One of the most common themes when I deliver workshops on Jump Technique is the concept of acceleration. A jump is power, but a jump is also understanding how to harness your speed potential. A more common flaw amongst amateur jumpers is approaching too quickly, too early in their approach.
The key to maximizing your speed is understanding and finding your maximum controlled velocity (MCV). We do this by practicing going too fast and then dialing it down to find what we can control. A combination of patterning and position will ensure that once you find that MCV, you will optimize your ceiling for jump potential.

Tyler travels around the world lecturing and coaching athletes and coaches, more commonly in the world of jump technique. A 14-yr veteran of the Strength and Conditioning industry, Tyler manages an Athlete Academy out of Sweat Fitness and Performance in Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada. Tyler is a former professional dunker and track athlete who possessed a 48" vertical at the peak of his career.
