This achievement actually taught me how to play CK3 extremely efficiently which really made me appreciate the roleplaying aspect of the game. Didn't play the game like a map painter afterwards.

I got so close to this in an ironman game, and only once I had like 90% of Africa realised that you needed to start as a specific character, not just any Bori character.

This was my first grind achievement i did in CK3! Made a great new religion that was all female run and kept the family rule female only! That is the only true way to be the Mother of All imo- thou I did only have 23 years left when I achieved it....

Good to know the meta way, always nice to realise I made every wrong choice in my run. Also seek aid of the spirit best spice tenet in entire game, if you dont have it as african faith theres no point dont at me.

This was the only achievement (aside from Saga in Stone) I still hadn't completed. This guide helped a lot and managed to do this by 1185. One note though, try to have your son educated as Egyptian, not Mashriqi, then you have an African culture early. To do this you need to only expand a little to get within diplo range with Egypt, takes about 5 years maybe. Also changing your capital to Cairo is easier then, as its already your culture when you take over.

Got this achievement last week, over all it isnt that hard if you know how to reform the religion properly and manage to form the empire early, the first 30-40 years are the hardest of the entire run.

Got this achievement last night with an additional "challenge": my house head bugged out and had to play for 200+ years without an house head and without disinheriting my kids lmao (in the end i had 10k renown )

I ended up creating a custom empire which included all of the kingdoms of Kanem-Bornu and also a few other surrounding kingdoms like Sahara and Yorubland, which helped prevent partition getting me since aside from pusuit of power and righteous, I kept bori fairly close to it's historical version.

I gave my son to my husband -who converted him to mashriqui- but has no option to educate him. So I got him back Ambitious, Stubborn and Greedy, and during his (short) lifetime was stressed almost all the time. Then I decided to start over again. I took the option to educate him by myself, keeping the hausa culture. There are multiple pros and cons, but I preffer to do it that way for various reasons. 1- Controlling the culture gives you the option to be fascinated for those things that suit you best. You can choose what will be the next improvement. Slower than the other way? Yes, obviously. But at least you are in control from the very beginning. 2- So, you have to reach 70% of the innovations to become feudal. It will take more time staying as hausa, but that means that when you are able to convert to feudal you will have a lot more territories (tribal) that will automatically transform into castles. That saves you a lot of gold. 3- In my second run I was even more aggresive than the first one, so I divorced my husband once he helped me to take 4-5 counties. Then I married the guy with the hightest Learning and I focused on Daura, taking care of her. My goal was to reform faith in her lifetime. 4- I stayed aggresive, I conquered all the 3 holy sites needed for the reform and my exhusband territories (so Daura's rival wasn't a problem anymore). Pilgrimage, Theologic tree, and I managed to reform buri faith around her 50s. I must admit she died not even a year after reforming the faith, but I did it. Once you have played those first 20-30 years decently, with a bit of luck and knowing what to do, it doesn't matter if you have onagres, or a holy order, you are too big for all those little fishes. Yeah, I know my way is slower than yours, I know I lost a lot not speeding it up as much as I could. But I felt more in control, much safer playing my way. And we must admit that once your have Mendicant Preachers, Sanctioned False Convertions and Warmonger as tenets in your faith, the counties basically are converted by themselves... I was on that trip, to conquer and convert all Africa, but I wanted to have fun all along. Anyway, good video. Awesome speed run.

I definitely agree with switching to a different culture that's further along in technology, however I'm not sure Mashriqi is the best one. It's convenient, because your Husband is right there, but you can get other cultures by befriending or seducing courtiers of the culture you want and then inviting them to court. I found that it helped a lot to become the cultural head at some point, which requires you pick either a small culture or one that's likely to be conquered by another culture. On my run, I eventually became Italian, but I made the switch later on; of the cultures that are in diplomatic range to start I would say Armenian is the best bet.

Actually, u can get holy order as non Norse tribal. If u conquer a feudal holding as tribal, u can form a holy order despite not getting benefits from your feudal holdings.

I did it last week, got it in 1054 with Esotericism(not needed), Warmonger, Mendicant Preachers and Fundamentalist for speedy conversions. Waited to reform until after creating the empire saving some wars since you can peacefully vassalize like 20 counties if you're the same religion, only went feudal around 4years before the end. Also the mines around Mali help a lot as i got 40+ gold a month within 60 years (made mali the primary empire to stop me from losing the mines in a bad succession). I stayed the same culture the whole time as the achievement said you had to be african culture, thought about changing to egyptian but as i went for the mines first by the point i was in egypt i had pretty much won and just needed to wait for conversions. Also the whole family became witches very early on for me :)

I only used True Ruler once during my playthrough actually, to mop up a bunch of counties in western africa (Ghana splintered into tiny independent counts and dukes, surprisingly.) The main way I expanded was reforming to Pursuit of power, making my vassals more expansionist, and letting me also launch kingdom tier invasions. Tribal and Pursuit of Power also made creating titles FREE, so that saved me a lot of gold and let me build up my capital quickly (though I later took over egypt and converted it to hasuan.)

