great video mate, just quick question, i noticed you replaced the factory 8gb ram with the hyper x 8gb ram. is there much difference in speed with the different ram brand or just a preference you have?

There isn't much difference in speed. We just have that memory kit for testing purposes. The price difference between a normal kit and hyperX is rather small.

Unfortunately you cannot upgrade the GPU. There are workarounds like using the SSD pcie lanes to use an external GPU but that is for engineer level guys :).

I have an Aspire 5, i-5/Iris Graphics. It came with 4 GB soldered and 4 GB RAM in the only available slot. I upgraded from 8 GB to 12 GB (4/8) and again to 20 GB (4/16). I also added a SATA SSD. Now I have a new M2 NVME drive to replace the original. This laptop is great for upgrading. It is light weight and very portable. But it does most everything you might want to do. (Even in two languages) Got is for less than $500. (US)

I don't have the sata caddy in my acer. How can i insert a sata ssd without that caddy? Or where can i buy it?

@@Notebcom i've Acer Aspire 5 A515 A52. Every piece inside is placed the same as this video (i know these are different models), the only different thing is that in mine the ssd bracket is not included. I can buy a sata port&cable but the real missing part is the caddy

@@iamfivestars if they are 2.5" that means they are the same size. You can use an SSD (only SSD - no HDD) without the brackets but you nee to be sure it wont move too much inside the laptop. I would recommend you buy from ebay or alliexpress or a local retailer that sells used laptops a 2.5" bay.

Yes, it should be ok for these games and for studying. The laptop is not very good for intensive tasks and modern 3d gaming.

You can't upgrade the graphics card on most laptops nowadays. I think there are like 4-5 models in the world that can have their GPU upgraded.

In terms of RAM, I think 3200 Mhz is the max speed. But you can put in higher RAM speed, the system will automatically downclock to the system's max speed.

Hello brother, I have a similar one but with 8gb of ram, it has only one slot with a 4gb memory, I want to remove that memory and place a 16gb one so that it adds up to 20gb, is it possible ?, and what is the memory bus that I should to buy??

That's strange. Generally, the Acer aspire 5 had one soldered 8gb memory and one either used or free ram slot. Never seen one with 4+4. Of you have 4+4, then your max is 20 GB. I don't know what bus speed, that depends on the other memory. You can download hwinfo and check the speed of the current memory. Then buy one with the same or higher bus speed.

Hii just bought this laptop recently. However I'm seeing major drainage in battery whenever I use it (not into gaming). Can anyone please suggest recommendations to fix that?

hi, idk why u bought this. It's very basic in everything, you can't run any hard program. For example, if I open a video editor, that uses all its potential/ram. On the contrary, after 2 years using it, it's still running well. But I'd say even for a student, there are better options right now.

I had a choice of msi laptop or this aspire 5 i7 8gig. I chose msi for graphics card.. had it 2 days and it has problems. Turn on power.. blank screen. Force shutdown... searched the web... screen crashed.. force shutdown again. Might have to return it and get this apisre laptop. I know it may not handle as much games but thay i7 chip would be nice

@@johnw3794 Usually when the computer freezez randomly it is because of RAM (memory). You should try to reinstall windows, maybe it is just a bad install.

Yes we had only 1 slot to upgrade (occupied by 8GB RAM) and our unit had 16 GB RAM. So i guess it's soldered. There might be variants of these series that have 2x slots, ours didn't.

I have a doubt. For my laptop the rubber parts is peeling off. At 00:16 we can see the two rubber lines at bottom of the display (where aspire is printed 1:36) on either sides,which rises/Elevates the laptop for better air flow... But for my laptop it's pelling off... Could you tell me how to change it...?I searched but i couldn't find.. Please help me

Those rubber pads are not for thermal purposes, they are for lowering the impact force (under display) or protecting the surface of the laptop (back of the lid). The laptop takes air from the bottom and exhausts it in the back.

Depends on configuration. If it's only 8gb, it's not dual-channel ram.

I think any ram speed will work as long as it is 3200mhz or above. Generally, the laptop will downgrade the ram speed to whatever is compatible with it.

With its 53 WHr battery, the laptop lasted 7 hours. The machine was tested using both Firefox and Edge and yielded similar battery life results regardless of the browser.

Use the laptop while it's charging. Use the laptop plugged in all the time unless you need to move around. Some laptops have the option to limit maximum charge to 80%.

How is the fan noise with this? Does it get very loud? Hot? This will be a gift for my mom, she just uses facebook/insta/email and watches movies, but if the fan noise is loud even during those, could get annoying and end up returned lol.

The noise is not that bad, even when it spin near maximum speed. There is only one fan, and with the tasks that you've mentioned, it should not get too hot to spin the fans at maximum. It should be silent almost anytime she will use it.

Be good if you could do a video on replacing the keyboard cover and the lcd cover my daughter damaged all 3 covers in one go within 2 weeks, quote was $380 to send it interstate and back, only $80 for labour supposedly, but that's more than half of what I paid for it, most of the damage being on the harder to remove coverss , can't believe how cheap and flimsy the silver lcd cover/hinge cover is then the vent covers on the keyboard covers are weak as hell, damage occurred while it was in a protective bag as well, acer material complete crap, looks strong but far from it. Then to make matters worse they only make solid plastic shell covers for the A515-54 which won't fit a 56 about a cm out, and no one makes silicone covers one company make a universal one but seems like covid shut them down as they are unavailable world wide too.

If you already have 8GB, there will be some FPS improvement, usually around 10-15% higher.

@@mangija2375 Ah ok. Then this laptop should be ok for these types of games. However, I think getting the AMD Ryzen version will be better. Also, for best gaming experience, try to get it with 16GB of RAM. With 16GB of RAM the gaming experience will be way better.

mine didn't even boot up LOL probably a disfuctional laptop when i ordered it. lights on the side are on, no screen, holding power button doesn't turn it off, etc. just black screen nomatter what i do. i highly recommend NOT to buy this laptop
