Not knowing Osha and Mae’s age makes me question what show you’re watching. They clearly said the fire was 16 years ago about a million times and they said Osha was old at age 8 when she started her training. Who knew this was an Easter egg?

Yes, and Manny Jacinto is 38 - so there is a 14 year age difference between him and the twin sisters. That’s old enough for him getting kicked out of the Jedi temple before Osha arrived there. Ahsoka didn’t know Grogu either, while they were both training at the same time on Coruscant.

Credit needs to go to “The Stranger’s” ability to adapt to seduce others to the dark side. Mae was seduced by a masked man who went to great lengths to hide his identity. While with Osha he was naked in front of her the first day. Just shows how is isn’t a one trick pony to seduce others to the dark side.

One of the few times I find myself disagreeing with Colton. I really thought the physical seduction elements really worked well to reinforce what Qimir was saying to Osha. I think the complaint is that when the original series came out, they could get away with that. Nowadays, it would be seen as tasteless, unnecessary, and demeaning since it doesn't seem necessary to the plot (although the script to this show is all over the place). So the director chose to replicate the same mistake in modern times by objectifying someone.

I don't see any seduction or coercion here. The guy murdered half a dozen people in front of her and then told her why. Osha is an adult and is making a conscious decision. The idea that Osha wants a family or some kind of belonging doesn’t fit with her words. She says she wants a life of her own, not a new family. She seemed fine with the life she was living at the beginning of the show, in which she did a job and kept her days off private. I'm enjoying this show

you’re allowed to be critical with the media you watch even if it’s not over yet. Let’s put it music terms. You’re listening to a song but then the singer rhymes the same word 3 times and mumbles, you might be like “wtf is he saying, and why’s it so lazily written.” You might even turn the song off if it’s bad enough. You can say what you think is wrong with what you enjoy instead of “oh well it’s alright, but I’m waiting to see until it’s done.” Go for it, wait for the end, but don’t hold your tongue on what you don’t like while it’s still releasing

The desperate "I'm not a prude" excuses reveal a LOT. This is the crowd that insists any "seduction" that doesn't pander to THEM is "unacceptable", "bad" and "poorly executed". AKA; bewbies in a steel bikini is GOOD "seduction" (it's actually disgusting sexual exploitation and denial of agency that they LOVE and DEMAND both in the story AND in the filmmaking) because it panders to their "tendencies" as they self-insert... ...but ew, strong nekkid man swimming? Jeez, Coulton. Rip on anyone on the Internet saying that this series 'isn't Star Wars' (which I agree with you on) then proceed to go weird prude level and say the series 'isn't Star Wars'. The scene was new ground and ground that needs to be covered if Star Wars is to evolve, IMO. I can't say it was fantastic but it just was a seduction scene, which is totally sith. Again, weird prude stuff, sir. The current timeline is 16 years after the massacre, so the twins are mid 20's and these are clearly adults in an adult scene. Not consensual because there was a kidnapping but...Sith! Sexuality is great, and the more the merrier in Star Wars and outside of that galaxy. That's all. Appreciate your opinions, whether I agree or not.

I thought this episode was way better than Bridgerton and I love the little nod to smutty novels in the one more women centric show from the star wars universe. Its Also nice seeing a male asian lead that’s allowed to be sexy/ desirable (ok there’s Lan in the wheel of time show too). Usually asian men are assigned rolls where they’re the dorky side kick and almost never the heart throb.

@@jasenbertrand That last part isn't in the series. That is knowledge from the books. The vast majority of the audience haven't ready any of the HR novels so they won't know that. Look I don't think it is a bad theory; just not set up well in the series if it turns out that way. It really would have taken only a few conversational lines, perhaps when they found Jekki's body, about the difficulty for a master to lose a padawan. They probably should have had that conversation anyways to make Sol's sudden unawareness towards Mae more obvious and understandable for the audience. I don't think a lot of the critics, including some of the people who made this video, understand that Sol just watched one of HIS kids die brutally, and only the coldest of Jedi is going to be in their right mind immediately afterward.

Episode 4. When Sol Vanestra to go she says “I fear Mae is only a small part of her masters plan. A plan that is difficult to see. (Stops making eye contact) Some sort of shift. Something to tip the scales.” This is what leads me to believe that earth plagues will be introduced. In the novel tenabrus had multiple acolytes. I hope that is what this show is building towards.

This show is not JUST about the Jedi’s hubris (this theme has been beaten to death) but more about the fluidity of morality and the force. The Jedi try to restrict how the force is used and understood. They force Jedi to be emotionless robots and not have attachments instead of teaching them how not to be subservient to their emotions and letting them control all of their decisions. And above all else, they want a monopoly on the force itself instead of seeing it as something open to everyone and their respective interpretations.

I actually liked the parallel scenes cutting between Osha & Qimir and Mae and Sol. It's a common dramatic device used in many movies and TV series. An infamous example is the baptism scene of the Godfather, cutting between the pureness of a newborn being baptized and brought into the society of god, goodness and the church (we're talking ideals here), and the evil of (admittedly bad and fallen) people being cut down in cold blood. Of course that was all action while this was all dramatic exposition and mostly talk. But it still works, because in one of the narrative arcs a light side force user is trying to bring another force user who fell to the dark side back to the light side, while in the other arc a dark side force user is trying to bring a former Jedi to the dark side. It reminds of another time that SW did this, towards the end of TROTS, when a dying Padme is bringing new life into the world while the formerly good Anakin is transformed into the evil Darth Vader that we know best. It wasn't just talk. Something important was going on here that went on to figure importantly in the overall SW story, and we were able to witness it. Does Mae cross over to the light side? Does Osha fall to the dark side? What happens to Qimir, Sol, Vernestra and the Jedi? And how does this all lead to the reality and events of TPM?

I think people read the scene with Qimir wrong. It wasn't sexual tension at all. He's just behaving so opposite of the jedi and he has made himself look completely vulnerable in that moment. Osha is trying to figure out what's going on. He even blatantly makes a comment about Jecki (who Osha did have a chemistry type moment with) and how their relationship would never be anything more because of the Jedi beliefs. That's how i perceived that whole exchange at least. The join me comment seemed me like a joke than suggestive.

We, as Star Wars fans, never held the Jedi accountable for their own destruction. We glorify them when they were actually indirectly responsible for the Empire. Imagine a Fire Chief who's own Firehouse burns to the ground. Would we as a society just pat this guy on the back saying good job? or grill him relentlessly on why his own fire department was not up to fire code. As a show, I was excited to see the beginning of maybe some Jedi who were Sith deniers, or playing the politic game too much. I am curious where they may take Vernestra's character. But hesitant that they break lore too much.

I don't think Vernestra is a Sith, but I do think that her intense secretiveness is going to be the downfall of the Jedi as an independent entity within the Republic. I also think she has secrets from before. I think she is quite aware that the Sith are still present and in hiding, and that she has kept that a secret for "The good of the Order". And I suspect she is personally familiar with either Qimir or Qimir's own master. I also wouldn't be surprised if she possesses a prophecy that indicates that exposure of the Jedis' dirty secrets will lead to their downfall, and her reaction has been to hold those secrets more closely.
