Agreed! Many clubs dont advertise themselves much for fear of drawing attention but how else can we get people in to the sport and grow it? Sort of a dumb strategy if you ask me! That's one of the main reasons I started this channel!

I agree, l was born in the UK and owned guns there until l moved to the USA. I could never talk at work with people about my sport as guns are scary! I am glad that people in the UK do own guns as limited as it is. Most of my guns today would be illegal if l were still living there. Sad really how bad the UK has got with gun control.

Get yourselves VPN (virtual private network) access. Proton works. Free too. I recently wanted to buy an air rifle. My Internet provider blocked me. FFS. Once I switched on VPN the shooting world opened up. Lots of other things open up too! Fuck1ng g0vernment.

Renting isn't a problem as Landlords should never enter a property without your consent (except in emergencies) but you will still need to secure it to the structure of the building and ensure it meets the required standards

So long as it is fixed in a way that makes it near impossible to remove without significant effort. Some people will say it has be attached to "brick and mortar" no where does it say that and actually mine aren't and the Police were happy because they are installed in such a way that removal would be extremely difficult. Basically overdo it with securing it and you should be fine but it will be down to your FEO to decide. Maybe ask for their advice before hand they are usually quite willing to give guidance. Mine was.

@@UKGuns Are you allowed to do recreational shooting on your own private land? Such as if you made a safe shooting range on your farmland? Would you have to register it as a shooting range? Is there basically any way to be able to do clay shooting, target shooting etc on your own private land? Cant seem to find much info on this, thanks.

@Junaid_12321 yes you can but you would need suitable insurance and the Police would want to inspect the land to ensure it is suitable for the type of shooting you want to use it for. If they are satisified then you could be granted a licence for shooting on that land and could apply for the types of shotguns/firearms they have approved the land for.

Ammo does need to be stored separately. That can be within the gun safe but needs to be within a seperate lock box inside. A lot of gun safes have these built in. To be able to shoot on someone else’s land. You need to have permission from the land owner and this will be checked as part of your application. As your a first time licence holder. This would be a specific condition on your certificate and any new locations would also need to be notified to the police for them to check.

That's a good question! I'll be honest I'm not 100% sure. BUT I know medical proformas are normally valid for 6 months (this is refering to the time from when the proforma is issued to you until the time you apply for your licence) and if you were applying for a coterminous certificate you would only need one proforma but I am unsure about your case as its essentially a whole new application. Your FEO will be able to answer this question definitively but I suspect you will need a new medical pro forma! Let me know what they say as I am curious!

@@UKGuns yup, effectively I need a new GP pro forma to verify nothing has changed between Jan 23 and now (this was when I applied). They've also suggested I pay an extra £2 (£90 instead of £88)to effectively renew my SGC and forearms on a co terminus.

Yes, you apply once and that is the maximum you can HOLD. Meaning it is also the maximum you can buy PROVIDING you have none at home already. Or if you say have 200 at home you should only buy 300.

I had a license approved after bouts of serious depression and treatments for that and anxiety, but you will need several years of stable mental health before I'd recommend applying. I wrote a detailed personal statement about why shooting was positive on my mental health and that went a long way.

That is correct, the wording in the bill of rights states protestants can have arms. The government basically changed who is classified as one. So basically police army and government can have what they want.

Most clubs do allow younger shooters with adult supervision but you will need to check with your local club. As for licensing the minimum age is 18 but there are some exceptions so you can check with your FEO for your circumstances

To be honest, I am not 100% sure on that but I don't think it would be possible for a number of reasons, but cant hurt to contact your local FEO and ask!

100% false. There is no truth to that whatsoever. As a shooter of many years, I can assure you I have seen many people from many backgrounds and ethnicities within the sport including my own club. If anyone is denied a firearms certificate it will be purely because of their suitabillity due to either criminal or medical reasons (or possibly not meeting the requirements of suitability) and nothing to do with their race.

The harm caused by any (actual) firearm is far more significant than by pepper spray. The reason why pepper spray is illegal is solely due to its use as an item of self defence, a concept which is effectively illegal in the UK, which is itself insane and illogical, after all the idea that a person may need a less lethal item to protect themselves is perfectly normal across much of Europe (most of which is safer than the UK).

I'd much prefer the knife crime to give way to pepper spray crime, because less people would be dead or suffer life altering injuries. The "con" isn't a con, its preferable to what already is. The fact is this the UK isn't a safe nation, yes safer than the USA (though some crimes are higher here, thankfully murder is lower) but that is a meaningless metric given our European neighbours, and violent crime is high and murder is surprisingly high, with even France (which is more dangerous generally) having a slightly lower murder rate per capita than the UK.

You know there are plenty of countries outside of America, including several in Europe who have higher ownership of firearms than the UK and have very few issues. Firearms ownership can be achieved safely. There are over 500,000 certificate holders (shotgun and firearms) in the UK and yet incidents involving legally owned firearms are exceptionally rare. America is an extreme example. no one in the UK is calling for the US level of ownership or lack of licensing

Almost everywhere in Europe is more permissive than the UK and almost everywhere in Europe is safer than the UK. I doubt anyone would look at the Swiss and think "we don't want to end up like that" yet the Swiss can own new manufactured machine guns as individuals (this is not possible even in the USA), all active militia keep their military rifles at home (and can buy them after they're no longer active) and yet they're far safer than Brits.

That's funny, we say the same think about the UK. We spell it a little differently though... 😄
