Filme muito interessante . Conta a história da morte e ressurreição de Jesus Cristo , na versão de Pôncio Pilatos. Curiosamente, vi este filme na Semana Santa. Excelente interpretação de Nino Manfredi e muito boa fotografia.

You really have to digitally blur the nudity on the STATUES?! Is KZfaq so restricted and puritanical? What a joke.

A work of seeing imaginatively from another viewpoint. It's natural, commendable to do so. Only the embellishments are inaccurate. Jesus wasn't put on a tall "plus sign", but a Tau cross. Not a tall upright, but rather low to the ground, so the knees might be scraped while collapsed from exertion to lift. The nails driven into the sides of the upright post through the ankles, between the tibia and the tendon, so that every rotation of the calves from pushing up or falling down would create excruciating pain. Likewise, the wrists, not palms, were pierced, below the base of the thumb, and severing the tendons controlling the index and middle fingers, which remained straight, while the ring finger and little finger would naturally close while trying to support the upper body to draw a breath. Likewise, this event wasn't performed on a hill top, but in the pit below the wall over the place where the Romans kept their horses. It also happened to be where the people in the city threw their offal or discarded garbage. It was called gehenna or garbage pit. The road up to the city entrance went right by there, so crucifixions were there as a warning to potential criminals or Jewish rebels entering the city. The term "Golgotha" referred to the cliff wall whose imperfections resembled a skull. It is there to this day. Pure coincidence perhaps, or it was adumbrated by artistic chiseling by the Romans for effect. In the eye sockets of the "skull" could be implaced placards upon which the sentence or crime was noted, or some joke. Mockery was typical of them. There was no upright above the cross beam, but the cross beam the sentenced condemned men carried to the pit were set upon a tenon of the permanently set upright post, shimmed into a hole chiseled into the bedrock. To maintain that cross beam once settled upin the tenon, a long spike or dowell was inserted, sticking out a ways, not allowing the head of the crucified one to keep their head vertical, but only to one side or the other. The upright was only three or four feet tall. As for Jesus being in the center, there's no reason to think that. The entire act of execution was one of humiliation and torture. The practice of quickening death was by breaking the lower leg so that lifting was impossible and both internal bleeding and suffocation would quickly ensue. As Jesus evidently died before such was required, a centurion pierced his left, not right, chest, directly into his heart to be sure.

Luigi Magni avrebbe voluto voluto salvare Pilato, eh?
