Guitarist's strumming hand would twitch at the speed of light, basically. Strumming speed is decided by the Expert guitar chart, and fretting is determined by Expert guitar pitches (green = index, red = middle, etc, in default handmapping). This is also why Bodhisattva has that "hidden" guitar chart under the BRE, so the animations would still match the audio.

For reference, when he was comparing the two chart files, grains of sand is about 256,000 times bigger, and so it very likely is 300k times bigger than many chart files out there.

Where are you getting those numbers from? Grains of Sand’s chart file is 10 MB (10,692,845 bytes) and the other song is 38 KB (39,148 bytes). Grains of Sand is only about 273 times bigger, not 256,000. It’s still likely that it’s way bigger than other chart files, but not by as much as what you’re saying.

Some dude, more than a decade ago, had to write a game engine. And it would've been easy to make assumptions about the kind of limits they could put in place. They only had so many songs - why do any more than what those needed? You never know who's going to be using your work, years down the line. Probably nobody - but there's a chance that if you do it right, it makes someone's day, far in the future.

charts have to be converted to midi in order to be added to rb3 and maybe also gh2 i guess some notes were so close together that midi format assumed they were chords