After taking central africa I went for east africa and up into egypt, using a holy war to clear everyone out and insert my own culture there, and then used that development to reform to feudal and boost hasuan's research speed. It was riskier and took longer but it was a bit less weird than being arabic the whole way through the africa achievement.

Hey OPB, have you thought of re-making this video to include the recent updates? I think the "by the sword" cultural tradition allowing for unlimited numbers of kingdom level holy wars would potentially make this a little less gruelling.

You actually can found a holy order before while tribal. While holding court you can get the option to fund a city even if you are tribal. You can also capture coptic lands to the east that already have cities built

What an interesting strategy

You can easily get a Holy Order without going Feudal. Take a Clan county that has a city built already. Once you have a county with a city & you fulfill the requirements for a HO,the decision pops-up. If you get Ghat you're in range to claim Mallorca. They're Iberian (Catalan) culture so Hybridize & get Visigothic Codes(Enact High Partition) no more succession troubles. Plus,they have a city

you can also romance dukes left and right for 750 prestige everytime while youre still count!

Now there are other ways to reform the faith of course..... I personally went with the really min-maxy triad of 1.Warmonger (You need the secular conquest CB, holy wars are useless fervor drain, the removal of offensive war pop opinion is also very helpful.) 2. Mendicant Preachers (Conversion speed stacking go brrrrrrrrr) and 3. Pentarchy/Ecclesiarchy (Having a massive boost to fervor helps keep conversions fast and heresy outbreaks rare to non-existent). I also went Fundamentalist, as you get piety from executing heretics or heathens even without human sacrifice, just a flat 50 tho, not scaling, also for the boost to conversion and ability to freely purge heretics and heathens. The increased heresy risk is minimal, I had only a single outbreak all run, and it was swiftly dealt with since you have free revocation against different faiths. Can't recall if I went headless or temporal, either way I ensured that there would be no uncontrolled Great Holy Wars to drain my fervor. This should be noted I also went female-dominated and didn't keep my son/culture flip, which ended up being useless RP as even when I landed my excess daughters/sisters/cousins, without fail they eventually all lost the dynasty from not doing matri-marriages on spare heirs despite female dominated. This was on an older patch of course, but after the tweak to make it doable in multiple sittings.

This makes me wonder how decisions like "Unite Africa" will be handled after the DLC came out. Cause for that you need to be of a specific culture group - here it's any African group. When I form a hybrid culture between my norse culture any the hausa culture, for example, would I then be able to take this decision as well?

Pffft I got Mother of Us All like a fortnight before this video came out, guess I'll watch through and compare our strategies :p

I already did it while staying a matriarcal dynasty. But at that this achievement and others were bugged ...

One trick I learned is that since there is equal gender inheritance you can always give your spouse titles which are really handy since if you've managed heirs properly you can always just get them back (most of them depending on spouse consort anyways) after the spouse dies. This was really useful for me as a cheese strat to deal with vassal rebellions. Also, I learned not to give your first character's child land, in my case he ended up converting back to Bori culture on his own.

When I click the option where he becomes my heir in the beginning it doesn’t bring him to my court and I can’t convert him can you help

This was my very first CK run ever. I messed up pretty bad doing this run when i choose for Bawo the son to do whatever he wants (thought i would be good rp...it was too good). He ended up almost inheriting all my land as his fathers dynasty and driving me to do unspeakable things to him. He would not fucking die. mother and son ended up hating each other and ruining my dynasties reputation horribly. Followed by 30 years of instability as my Heir tried to retake the throne from his siblings multiple times. Gods what a clusterfuck that was. Did finally form an empire but got scared of my neighbors super alliance so i stopped playing after that

You even can't imagine how it's more difficult on console. Imagine owning with first character all the South part of Africa when one of the vassals calls you for battle and takes your first title after you lose it. Do you have the same event on pc?

I tried to do this in my first playthrough of CK3. Almost succeeded but then I downloaded some mods and didn't know they automatically were checked on. Big mistake

you can create holy order as a tribal tho long as you have city to lease, which you would have once you conquer north africa!

I remained Hasua but I did poach men-at-arms from Mashriqi, and the surrounding african cultures. (Landing old commoner women of those cultures with no living relatives was a reliable way to do this.)

I selected the first option as you said, but my husband isn’t listed to educate the son.

I'm waiting for royal court to attempt this achievement. The new events and the court itself will probably make it a lot less boring.

