...that the substance just magically appeared in her system? And bigger picture, is there any legitimate dispute that the doping program among Russian athletes was / is widespread ? I mean when the rest of the world including numerous credible international doping agencies are nodding in agreement and just one country is denying it....come on. Is this skater ridiculously talented? Yes, obviously. Are Russian athletes at the elite international level, with a doubt yes. But the world has established a set of rules to abide by, one of which is doping-free competition, and the standards are very clear. And hey, it's not as if the US has not had its own share of doping cheaters...but, when caught cheating, they face real consequences...even athletes that are "national heros". There's a real benefit to the larger society when this sort of cheating is not tolerated and conversely, there's a degrading effect on society when cheating is denied, defended, or promoted. Personally, I could really care less about how many gold medals "we" win...but when cheaters amongst our athletes are identified, I prefer to see them removed from competition for the signal it sends to the norms of acceptable behavior of our society.

@@nlabanok Understand, I do not consider Valieva a fraudster. She is an athlete in a big political game. I'm sure she's clean. Maybe it's all just an attempt to desecrate the honor of the team?

@@user-gh1ez6nh2o Well this is just blind belief in a conspiracy that the drug testing program is operated to only identify banned substances in Russian athletes. The data simply does not support that premise and there's zero actual evidence that the drug testing program is biased against Russian athletes. There's no sense in trying to convince a believer of conspiracy theories of anything different...so, enjoy the (tainted) Olympic skating program...and continue enjoying the conspiracy theories that Putin and his government push onto you in the name of nationalism and with the objective of keeping the Russian people distracted with claims of how unfairly the world treats your great country....and it is a great country and so much better than the silliness that the country's leadership bestows on the people.

Why even bother to do drug testing if they’d let it slide and the athletes compete regardless of the result…Just for the sake of good sportsmanship and other countries the Russia team should volunteer to withdraw from the competition. Can’t believe they want to stay on the game at the price of other. So imposing

not old enough to decide whether to take a heart medication and check if they are telling the truth about it by conducting a drug test. as an athlete you re given pills constantly for supplements and other drugs.
