Personally, I enjoyed ironman all the way up to end game. Now that small upgrades take months to show up (raids, pnm, nex) I've been enjoying the main much more.

Ive tried iron 2 times, did a normie iron and a group iron with friends. Both accounts made it past quest cape and was working on gwd. This all said, i still have more fun playing my main account. Fuck ironmeme

Mains should be A tier. Back in the start there wasn’t Ironman mode and most would play on their mains or pures. Now with iron mode content, it’s the same as a main just have to get everything from scratch and no GE. I wouldn’t play an iron due to time issues and 1 griefer would cause u to miss a unique drop. That’s painful to get a DWH drop and u can’t pick it up due to someone already damaged it.

For me Range tanks are always fun to do pvm or pvp

Heres my opinion that no one asked for: Hardcore Ironmen Group, should be A tier along with moving Main accounts to A Tier, cause you’re locked out of PVP and therefore takes a chunk of the game out for you, where as regular mains and regular ironmen that are not hardcore can participate in pvp for their enjoyment. Hardcore group has a huge prestige but arguably a chunk of the game is removed as an option for them unless they die of course which defeats the purpose. Making regular hardcore as B tier is perfect Mains should be A tier at MOST for the simple fact you can do ANYTHING in the game with them and generally is the standard way to play. You can even pretend to be an ironman on a main, it’s limitless and can be “limited” in essence

My only issue with playing an Iron man is that I don’t have the time irl to dedicate to the constant resource gathering needed to keep up pvm. I’ve got a one year old and maybe play osrs an hour a two a day. Don’t always wanna spend that time resource gathering.

Nah, the only time i consider HC irons better than regular is when said hardcores actively engage in all the content presented. And the holy grail of actually good HC irons is when you complete Quest cape, Corrupted gauntlet, raids, inferno or if you really are mentally deficient: wildy bosses. But not the average piss HC that hasn't ever stepped foot in any risky content, you're basically an area locked normal iron man at that point with a fancy red helmet instead of grey/white. (there are too many cope HC irons like these) Anyway another banger tier list, king.

I really wish there was a one life mode without the trade restrictions, that's the only reason I don't play ironman. I just love the buy/sell aspect of the game too much.

The true S tier is the IronMain. My first account on osrs was an ironman and it wasnt until now that I made a regular account, that still cant trade because i havent played it enough to unlock free trade.

My hardcore ironman has pretty much become my main. It's surpassed all my other accounts. I don't think I would ever create another non ironman account unless it's for pking.

I found mains boring too but I can't be arsed with the ironman grinds so 1 def pure became my main and am working on maxing all skills with 1 def, 55 prayer imo the 1 def bis items looks better too You left out the best pvp build btw, the med level, at combat 99 with 50 attack,70 def, 75 prayer, 99 str, range, mage and hp.

i had no clue there was a difference between group ironmen like this with the blue and green armor types, i made a group ironman group with some friends and we are green, we were supposed to make it hardcore group iron but none of us had made an iron before and i did the choice wrong, but i don't think i had an option for a blue helmet? i remember the choices as just group ranked and unranked for group iron

Idk man I really enjoy 60 atk med level it sucks at it can’t use scythe or fangs etc for raids but t bow and staff carry it with max gear and it can do just about any content

Nah ironman are inferior to main accounts when your forced to do something you don't want cause of items being locked to content you don't enjoy doing. You can play less efficiently and do things however you want on a main.

The integrity of all mains was ruined when they added bonds to the game. You can't buy swagger. Why would I want to grind hundreds of hours to get a legit t bow just to have people wonder "how I got it". Imo the pre grand exchange days were the best. Sure, people thought it was annoying to stand around and buy/sell things, but you didn't have to, it was something people did for fun, it forced people to socialize, and quite frankly, if you couldn't buy the item that you wanted, it was probably because you didn't have any in game friends or a clan. Pre GE days imo was the perfect balance between main and iron. I think if they, instead of adding the GE, added all the QOL updates that they did add afterwards, we wouldn't need the GE. It's like all the ironman updates over these years have made the game more suited for a no GE environment. Things like buying packs of items from shops, birdhouse runs for nests.. I think it would be interesting to see what a no GE osrs would look like, in the games current state, with everyone being a main.

Interesting video, I liked it but I don’t think there was any mention to pvm on limited builds. Learning to pvm on a limited account build (1 def, 13 def, or a zerk) makes you so much better as a pvmer. Playing on an account with very high defense and armor allows you to ignore boss mechanics that would prove difficult on a 1 def- which is a good thing for immediate gains but also encourages laziness through being able to ignore mechanics. The downside to builds like this is that your accuracy is nerfed by not having armor that greatly improves your accuracy. The nice thing about this is that armor and gear flexes do not matter- what simply matters is that you’re good at the game. When you raid with a group and a main is skeptical of you at first and then after a few raids says “nice build man.” it gives you a lot of satisfaction that I would assume would be similar to the rewarding aspect of playing an Ironman.

