Best viewed at 60 fps.
Managed to locate where the SPW parameters are stored and decided to play with the MPBM's ones. By increasing its radius of damage as well damage per second and entity spawn distance (how close/far enemies and destroyable objects will spawn from the player), you can basically obliterate everything on the map you're playing, as you can see in the examples shown in the video.
Sadly (and as expected) when I tried to fire the MPBM towards the cluster of enemies in the AoA version of The Gauntlet the game crashed as soon it detonated, most likely caused by the game spawning thousand of particles for all enemies destroyed overwhelming the emulated PS2 memory.

reminds me of how the ADA-01A and its SDBM went unused in Ace Combat 5. Now we can see what it might have looked like! For those not in the loop, the SDBM was basically going to be "Sinfaxi burst missile but the player uses it" You would get only 2 per level. But since the Adler was cut from AC5, no SDBM.

Sadly it don't think that's the definitive amount. Not sure if the MPBM also destroyed the enemies that spawn and become visible when you are getting closer to them.

So is the V2 an actual weapon in the game? Or did you just make the MPBM's damage like the 32 bit integer limit and make its splash damage cover the entire map?

Whoa, if you've found where parameters are stored, have you found information about how homing works? Is it a single number that governs the "maneuverability" of each SpW type?

Yeah, you can manipulate a lot fo the parameters of the SPWs as well enemy behaviour and some other interesting stuff. I need to properly map everything since these parameters are spread all over the game's executable file (ELF).

Great stuff as always! About my question on the last video (Ace of Aces Gauntlet). Is the problem with using the MPBM the fact that all those plane corpses are on screen and have to load at the same time which overloads the emulator? I’m not very savvy with emulators and not sure how the parameters work.

Every time you fire a missile or destroy a target the game will create special effects such as explosions, smoke trails, debris, etc. These effects are made of many small particles and every one of these particles are small textures/bitmaps. When you do an action that that generates/triggers these special effects the game will load the textures/bitmaps related to them and will place them somewhere in the PS2's VRAM (the GPU basically). For example, when you fire the XLAAs/XMAAs at four targets the game will load and allocate somewhere in the VRAM the necessary particles for the smoke trails generated by the missile launched as well the explosion that will be created if it hits the target. Since you are firing 4 missiles at the same time, the amount of required data loaded will be multiplied by 4. The game can handle the particle load as long there are not that many enemies and the player is not shooting them all at the same time, but since the AoA has ~65 active targets and the MPBM will destroy them all at the same time, that means that the amount of particles to load will be multiplied by 65, enough to overwhelm the game's memory and making it crash due to being unable to allocate more particles since the VRAM is filled to the brim with the other particles that were loaded at the same moment the MPBM was detonated.

@@Regal_Two Not sure raelly. I think that kind of modification would require redesign the entire way a PS2 works at hardware level.
