Fifty years of gardening, for me, springtime is the time of joy, summer is the time of hard work and frustration, autumn is the sime of sinking feelings, fruitful, restful after the summer rush, but sad, winter is the time of numb, stubborn survival. Springtime I thrive, winter I survive. We are now entering the most glorious time of year.

Lovely, chartreuse spring green. A half mile of our out in the country road is arched over with 50 feet tall trees and the thin springtime, translucent green leaves create a gorgeous green "haze" in the air under them, then summer comes, the leaves go opaque and dark shadows deepen. But your green is soul meltingly beautiful and so ephemeral as summer quickly arrives. 2:05 Yes, like green glass in a cathedral window. I love irises for the same reason, when sun shines through the petals, they look like stained glass, amazing that anything could be so beautiful. 2:29 From a very young age, when springtime arrived, the mood was that of renewed hope, a euphoria and a sentimental thinking back of ancient history and the continuity of life. Many people in the world are in heart breaking circumstances, but we are blessed, we are in our garden paradises, which the entire world deserves but do not have. Life should be beautiful and productive, not sad and destructive. And to think that our ancestors knew nothing of this maple from Japan. Also, our distant ancestors knew nothing of the wonders of the New World, chocolate, corn maize, potatoes, tomatoes, vanilla, peppers, cactuses etc. etc. We live in a glorious age and I hope that we can remember, and appreciate with gratitude the wonderful plants and products that our distant ancestors knew nothing of. Thank you Darren for your show and tell, it evoked a lifetime of 63 years of contemplation.
