It happens, but ALWAYS remember that if you ever dial 911 by mistake, you DON’T EVER EVER hang up. You just stay on the line and when they answer, you just say it was a mistake. If you hang up, they will have to call you back, and if they don’t hear anything they will have to send an officer to make sure you’re okay. I speak from experience.

No one came to me, I was in school in math and my phone slips out of my case in my pocket in a way that the the off and volume button are pressed and I checked my calls and apparently I was on the phone to them for a hood minute

One time I accidentally said: “Hey Siri, call the police.” (In Spanish) because I remembered something embarrassing and I randomly said that. And I saw him processing so I stopped it before it even got to ask me if I wanted to call.

This happened to me just the other night, my phone screen became unresponsive. So when I went to do the shut down method, it triggered the SOS alarm. I could not cancel it because my screen wasn’t responding, it ended up dialing 911. I had to explain to the operator what happened and I was incredibly embarrassed, also felt bad I had wasted their time. I didn’t touch my phone for awhile, not wanting to do the same thing again. But I eventually fixed it thankfully lol, this time without triggering the SOS.

Literally just happened like 25 mins ago. I was sleeping and then woke up to the alarm. I hanged up in time but they called me back. The lady asked what’s the emergency and I said I’m sorry I didn’t mean to call… where she asked me to verify by address and name. Luckily they didn’t came and that she understood.

This just happened to me! I pulled my phone out of my pocket to see the emergency call going though! I don’t have the best cell service, so I have no idea if it even went through. I stupidly hung up in a panic, but nobody’s called me back yet so… Anxiety! 😭

This happened too me I fell asleep with my phone my body somehow activated the emergency on the phone it called 911 I was awoken by cops banging on my door. I got up all confused only after i saw my phone dialled 911.

I would disable this feature on my phone but it make it where I can't use my fingerprint scanner on any other app on my phone. So annoying. I have a Nokia, and I can't find a way to turn it off without disabling lock screen, which also makes it so I can't unlock any other app with fingerprint scanner, makes no sense.

This happened to me at my school last week I was on lunch and I felt my phone vibrating from my back pack so I quickly pulled it out so no one can see and once I pulled it out it was the emergency 5 second countdown I had no time left and went straight to the 911 call and then I cancelled the call then a few minutes later I see Hanford city of is calling me so I ignored the call cuz I knew it was just gonna be more worst of getting into trouble . So they talk to my school police officer about it over the radio saying they where gonna send an officer to drive by the school to make sure everything’s ok . They did their drive by then went back to the station . And then they where tracking me for 3 hours so I had to go on to my emergency SOS and then I turned it off and then everything was back to normal

This happened to me 4 times this week while working. I am a plumber. 2 of the times I was able to cancel. The other 2 times, they called back. After the 4th time, I figured out how to turn off the feature.

I cancelled it, but it happened to me, and I guarantee you I did not touch anything. The phone did it on its own. Apple needs to fix this.

This just happened to me today my screen was frozen and I held it down and it called 9 11 I was pannciking cause i couldn’t hang it up then I heard a lady’s voice and i said my name my iPhone screen was frozen and it was a accident and I said I was sorry and it seemed like she understood and said ok will close this and hanged up

This is why I don’t use that feature the only ones who need the Emergency SOS feature are elderly women like my grandparents who fall a lot or people with life threatening diseases and disabilities or Chronic illnesses but me yeah I’ll keep it off until I need it so I don’t accidentally trigger anything yes I know this comment is going to get backlash and hate. I did this acter a police officer came to our door saying they received an emergency call but none of us not even my twin’s friend who was there at the time called them I felt so bad someone wasted their time from a real emergency and we still don’t know who caused it my parents think it was one of our neighbors accidentally called near our house it’s freaky when a police officer shows up at your door and no one called them. Fun fact: If you dial 911 without a cell phones plan or no wifi your phone will connect to the nearest cell tower no Mater what to fulfil the call no mater the provider free of charge! If a cell tower isn’t available the call will not go through.
