It seems like people who play inside leg position mainly rely on maintaining a strong knee to elbow connection for guard retention. I think Xande has an instructional on that concept called something like the diamond principle, and Gordon always emphasizes the knee to elbow connection when he talks about guard retention. Any thoughts on that style vs outside leg position? Great video btw! Always interesting to hear conversations between high level competitors.

Yeah there are a lot of important concepts for inside retention too. I think overall its more difficult if someone plays outside position well

There's a match with one of the miyao twins vs rafael mendes. Some of the best guard retention I've seen. Not sure I've seen the miyaos guard passed but on that note I'm about to go looking 😄
