Accurate Tern 2 (TXD-400X) comes off while fishing in deep sea

Күн бұрынI was fishing in 300-400 feet of water when the Accurate Tern 2 handle suddenly became wobbly and came off. I saw that the screw did not have Loctite on it.
Was it a quality control issue? Or is there no Loctite by design?
I spoke to some fellow anglers afterwards and another person experienced exactly the same thing with his Tern and he threw in the trash. Couple of others chimed in and said that Accurate Terns are no good.
I'm now wondering what I should do next.

Get the handle for the valiant and swap it out. All aluminum not that rubber stuff . Weird because all my friends use accurate and no issues. Its been a year or so now? Any update?

I sent the reel in for warranty repair and they said that they forgot to apply loctite on it. I upgraded to a SPJ knob and it’s been great since!

😂 tough luck…. Those darn engineers!!! They should’ve called for a drop of loctite on that screw 😆

Sorry to hear that. I have a 400 coming in the mail on Monday. Wondering if I should send it back? Any update since your post?

I received a free return label for warranty service. I’m hoping that it was a lemon and it won’t happen again, but I don’t have high hopes. I’m planning to keep the reel for now.

What's the difference between the tern and the tern 2. I have a Tern 300 and a 400. I have casted with them. No fish yet. They seem great to me . Was there a reason they developed the Tern 2 so fast?

From what I’ve read, it’s smoother (And it really does feel smoother) and has higher drag. Also better casting control. The service rep said it was a manufacturing problem where loctite wasn’t applied. They are shipping it back soon after applying loctite. Tight lines!
