In this video, I create an abstract painting on a 80x80cm canvas.
I used many painting techniques based on transparency to create a subtle and light painting.
As for tools, I used acrylic paint, tape, stencils, combs and brushes.

The delicacy of this painting is incredible. I’m so glad after just watching about five of your videos a year or so ago I signed right up for your elite classes so I can follow the videos that you suggested in your email. All 14 techniques is this video I can find to get motivated and create my own. Videos like this on Friday’s is such a treat after working all week long. Yes XRA14 is like x-ray vision, seeing through the layers for a combined beauty.

Usually your paintings are bold, strong and have heavy contrast. It’s the reason I love your art. You paint deliberately and most abstract art, for me, is just….. well everywhere. This painting is so whispy, yet all the elements of your style are still present. It’s beautiful. I signed up for your painting course last year and I’ve never been disappointed. Thank you ever so much for sharing your talents. When one is passionate about their craft they will share it with others. I learn something new every class. I can’t wait to try the XRA14.

I started watching you several yrs ago...when you were just kinda known as the "masking tape guy". 😉 I began to incorporate that in my own abstract work and it definitely added a new tool to my tool box. I have not only loved seeing your work but have utilized some of the many tools and variations in styles you have shared. Yours was the first channel I ever SUBSCRIBED to. Today's piece certainly illustrates the use of transparent colors... resulting in a very (XRA14) intriguing outcome.

I have been watching your videos for years, they are so calming. But also it amazes me how you layer and use color. the pink really works well with the teal(?). You always know when to end the painting, i feel like i would go too far and end up messing it up. You truly are a master. XRA 14. Hope you still have years of painting left in you.

XRA 14 I have been watching you for a couple of years now, and you are tge reason why I do abstract as a hobby, I love your use of colour in this painting, it's like a flower blooming, I like how you don't feel the need to use the whole of the canvas and the painting is still so strong and powerful, I have to say that my all time favourite is a painting you did a few weeks ago called aeternus, something just made me feel I had a connection with it. Love yall your work though, thank-you for sharing with us x

Oh my goodness, you’ve got to be kidding me, that you live in Dickinson. You know for Texas being such a HUGE state, you’d think that there would be a ton of us from Texas that are in the Art Community on KZfaq, but there isn’t hardly any at all. (At least that’s I’ve seen) Well until today finally, finally I’ve seen someone on KZfaq who obviously enjoys or is apart of, or maybe even just admires the Art Community perhaps, but nonetheless I’ve finally seen someone on KZfaq who lives in a town that not only that I’ve heard of and are familiar with, but also that isn’t like a billion miles away from where I live. That’s awesome. I’m sorry for just coming at you like this, but dang you don’t know how long I’ve been waiting for this day to happen to finally hear of someone on KZfaq who like the same kind of Art related stuff as I do, that is from somewhere In Texas that I’m familiar with or have heard of at least, & what’s even crazier is that Dickinson isn’t but idk maybe an hour or so from where I live. Wow that’s awesome, I just wanted to tell you thank you for making my day for finally getting to see someone from Texas that is near me. That’s so cool, boy I’ve waited 2+ years for this no bs! Like its title, Levitas is light, fickle and inconstant, while being even more fickle against its name and remaining true to its point of origin. I love the colors and they, along with the shadows and highlights make make me think of spring, full blown.

Hi John, this painting is so light, I feel wonderful looking at it, the way your hands flow over your canvas' is so freeing to watch. I only started abstract painting 12 months or so ago and I have now taken over our dining room and filled it with canvas and paint. It's my special space where I shut out everything but my art.