The only Bori states you need to go to war with are Gobir at the beginning and Kanem in a subjugation war. If you're quick enough you can vassalize Kebbi before they form a duchy tiitle giving you enough land to create the kingdom of Hausaland. When you form a kingdom you can just vassalize the rest without wasting time fighting them. DON'T form the default empire. Conquer as many kingdoms as possible first and then create a custom empire. This will minimize the risk of your realm splitting and keep the holy sites inside your realm in case you want to reform the faith in future. In my run I created an empire with 13 kingdoms- Hausaland Kanem-Bornu Songhay Sao Sahara Borgu Igbo-Benue Yorubaland Darfur Anbiya Ghana Mali Gurma

ohh i just did this one~ snaked over to Mali set up in the two duchies with the gold formed a custom kingdom then started conquering reformed to focus on conversion speed and war got the achievement in about 1200 something. did spend a lifetime conquering Iberia and setting up republican rule there converting it to my culture to boost the innovation gain oh and I unlanded the pope in revenge for that crusade he called on me. Mali gold mines > papal tithe for buying mercenaries in case anyone was wondering

Interesting how there are so many different ways to do this... I did the achievement recently and found it enjoyable. RC DLC probably makes it easier with culture hybridization and the buffs granted by court artifacts/ high court grandeur. I did it with female preference, conquered most of the continent with conquest cb and reformed the religion rather late. I kept esotericism (mystic traits were great for opinion bonus and easy learning lifestyle xp) and ritual celebrations (combined with frequent festivities tradition it was perfect for piety gain, stress loss and opinion bonus), only swapping out adorcism for mendicant preachers. After reformation I used claimants and claim fabrication to mop up the rest of the continent. Used only a handful of holy wars to not put pressure on fervor. Not a single heresy outbreak and the only remotely scary opponent were sometimes the Abbasids. Finished around 1130 with a female-led, constantly partying unified Africa, the new Bori faith at 100% fervor and - as I granted most lands to my dynasty members - Daurama actually being the ancestor of pretty much all of Africa's nobility. Happy times.

I am so close to finish this achievement but I have just noticed it's no longer among the possible achievements section. Can it be due to the fact that I now am a part of house askiya and not daura?

I just recently finished this achievement myself a couple of days ago... It's not really a _difficult_ achievement. It's just tedious and annoying. It really highlights how the fun of a CK3 campaign does not last for as long as it takes to get this achievement. Do not recommend it. You can easily form Kanem Bornu in Daurama's lifetime with True Ruler - focus on forming Kingdoms and anyone else in the kingdom will fall over themselves to join you until you get to the border of Ethiopia. I saved the faith reform for my second generation. For Faith reforms I focused on Conversion - I kept Esotericism (Wise One is a fantastic trait to have), Mendicant Preachers, and Ecclesiarchy to keep fervor high. I didn't regret it, conquest was easy with Holy Wars (used judiciously for fervor reasons), De Jure wars, and claims from the "Buy Claims' perk in the Scholar tree (with all the extra Learning XP from Esotericism, easy to get on all my rulers). I did what I think is a much better strategy then becoming Mashriqi: Invaded the Kingdom of Eqypt when the Tulunids were weak (which they are fairly often), moved my capital to Cairo, and changed Culture to Egyptian. A much better capital and a much better culture, but still African.

Do i get Mother of us all achievement if i convert to a random African religion, not Bori?

Im still mad at Paradox. They said they wouldn't add any *weird* achivements. So i grinded myself thru every single one and fellt accomplished after i did the hardest one, wich is Mother Of Us All. And then they threw that design choice in the gargab and introducet the DLC achivements.... My poor 100% accomplishemnt :C

How did you get to enough piety to even reform?

Must you directly have to own a holy site or a vassal?

I tried the strategy of switching cultures and feudalizing early and the achievements hasn’t poped up for me. I have all my Vassals and counties in Africa converted to bori so I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. This could be a bug after the release of the royal court update but can someone confirm so I don’t feel like I just wasted a weeks worth of time for nothing. :(

I am very dumb. So relatively new to CK3 but not paradox. I tried to leisurely do this achievement and I really did not realize there was a time limit at like 1450 or something. So i was just conquering and not worrying about religion. I owned almost all of the middle east, all of africa and all of iberia. Time ran out and i have like 3 duchys that are not converted to my religion and they are so pissed I cant go back to a previous save far enough and still have time. I had a fun playthrough though so theres that.

when Durama dies, the decision to unite Africa disappears. does that pop back up once you conquer all of Africa?

I’m on the console version currently so it would differ, but my son Bawo is in my husbands court. So I have no say on his education. Little odd.

It took me 3 days to get this achievement. Horribly painful.

For one: you're going pretty fast, I have a hard time keeping track of your hints and tips while playing the game. Also, my son just fucking died, do I need to restart lol? Also also: how do I vassalize my husband? I can't seem to find the option.

idk, i did this achievement, it was fairly easy, it just took a long long time, its like an endurance achievement.

At the beginning of the game don’t create the kingdom of hausaland, usually either yorubaland, or kanem will form and you can just subjugate them and make a kingdom for free

I've done this one, it was an absolute pain, and I ABSOLUTELY abused the custom kingdom and empire creation, since the african kingdoms and empires are so bad by default.

I disagree, the island achievement was a lot harder. I 've got the mother of us all without any cheesy tatics in like, the third or fourth run. While the island one I needed at least the triple of this.

If you make yourself the religious leader you can call great holy wars yourself which is amazing in the late game,so you don't have to declare wars on abunch of small counties and if you don't reform the faith before making Kanem-Bornu you can vassalize all of the those Bori counts which saves lots of time and effort.

Its easy you just need to form the empire and reform the religion from that point just make max martial rulers and war monger
