Just an FYI the chassis is not polymer or plastic. The chassis is complete metal and only the skins are plastic. The action and trigger is the same as your AI AX short action. I have both guns and they are both awesome shooters for sure.

Given that the AT rifle is based on the battle proven AW (polymer skin) sniper rifle that dominated the sniper rifle space for decades, I would say the AT is a very reliable platform (even at distance) and in fact offers better value than the AX - given its lower price point.

I don’t know you (and wouldn’t recommend anyone ever buy an AI, and I say that as an owner of an AX), but you shouldn’t discount your abilities! I took a friend out which hadn’t shot a rifle in 20 years. He was hitting a 1/2MOA swinger with my AX at 500 yards (had the .308 barrel in at the time). He worked his way down the rack and then hit the 1/2 MOa swinger three times straight. If he can do it, certainly you could, too!

User limitations if you are struggling with wind past 650 on small targets. I've used this in 600-900 yard ranges with 15-19mile wind conditions with fishtail winds and still getting sub-moa groups. The fore-end sides and bottom have AI Patented rails that can have picatinny/arca attachments to mount anything on the sides/bottom, similar to the AX. There is also a clip on front section for any thermal/night vision that is not clipped onto your day-sight. The only thing the AX brings over the AT, is the barrel being lower on the chasis and inline with the shoulder more, which for a short action rifle wont impact you at all really. As everyone has mentioned, it is bonded aluminium action/receiver block with polymer side skins. It is also slightly lighter than the AX variant by like 200-300grams.

I have a Surefire Socom 762 RC2, and a Thunder Beast Ultra 7. For a bolt gun the Thunder Beast is quieter, and accuracy is better. The Socom is designed with back pressure reduction in mind. It’s a compromise to give total signature reduction. Making it more difficult for recipients on a 2 way rifle range to locate the sender. Overall I’m happy with it and I like running it on my gas guns. So no regrets there.

if you're not reloading your own ammo, 6.5 cm is cheaper and more available, but the gap is closing between the two. the 6.5 cm will also have a lot more barrel life so you will be able to shoot it more before needing a rebarrel if that's something you're worried about. also know, the 6mm cm can be harder on steel up close. just some unsolicited info.

Great shooting as always, X-Ring. I am not too familiar with silencers...how does barrel harmonics change, if any, when a silencer is attached compared to no silencer. I'm just assuming that the bullet has already left the muzzle crown by the time harmonics gets to wiggle back from the weight difference of the silencer. Anyone with knowledge, please chime in as well. Thanks.
@runflydive702
@runflydive702 4 жыл бұрын
Your question is a good one. I’ll give the answer in two parts. 1) the barrel harmonics necessarily and absolutely change. The laws of physics require this. 2) that may not (but almost always does) affect your POI. I have silencers (the legal term, but I use both interchangeably) from .22lr through and including .338LM. All but one will affect the POI shift. Digging a little deeper: sound (which is just vibration) travels faster in liquids than it does in gasses, and a lot faster in solids than it does in either. The sound wave from the ignition of the gunpowder will travel up and back from the barrel 20,000 times before the billet leaves the barrel (that isn’t a typo....20,000). When you hang a weight off the end of your barrel, it’s going to affect how that barrel reacts. Typically (but not always) it will reduce the variance of the barrel “whip” (kind of like a dampener, in simple terms), so many people see increases in accuracy when they shoot with a silencer (also helped by the lack of blast which helps with people not flinching). I have a label on each of my optics that tells me the adjustment I need to make if the silencer is not on the gun (except one, which is set to tell me what the adjustment is when the silencer is on the gun). Hope that helps.

One of the owner’s name is Tom Irwin. The VP of the US operations is Scott Seigmund. Scott and Tom (and one other gentleman, but not the other owner of AI) also own WIN tactical which is AI’s US-based barrel “producer” (I say producer because they use or have used, primarily bartlein barrels, so WIN chambers them, coats them and then puts their logo on them). Fun fact: It’s documented in AI’s own website info that they won their first military contract (UK) by making fraudulent misrepresentations to their government. They lied to their government about their capacity to produce rifles, and schemed the government reps when they showed up to check out AI’s operations (or lack thereof). You can read the story on their site or in some article online. I will say this from my own personal experience: that kind of disregard for honesty continues in the company to this day.

@runflydive702
@runflydive702 4 жыл бұрын
Indeed! If you shoot to any kind of distance (750-1500), the .308 will challenge your skill set a lot more. Plus....barrel life is a real thing. Most people won’t shoot their rifle enough to ever realize this, I suspect, but for the uninformed, it could be a little surprise a few thousand rounds down the road. Oh! And at closer ranges (say about 750 yards and in) the .308 will be carrying a LOT more energy, so from a tactical perspective (or hunting) this is meaningful. I like ‘em all, but think the above-describes advantages of the .308 get overlooked in the “debate” which usually focuses on “ballistic performance” and recoil.
