Yeah I think Garp has a devil fruit for plot injection and growth, everything he associates with becomes relevant. He's had Coby and Helmeppo for like what a year now and they are almost vice admiral level just lacking combat exp. Imagine either in 20 years. Even just Dadan, the chick who took care of Ace (A highly wanted child worth alot of money, more the Robin probably.) is a former bandit chief who managed to not get caught or ended which is impressive.

Luffy always talks to people informally, either by using a nickname or saying their name with no honorifics, but when Luffy sees Mihawk, he addresses him by his title. That's how much of an impact that he left on him.

honestly, no matter how many times i read or watch these episodes, it just always strikes me how cute and sweet it is that ace has been telling everyone about his little brother luffy.....he is so so proud and it makes my heart ache. luffy is, as we know, the type of person to never tell anyone anything about his family bc in his mind, it just isnt relevant until it becomes relevant. but ace is obviously the type of person who wants to brag about his lil' bros achievements and talks about him a lot to people he cares about, even though to luffys face, he treats him like hes still a weak little kid. its so goddamn cute im dying inside

The relationships between characters is one of the things that I love the most in One Piece, and Ace and Luffy's is one of my favorites. I actually remember that what finally made OP my favorite series of all time was the scene where Luffy told Ace that he was his brother, and that no matter what, if it meant risking death, he'd save him. Marineford is a goated arc, and OP a goated series

I think Oda has said in one of his SBS (where he talks to readers who write to him) that Buggy has the potential to be as strong as Shanks. It's not a spoiler; time will tell if he ever gets the guts to really try. He wasn't an apprentice on Roger's ship for no reason :3

this stretch of episodes truly feels like all-out war. everybody's got an agenda, all that history and teamwork and backdoor deals...but it all amounts to chaos on the battlefield. any second, you can be completely blindsided by an attack that's collateral from a fight you weren't even involved in, or a switch-up you couldn't have predicted.
