OK okay I left my wife unsupervised for 5 minutes and she bought a truck!! In her defense she was unsupervised and we got a great deal on it.

I've been watching your videos for some time now and look forward for the next. It started when you did some work for one of your neighbors at Red Poppy Ranch. Anyway I'm just amazed how you have so much knowledge on different subjects. I see if a person wants to live this type of life style it helps to know these things. Plus the money saved. Also your wife right there helping in many of the projects and a full time job. Best of luck from a viewer in Denver, CO.

So glad you are a jack of all trades. My dad was the same way on the farm, because he couldn't afford to have some fix things.

I bought my car at an auction and had to repair and full service it to get it on the road. It was a cheap buy so that's why I took a chance on it. That was back in 2012 and it's still on the road even now. I now only use it less then once a week but the best car I have owned. Cost a bit to get it sorted but one of the best investments I ever made....

I've been to lots of farm auctions over the last 30 yrs. Never thought of having the top bid on an item as "winning", since nothing I ever bid on was free.

Mark, I really enjoy watching your videos and listening to the planning you put into place when starting a project. However, I am slightly dismayed to see you relying on a trolley jack to lift the vehicle while working underneath. These devices have been known to fail so please take care and make sure you work in a safe environment. Your family need you.

So happy to see someone who enjoys repairs as much as my mechanic enjoys his work!!! As an elderly Grandma, it is like a whole new world to me looking 😊under the hood !!!

As a compulsive cord neatener myself, I can relate to your wanting the electrical wires behind the dash sorted and connections done right. When I see a computer setup or an entertainment system with a mare's nest of power cords and patch cords pushed back behind everything "out of sight, out of mind," it just drives me nuts. If you need to remove or replace a piece of equipment, you have to thrash around in that tangle for 20 minutes to figure out what cord connects to what and isolate the right cord and get it lose. Invariably, it's a small space with little room to maneuver, your body's in an awkward position, and you get a snoot full of dust and pet hair and sneeze for an hour and a half afterward.

When I first started driving under the hood was simpler to repair and you could repair a few things yourself. I loved hearing your life experiences.

Marc on the farm we had a saying about GMC = Got Mechanic Coming! Ford = Fix Or Repair Daily, and Found On Road Dead, and if you ran it backwards, Driver Returns On Foot. The old Studebaker 2.5 ton farm Dump truck was always very dependable. We hauled grain from the fields and livestock to market in it and it was built like a sherman tank.

Essential work aside Marc, it's always good to sort out those 'niggling odds & ends' once done the truck becomes 'yours' imo. .. 😉 Hope the tracking worked out ok .. 👍 Thanks as always for sharing. atvb ..t

I'm surprised that you and Red Poppy do so much heavy equipment and vehicle work without lifts. I envy you folks being able to do so much of the work. It is getting so costly to get even minor repairs done. I have a 2000 Nissan Frontier with a little over 100K to get simple things done like wires and pugs costs $300. Sadly, my health prevents me from learning to do these things. So, congrats on your videos and showing us how to be self-sufficient.

Mark! Will you do a video on the process you adopted for wiring axillary items on vehicles? I know it's a little out of the ordinary for your channel but automotive wiring is very interesting to me. I think it would be awesome to hear from someone with your experience!

I hate the "abandon in place" mentality. Rip out the old stuff so you don't end up with a rat's nest of wiring.

Schools are famous for that with network wiring and alarm system upgrades. Drop ceilings are spaghetti junction. So are utility companies. Just run new cabling and add more weight to the poles. Some look like they have Scoliosis with all the added weight.

I hope this was a low enough price to be a good accident! ??
@gudfarfar5 ай бұрын
A tip: To make it more interesting, you have to drag the camera around so we are able to see each operation and what you need to do to make it happen. It involves a bit of work with lights and it takes time, but the end result will be an interesting video instead of you just telling what you are doing while we sit on the counter in a corner. That is, to be honest, quite boring, and for that reason I will not subscribe to your channel. I can watch paint dry somewhere else. Make better and more inclusive videos and I will join.