Most fun I ever had was playing a 13 def lol. Perfect for switching between pvm slayer, bosses and pvp. It's not OP though, and it's challenging in both fronts. But it's fun and I respect anyone with a complete 13 def build.

People shit on GIM and say "Oh you share resources, you boss together" but forget you are doing that grind 2-5x longer. For example our team camped Bandos until we had 5 sets of bandos, and 5 hilts. So it's practically the same grind.

Just IronMain, it's the fun of earning stuff without the end game boredom of waiting on rng.

Iron may be more rewarding but anyone who says going 2-4x dry for something like a dragon warhammer is still fun, is straight up lying.

As someone who has since 2006 been on and off RuneScape, ironman is what really made it click. The joy and feeling of success when I have to look up where to get certain items for quests, plan my grinds out, and all that. Leveling a main is so boring, look up the highest exp rate method and buy all the supplies. On ironman, you get to plan like a grindset. For example, when you want to level up your crafting for quests etc, you can do jewelry, armor, or glass. I would source bars and gems from doing slayer and mining+smithing. I would craft teleport jewelry and level up my magic enchanting them, and then I would use it for teleports. I would blow glass to make orbs, and charge them with magic, then craft them together into battlestaffs, and high alch the staffs for money and mage exp. I would pick up dragon hides on slayer tasks and while grinding dragon bones to do prayer with, and use it to craft armor for exp, and high alch it for exp and gp. And later I would grind farming to do really efficient giant seaweed farming, superglassmake tens of thousands of glass to blow. And fletch darts and bows while I waited for the seaweed to grow. Instead of the game being A -> B like "I make money -> I buy what I need". It makes the game into a giant flow chart that you constantly iterate on. Any activity you do, you think how you could use all the rewards in the best way. Any time you get an item drop you aren't familiar with, you search it on the wiki to find out if any of the possible uses would benefit you. Any time you need to get an item, you research which ways there are to get it, what way would be the fastest, which way would be the most afk, which way is likely to benefit another goal along the way, etc.

I find it odd that you say you can't have an opinion on iron if you've never played it, yet you go nuts on the rant on UIM for nothing about the game mode itself. Just as Ironman is a completely different game experience to main, so is UIM to Ironman. It's not nearly anyones cup of tea, but if it is, it is a lot of fun and very satisfying to play on. There are so many different methods and things to take into consideration that you won't get elsewhere. The minimalism of it is also very appealing to a lot of UIM as the hoarding on iron can lead to burnout. The way you describe UIM is a lot like the kind of description you're against from mains to Iron. I find that hypocritical.

For me I’ve been playing as a rune pure/berserker pure since 2014. I have a “main” but find them boring and to a degree way too easy (even though I’m average at best at pvm). I find it challenging, engaging, and super fun for every aspect of the game. Plus you get to pvm in style with fashion scape, I also love the unique metas builds like this have. Where it suffers however is pvp, I’m maxed 80 attack 55 prayer and it’s by and large the worst pking build in the game. Berserker pures aren’t worth pking on unless 60 attack or under imho. That said I’m double positive for kd and up hundreds of mil in pvp, it’s just rough and all around not fun to do on a 75+ attack zerker.

Hardcore Ironman is F tier it's just a bunch of people who have been boosted Ironman would be S tier but also has a lot of boosters, so maybe B tier

Curious of your opinion of 807 Ironmen, AKA Combat Only Pures. 1 in all non-combat skills. Effectively a slayer Alt that is also a PVM snowflake puzzle box ironman.

Zerkers don't deserve as much hate as you gave them. It's a very DPS-oriented build, you get access to Masori and Inquisitor's at 30 Def, Bgloves, the Fremennik helms, Rune boots, Zaryte vambraces, the base spirit shield, you can get 82 Attack for a Fang, 55 Prayer for Preserve, Elite Void because all this will get you to 100cb, which means you can use Duradel for Slayer. It can use basically any weapon in the game barring weapons that can only train controlled or Defense, so hastae and the lance, but they can do any content in the game including ToB, Inferno, etc. Super fun build, it's pretty much just a hard mode version of a main. BiS gear is a lot cheaper on a Zerker because you don't need to worry about getting Torva or Ancestral or any high tier off-hands like the Avernic or fortified Elidinis' ward. It's also a good bracket for PvP but also a serviceable PvM account.

Main is S tier.

Personally I think group iron should be lower bc isn't the whole pitch of ironman "standing alone" being in a group u can share gear,resources, even assign roles like slayer farmer etc to effortlessly get far quick. I hardly see group irons as irons at all tbh. agree w most other builds but would probably bump 1 def pure up higher they can be really fun to pk and pvm with. Im a little biased bc I play a solo hc and watch odablock's group getting carried by alfie like crazy.
