Accusize quick change tool post install on an ENCO 1340

Bought an Accusize quick change tool post from amazon. I had to modify the T-Nut to get it to mount to the ENCO 1340 lathe.

Thanks for a great video, but how did you remove the threaded part below the old tool post (in the slot) - the part that makes it possible to attach the old tool post to the cross slide. Also, how did you remove the little indexing piece that fits in the hole on the top of the compound slide recess next to the rebate / slot? See the underside of the old tool post that accommodates what I am querying. A video showing this important process would be very useful. My Chinese TurnMaster 13x 40 has the same problem. Thank you.

I dont remember exactly, i think there are some setscrews that hold the old tnut in place. As for the index pin, you need to disassemble tje compound slide to get it out.

I enjoyed your video. Having had your tool post for a while now do you like it. Does it seem rigid. Any input would be helpful. I’m looking at this same tool post and was wondering if it’s a good one. The Aloris is great but no more than I use my lathe it’s hard to justify. Thanks.

So far I have been super happy with it. Its very rigid and after doi g the initial tool center adjustment its been on point.

Hey Jim, check out woodscreek workshop. He has the same tool post and shows how to get the slop out of it in a video. I'm installing one of these now. ;-)

Does your lathe have the plastic cover on the cross slide? My 510-2585 does and I can't figure out why. I just got the lathe and the cross slide is a little rough when cranked all the way out (ie., toward the operator). I took that cover over and slid the cross slide drive gear (it's just held in place with a set screw) off the apron drive gear and cranked the cross slide in with the handle. It was super smooth. The auto feed seems to work fine, no weird sounds or anything. Just seems jerky when cranked by hand. Any ideas?

Did the tool post come with that t nut? The one I bought just came with a solid block

Mine came with a solid block and I had to machine it to fit my lathe.
