Two of the three, small release tabs that hold the keyboard in place either got stuck inside the holes or they broke inside there. Am I able to access that area to repair or push them back through? Great video btw

Basically, you have to make some permutations with your components and test them individually as it where. I've had laptops not start cause of a faulty batter and bad chargers so your mileage may vary.

Yup, there's the BIOS issues that can be fixed easily with the Fn + Esc and a USB drive path .. but as you noted in the message, my HDD light is working so i know it's not the BIOS issues, it's something else .. something pretty common for this type of netbook, but less discussed.. hence my video :)

Hello, could this be the same issue I am having with my Acer Aspire One AO521? It does not power on but is receiving power via the AC port as the charging lite is on when plugged in. When I hit the power button, nothing happens, suggestions?

Hello. I am wondering if you can detatch the data cable from the LCD itself so i can buy a replacement cable on ebay. The computer is fine, but the screen changes colors when I move it back and fourth. Faulty cable. Anyways, if i can replace the ribbon cable itself, its an easy repair. If i have to replace the whole LCD because the cable is connected, that will be expensive. Please let me know.

Hi thx for the vid Im getting orange flashing lights then the stop. The charging light doesnt come on steady. The acer will run on the power thats left in the batter but when i plug in the plwer cable it doesnt charge. Can you please help???Thank-you

@spade1984 Hi, i have an Acer aspire one that wouldn't turn on. Pressing the power button does nothing, no lights on the button or anywhere. If i connect the power supply, the charging led turns on and changes to blue when full (so apparently its charging) but no fan sounds, no lights and no signs of life at all...i have not tried the BIOS recovery because there are no lights...tried without the charger and still nothing. Any suggestions? Thanks for the video :-)

I did the same thing you did because my netbook is doing the same thing. Now when I connect my charger to the computer and and press the power button the little green lights that turn on at the left side of the computer don't stay turned on like the one in the video. Is there something wrong?

I have a linux model and the battery says 100% charged but it will not boot without the power cable. It will also not boot without it and when you unplug the power it dies immediately. Yet the battery reports that it's 100% charged. Any ideas on that?

Well if you've striped it down to the motherboard (that means no hdd attached, flash drives, screen, wireless antennas, etc) try the following combinations: 1) with the motherboard bare, connect just the battery (which should be full for this test) and try to power it on. If it works, power it off, connect the charger and try again. If it work again.

That's indeed the common BIOS issue with Acer Ones .. this one is less common but still quite popular because of the poorly designed hinge mecanism.

I have one too and mine wouldn't power on.Take the battery out plug in power then replace battery worked for me

Hi everyone i had the very same problem with my acer aspire 4315 I tried all methods from the net nothing seemed to be working then I bought the non conductive cleaning spray for systems board I drop sum of the liquid on top of the push switch and pressed the push button repeatedly while I was doing that I have the battery on the base part of the laptop it just started running

I tried to sold with small heater and it explodes on my belly !

It can, you just need to buy a new power plug for your Acer (costs a few bucks) or ... in some cases you can fix your own power plug with the help of some needle nose pliers and some fine tuning.

As a final note ... if everything else fails and it still doesn't start (no blinking lights) then its a motherboard defect. But if that's the case, we'll go from there and i'll tell u then where u should look around.

You can replace it without worry, a new cable or used but working one will set you back maybe 20$ (I payed 13 euros for mine)

If you tried everything then yes, it is a motherboard issue. It might be either on the power supply path or the chipset itself is detached. You can trace the wires that go from the power plug to the battery terminals and from there to the first tranzistors and check (if you've got a multimeter) to see if they're not shorted out. If it's a chipset issue then it needs reballing and that is process you need some special tools. That means money and time. If u believe it's worth it go for it.
