Luffy knowing that Ace is Roger's son since he was a kid and not telling anybody is one of my favorite underrated scenes from this series. We get this groundbreaking reveal that threw the whole fanbase out of control and two episodes later we learn that Luffy already knew that in the most casual way.

oh, also - you HAVE met sakazuki, he just wasnt an admiral yet! every admiral gets a codename, his is akainu (red dog). aokiji is blue pheasant, kizaru is yellow monkey. akainu (real name sakazuki) was the one who bombed the evacuation ship with innocent people in robins flashback. remember, even aokiji was shocked when he saw it. so you can probably tell what kinda person he is.

20:08 if you remember, whitebeard told shanks that he had “personally” sent ace after blackbeard. But here we learn that he had actually tried to stop ace from going after him. It’s a nice little detail that gives us a small glimpse on whitebeard’s character.

My theory is that when Blackbeard had killed Thatch, Whitebeard had to have thought on why exactly now did Teach make the move. In the back of his mind he had to have known that something was off about it all, and sadly not stopping Ace entirely was an unfortunate compromise given the rule of killing comrades on the ship. Shanks trying to get him to stop Ace was unfortunately too late in the game and thus WB had to act accordingly to any fallout, even if it was the nuclear path of War.

Pissed Whitebeard is terrifying, ngl. The man *casually* slammed a *GIANT's* head to the ground, smashed it, and *threw* his body like it was nothing. There's a reason he's called the "Strongest Man". Garp's face when he sees Luffy dropping in will always kill me. Gotta love how they set the scene for how many absolute *monsters* are down there, too. So you know just what Luffy is dropping in the middle of.

Fun Fact: Luffy was Roger's son by default until Oda told his editor if he could change Ace to being Roger's son and his editor's jaw dropped to the floor as well when he heard the twist.

And here it is the Craziest twist Oda kept playing with Ace's father and family dynamic with Luffy ever since Enies Lobby lmao Garp told Luffy Dragon was his dad So we just assumed he was also Ace's Even Ivankov made the same assumption Meanwhile Ace and Garp had a conversation about his ''criminal'' father he hates😂so you just think oh that's Dragon Even Sengoku's reveal you'd think he's preparing the world to hear it's Dragon but nope It's the Legendary Pirate King Gold Roger!!!

Fun fact You met Akainu before but the anime didn't write his name, Akainu is the one who killed the people on the evacuation ship at ohara in Robin's flashback In the manga they have introduction title cards They wrote "vice admiral Sakazuki, later known as admiral Akainu"

Also Jinbei's old voice actor. He was the Voice of Heihachi from the Tekken Fighting game Series. Luckily they properly put Heihachi to rest in the Tekken series. Character had a proper death in Tekken 7.

I don't think I've seen a reactor very when seeing Luffy falling down from the sky. Most people get hyped and start screaming, but when i watched that scene i cried, there was something profound about the moment. I'm glad you also cried at that specific part too

The Battle of Marineford is epic, and worth all the tears it causes. Everyone gets into One Piece because it seems like a very upbeat fun anime which it is...but as cheerful as it gets, it hits HARD on the sad notes as well. Just like the sea, you ride at the top of the wave, or at the bottom. The story telling is just...fantastic. Oda is a fantastic writer.

The character's mentioning about "Ace/Luffy not being 'true' relatives" wasn't being said as a means of discounting things; it served two purposes: its spoken mostly to us as the audience as a narrative device so that *we* will clearly understand. Second purpose is that it was an expression of their own surprise at the information (much the same as a reflection of the expected reaction that we 'feel' the same way about it - which worked perfectly because it clearly affected everyone, including yourself, the way that it was intended to as well 😁 )

This arc is not long, but DAMN is it packed with character, story, and moments. Especially Oars Jr.! Such a sweet ancient giant man. The flames of Ace's kindness are so bright and inspirational! - Also, Garp really has to go through it. He loves his grandkids, Such rebellious little squirts. This roller coaster isn't over yet, things are just getting good. Marco kinda hot AF too NGL.

Girl, there's a professor reviewing the manga with her son on YT while he draws her favourites scenes, I highly recommend those analysis, especially from Marineford and the analysis about lidership, the role of each character and so on.
