I found this video on the internet of a teacher conducting a wonderful experiment with his students in their classroom.
The experiment was in two phases: one of the students was on the table barefoot and the teacher was applying the force, and the other was when the student was wearing a roller skate on the table and the teacher was applying the force.
In the second case, the student was not feeling any force applied by the teacher and the reason for that was Inertia mentioned in the video but that's WRONG.
NMS sir has explained the complete experiment conducted by the teachers and given the reason for the student not feeling any force.
Questions on such concepts are majorly asked in IIT JEE, Olympiad and many other difficult exams.
If you are someone who likes to understand physics on a deeper level and wants to learn JEE advanced-level physics then do subscribe to our channel for more such videos.

@@a.k.gaming5467 inertia is also the one the reason but if you go deep , when you understand about forces then only you can understand how friction helps there in rolling but as i have said in my previous reply . For basics student who don't have much knowledge about mechanics we can say that this happen because of inertia because here also body wants to be in its initial state which is the basics defination of inertia. But if you go for exact reason then nms sir is right .

Hello sir.. thank you for your nice explanation…need to tell something that in both situations the boy and the table are in same frame of reference. As friction force is an electromagnetic force, and oppose the motion of the body. The another force is reaction force that is acting in upward direction. 1. In first situation when we pulling the table, the resultant force of reaction and friction force is making an angle and acting in backward direction. The acceleration is not constant as we pulling the chair and stopping it. So the position of boy is dis balancing from its initial position. 2. Now the second situation is totally different as the boy can move with skates in the opposite direction. In this situation the acceleration of table and boy is totally different because we are pulling chair with same acceleration but the boy will move with more acceleration as rolling is there. Now the table is experiencing more friction than boy. So the condition is more dis balancing. Final observation:- This is not a perfect example of inertia and not an example of rolling motion. This is an example of non - inertial frames. Thank you

@nayanbaishya4077
@nayanbaishya4077 15 күн бұрын
Although your explanation is correct, but to conclude that inertia has no role will not be appropriate. Through the experiment, the intention of the teacher might be to demonstrate newtons 1st law. Since the rolling friction is very less the force exerted on the student is less, which is not sufficient to perturb the student. To have better understanding, I will leave a question. What would be the behaviour of the system if the mass of student and mass of roller skate is very less (negligible)?

One thing , there is a role of inertia for sure, your explanation in my humble opinion is partially correct, the thing is that the boy's body is not a rigid body, so while in the first case there is a force of friction that tries to pull them forward the upper part of his body will try to stay as it is because of inertia, so in a way a part of the body that is legs are trying to go ahead and the upper part is trying to stay as it is, creating a serious imbalance and thus a fear of falling, this is where inertia is involved. In the second part of the problem , because of the wheels the lower part experiences little acceleration as you rightly said, so it is not disturbed much and the upper part's inertia is also almost untouched and thus more comfortable, your explanation is thus to my understanding partially correct!! More power to you sir!!

Beta galat concept ko sahi kiya hai isse tum jaise Hazaro baccho ko sikhane me help krega …me manta hu ki fun k liye koi nale me girta h ,chahe badam badam krta h toh unke videos dekhe ja skte hain and unke views aate hai itta chalta hai but agar galat concept par millions me views aa rkhe ho toh aane wali नसल ka bhut badha loss h toh beta iss baat ko smjho ..Hazaro teachers bane pde hai but reality yeh hai unme se kuch teachers sach m kuch b galat salat pdha dete hain. Sorry to say but it’s reality isliye kya jruri hai us par focus kro na ki us par jisme sirf mza aa rha ho… vaki bhagwan tumhra bhala kre ..good luck 👍🏻

Agar roller skates kee bearings entirely frictionless hoti, toh forward acceleration nahi hoti na? Bas axial acceleration har wheel mein

It's not about bearing, friction is between surfaces

@@NMSPhysicsISAC i understand what you're saying sir, but what I was talking about was a hypothetical - if the bearings were frictionless and the surfaces of the wheels and the table weren't, then what would happen? I feel like the kid on top of the table would remain stationary while the wheels rotate to accomodate the motion of the table

Law of inertia jo ye kehta hai ki koi bhi object Rest me hai to rest me ya motion me hai to motion me hi rhega jab tak us per koi external force apply na ho s but yha friction presence hai so iska reason inertia na hokr friction hi hoga

my guess: moment of inertia of wheels is much less than inertia of boy, with wheels, only wheels move while boy remains more or less stationary. edit: sir mai thoda slow hu toh aapka explanation thoda sar ke upar se nikal gaya, for example wo 2f kyu hua. Sir agar aap ek trolley ka motion on a moving belt esa ek video banaye iss topic ke upar toh bohot maza aayega. vinati hai meri. Also sir another way to look at it is that when table underneath is at constant velocity, then pure rolling takes place without friction (static friction in horizontal pure rolling is zero) thus effect of adding wheels is equivalent to adding a lubricant which eliminates friction, thus due to inertia the boy stays at rest, so inertia is also the reason.

Are you sure that limiting friction is there in case 1. Why it could not be lesser than that as static friction can have any value from zero to μMg Tab aap bolte ho ya to poora padhao ya mat padhao Aur comment karne Wale kehte Hain ki bahut achchha concept clear ho gya

Sir aap assume kar rhe ho ki pehle case me bachhe ka total acceleration same hai, par aisa toh nhi hai, pehle case me bhi bacha still hi hai, uske par bas agey peeche ja rhe hain upper body nhi, par agey peeche ja rhe hain kyuki woh contanct me hain table ke sath, toh isme toh bacha inertia ki wajah se hi ruka hua hai, 2nd case me bhi bachha still hai, wheels rotate ho rhe hain, dono me inertia lag raha hai aur dono me hi baccha move nhi ho raha hai. Please tell me if i said this correctly.

concept was great, might be a little error assuming the weight of child is 800kg, as you took his mass 80kg and W=mg (so his weight was considered 800kg!!!). 80kg would have resulted in 40N. but anyways it was a just a numerical mistake which has no effect on that crystal clear explanation. good to see physics community growing :)

Oo thats just for the fame sir as the world inertia refer when no net force is available and in 2nd. Case as the the rolling friction act which is less thus the force which move the leg is very less this the upper body loves to stay at inertia There are several ways to explain one phenomena sir shouldn't misguide his students
