ABT Studio Company Fall 2020 Bubble: A Dancer’s Perspective

Go behind the scenes with ABT Studio Company! After spending seven months apart due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the dancers gathered for a seven week “ballet bubble.” Following a two-week quarantine with many safety measures in place throughout, the dancers trained, rehearsed, created new work with choreographer Hope Boykin, and filmed the ABT Studio Company Winter Festival.

As a dancer who dances more then 20 hours a week, I can say that chocolate milk time is a very necessary part of my day!!:)

If anyone is curious about the background music, the piece playing on and off through the first half (before you start to hear the music from rehearsals) and the music playing during the credits is from Michael Giacchino's _Star Trek Into Darkness_ (specifically the theme from "London Calling"). I really loved this video, the insight it provides and it's clear that all of the Studio Comoany dancers are incredibly talented. I am loving Elisabeth Beyer's performances in particular as I just discovered her dancing through KZfaq. I can't wait to see how far they go.

I know it was quite different performing without a large audience and with cameras near your faces but I thank you all for all your hard work and for sharing this with us! Y'all were amazing and I enjoyed both acts. I'm so glad a *small* group of you all got to get back together for a little bit!

I'm not certain if you're talking about another piece of music from the video, but the music playing on and off through the first half (before you start to hear the music from rehearsals) and the music playing during the credits is from Michael Giacchino's _Star Trek Into Darkness_ (specifically the track "London Calling"). It's such a beautiful song from a brilliant film score that managed to create new beautiful music and smartly incorporate a theme that is known the world over. I've always loved it and I thought it was used well here.

@@haileyhudson4157 I’m glad that I could help and that you didn't think I was just being contradictory (I purposely try not to come off as contradictory in these instances, as so many people are snarky towards one another in comments sections these days). But, I know that I get frustrated when I can’t remember where I heard a song, or if I love a piece that I can’t identify. So, I wanted to provide an update for that reason. Actually, it appears Shazam doesn’t have the correct title for this piece either. I couldn’t remember the name of the composer and the iPhone extension that lets you search for music said that it was from Planet of the Apes, which is also a Giacchino score (close, but not quite). So, then I ended up down a rabbit hole about how to report incorrect findings to Shazam, even though no one may have ever discovered the issue otherwise and may never lol. Anyway, I hope you have a great night. Take care! 🙂
