Accurate aim points for HFT

Following on from watching the video from ‪@hftshooter‬ regarding some common aim points for HFT, I'd thought I'd give it a go and quite clearly need to do a bit more practice!

I'm not sure whether the pellet drop of the 8.64gr pellet is more or less than the 8.44gr in the original video causing the difference or maybe the Brocock is putting out a little more power??
It's a good starter and one I will aim to visit again and even take a go with the springers too

Thanks for giving it a try mate. I think your pellet weight and power will make a slight difference but not that much. The shorter ranges are always going to be a problem as this is the area of most pellet drop. Try putting out a horizontal line at 8 yards and measure your pellet drop. If it's more that about 18mm then you'll have to adjust your aim point, perhaps by using the 2 mildot mark in the bottom of the kill. Anyway, time to get yourself down to Springfield ARC (about 5 mins from Pete's) and try it out for real! 🙂👍

It's certainly a good theory and thanks for the idea and ground work, I'm going to be giving this another go with so other rifles after some pellet drop testing and see what is the most consistent for me.

well one thing that may also be a factor is the height of your scope to the barrel . yours is higher than his . may make a slight difference in the hold over points . not much but enough to just squeak a pellet in . theory behind that being to zero the gun you have to put more angle on the scope than if it’s closer to the barrel ie not quite optical centre so hold over point is a tad different . of course i could be talking bollox but it works in my mind 🤣🤣🤣🤣 obviously closer you get to zero point the less effect it has

Very true, different set ups will have different effects on the aim point. I think it's a good theory to get trying and testing. Just need to start some pellet test / drops with the various rifle ) scope set ups and see what's the most consistent ( or easiest for me to remember 😆) On a complete side note, some cracking straight razors, I was toying with getting some again, that being said, can't beat the R41

The theory sounds easy enough based on the pellet drop and point of aim, try to unify this and it should make target range shooting a breeze as not wondering how much hold under or over. Will certainly be giving this another go and with some different pellets to see what makes the easiest to aim and shoot

@keith6930 I love that sort of thing. It works best in second focal plane for airguns. The zoom can be a makeshift range finder if you know your scope well enough.
