Well... the harder they make it for you to repair it or the less you are able to repair like lack of tools or lack of knowledge less likely you are to repair it your self. Might take it back to acer them selves and for them to make more money off you trying to fix it. Ooor you just buy a new one.

Ca. 14:59 is where the keyboard itself is replaced. The rest of the video involves prep work to access the old keyboard or reattaching everything. Thank you for the video.

Thanks for the assist! I actually wound up trying to plug the Trac pad into the keyboard backlight slot, because I'm an idjit. I busted one of the pins off of the JBL1 and almost had a breakdown. Somehow, it still works, and job done.

If you've only got a few broken keys and such and your membranes are still good much easier just to pop the bad keys off if they're still there ensure that the membrane still works correctly, and if so you can just swap out the mechanism and key from another keyboard without having to disassemble it

ah man so far with my acer laptop I’ve been able to fix every issue and now I’m at the point where my WASD keys barely work and I have to hold it down to move thinking abt replacing the keyboard

I cleaned my keyboard with isopropyl alcohol, some of it went under the keys and now my keyboard backlight is only partially. How can I fix this do you have any suggestions? My keyboard is working fine, its just that the backlight is partially lit and not all the backlight under each key is lighting up.

Great video and a few quick questions 🙂 1. Did you do soldering when you put it back together again? 3. Did you use your phone to take pictures of those two wire positions? 4. How long did the entire project take? Can you do this in one day if you are inexperienced? 5. What program did you use on the USB stick to test the keys at the end? Thank you !! :-)

I did the job with great success but when I opened my Nitro 5 its looked different than yours must be a different model. I did everything right got the new keyboard in but I didnt connect the wifi card wires correctly so I will have to go back in and correct that. I also ordered the wrong model keyboard off Amazon first time around but then found the right one on ebay for $28. Works great 🙂

Hi, glad your repair was succesful! I'm also looking to replace my keayboard. I've never done any soldering before so i wanted to know if it was necessary to solder, and how difficult it would be for a newbie to do. I have a similar model, an Aspire vx15, and the wifi card cables are a nightmare in this laptop too, took well over half an hour to get them right after fixing the laptop hinge xD

@@angelq9863 Its not really soldering. The boards you have to remove to get to the keyboard is held in place by little plastic rivets. They have heads you have to remove with sharp knife. When you put everything together again you just have to poke the soldering iron into the holes and melt the plastic a bit to make it stick to the edges. Its not a big deal.

@@bloedkop5094 so did you re-use the plastic rivets? and what about the black tape? is it reuseable after we peeled it? or we need to use tape for stick it again? and what kind solder did you used?

I did use the plastic rivets, I melted them a little with the soldering iron. Black tape yes I just layed it back down, I just used a small soldering stick you buy for electronics. Just Google soldering for electronics, it doesn't really matter which kind I only used it to melt the plastic rivets a little so they stick back in place, only a little heat is needed. @@DrPort20

Hello I have a question, this model of nitro acer 5(AN515-51) has the same build and dimension with with the acer predator helios 300(2018)(PH315-51). Would their keyboard parts be compatible? Cause I'm thinking of buying the nitro part since it's cheaper

Its a soldering iron sir with flat tip and low heat so u can melt sa plastic frame lock

What did you do to have the keys set up throught the frame correctly. I just paid to have mine replaced but some of the keys are recessed now.

he made sure that it looked good when he placed it on the plastic rivets. then he melted the plastic rivets, that way the keyboard will stay in place

I'm having problems with my keyboard Whenever I power on the keyboard it turns on with the red LEDS but it turns off and turns back on and then turns off What can I do? (Update: this has been fixed, the problem was my ram I just switched both of them and it was back to normal. If this doesn't work either check the wiring for your keyboard or get it checked by a professional.)

I have a problem. I have this laptop and the power key won't work. Is there a way for me to press it without needing to replace the whole keyboard?

HI, I have just repaired the same laptop which had the same keyboard issue. Replacing the Power key itself doesn't work, so unfortunately, the whole keyboard has to be replaced. You can find Palm rest together with keyboard, but you won't buy it under 66 GBP, new.

You can take off the back cover and locate where the main black ribbon connection is, right under the battery. there are like 20 connections right there and if u take a screwdriver and short the 2 leftmost pins the laptop will start. From there u can just keep it always on with an external keyboard until you get a new laptop. F acer

Idk man. I got water damage on my keypad and its non responsive... i was like how hard can it be to repair it... dude... i have to strip down the whole computer just to get to the keypad.... i took it to a shop the guy said 200 bucks parts and labor. The part is like 20 to 50 bucks depending on where and how you get. Like damn it.

acer nitro keyboard so fragile,,, if no luck keyboard replacment in Acer is equivalent to engine overhaull,, so many parts to be removed to gain access
