I'm glad you did another review on these. I love Ace, but I keep switching back to Thunder. Another great new designed truck is the new Destructos Team Lights. They have a really low kingpin clearance and the hanger looks pretty like Ace hangers and grind like butter also. Whats great about the Destructos is they set a hair back than ace. Kinda between ace and indy so you get the sharp turn with these as well. I wish to see a review on the Destructo team lights at some time. Thanks for the vids Ben.

like what you said: I love the way the alloy grinds. Although the 55s will jacknife if you're not careful when you're going at speed if you ride them super loose. lose trucks save lives but they may also break your collar bone. If the wheelbase was slightly longer or the same as an indy with that indy pop I love, they would be perfect for me. but, oh well.

Ace’s really are incredibly squirrelly and I can see how they might not be for everyone. I personally ride a set of 33’s with the red baseplate and they feel great! The metal is slick but the kingpin clearance isn’t the greatest. Love having that sharp turn so it’s an okay trade-off.

To all you ACE lovers out there: If you skate an 8.5” deck and can’t decide between getting 44’s (8.375”) or 55’s (9.0”) I’d highly suggest the 44’s. The trick is putting 3 or 4 washers on the inside between the hangar and the bearing and no washer between the axle nut and other bearing. By doing this you make your wheels stick out to the SAME EXACT WIDTH as any 8.5” truck like Indy & Thunder 149’s. This was a true life saver for me to be able to skate Aces on an 8.5” deck. Ace for life! Try it out & thank me later! 😂

Been skating aces, the same pair, for about two years. It did take along time to wear in but they are a solid investment. My only gripe is the pivot cup wearing out and allowing the hangar to wobble from the pivot point before even breaking them in properly. Not that big a deal, I actually told the guys at ace about it and they sent me replacement cups. The pinch is critical to mention, I did not realise that particular difference and should be noted when picking up a new set of trucks for sure. Thanks for the info!

Hey Ben, LOVE your vids. Got a wheelbase question for ya. In one of your videos you said Thunder axles are .25" further apart than Indys; in this video you say ACE axles are .25" closer than Indys. I recently measured my deck with Thunders 161s on and with Indy 159s on. I think they are exactly the same. Am I crazy? If you just push the trucks together and touch baseplates, the Thunders have longer baseplates on the kingpin side than Indys do which pushes the axles a little further apart. However when I mount them to my deck, the axle-to-axle measurement was the same at 18" (I ride a 14.75" wheelbase. Am I just doing a crappy job measuring? How did you actually get your ACE/Indy/Thunder axle-to-axle measurements? Could you post a video on that so we can see the differences? Thanks Ben!!!

@asmokanu4 жыл бұрын
Hey! I live in northern part of Russia, so ive experienced a lot of difference in trucks performance due to cold weather. I have Indy hollows with stocks red bushings - these work almost the same, even if its freezing outside. At the same time aftermarket Indy bushings become rock solid in cold. The same story for stock bushings in thunders - the stop turning in autumn and winter. To solve this i swapped them with venom street bushings - they work just fine.

Best trucks, my bushing felt great after an hour or so. I also believe if you can do a trick, you can do it on any set up. But it is a fact that ace turn and grind better than any trucks, look how many guys are riding them after being with indy for years. I've converted a few friends aswel, it's about time skateboarders start giving other things a chance and get out of their die hard brand loyalty craze

did your opinion change at all? im thinking of switching from indy to ace to try them out.
@SkatEBraiN3 жыл бұрын
@@terrFW nope, I've only grown fonder of them over the years. I'll never go back to indys of that I'm sure. please take the chance and try some, as I say I think skaters need to start branching out rather than just riding what the majority tell them to when it's facts that over the last few years indys have gotten so bad in quality.

I actually only skate transition. I have a few set up dependings on what bowl i'm skating, like for 5 ft bowl i'm gonna use 8.5 inch deck with ace, why? Because most of that size of bowl is tight and using ace it's easier to turn... For bowl like 8-9 ft i usually use indy and ace with 8.8-9 inch board... But for bowl qith square shape i found using krux is the best for me... So depending on wich bowl i skate, there's no perfect set up, but there's a best set up for one exact bowl

Came for the trucks stayed for the bench session. What are specs on that bench? Haha. I need to build a good bench.

I rolled around on a friend's deck with Aces and they seemed higher than standard Indys. I also noticed his bottom washers were cutting into his bottom bushings like they were too small or something. They definitely had a sharp turn. Not sure I would buy a pair. I like their team and the pilot theme though.

Its funny, I've always enjoyed riding aces with the bottom washer taken out. It gives a looser feel with slightly better handling in my own opinion

I had switched from Indy to ace and they were great but ground down super fast and as soon as I hit axle they had a pretty bad crack that bent them. I went back to Indy.
@stpbasss37734 жыл бұрын
Exactly what happened to.my Ace's literally exactly, when I wore the truck down I cracked on completely and the axles bent.

Yeah mine are almost to the axel but I'm in love with them should I switch to Indy's cuz I have a pair of 149s
