The lasers are easy to operate and adjust beautifully. The micro-adjustment knob is a super nice feature and one that’s been long overdue with small lasers. A mode button allows you to choose between plumb and level lines, or both.
I found the laser line to be bright and crisp. The longest distance I tested the lasers, so far, was 45 feet. The M12 laser distance has a working range up to 125’ and the USB is 100’. Both lasers have a rated accuracy of +/- 1/8” @ 33ft.
Milwaukee Green Laser Runtime
• USB 3 point:15+ Hours
• USB Cross Line: 8+ Hours
• USB Cross & Points: 8+ Hours
• M12 Cross & Point: 15+ kitted w/ 3.0ah CP battery
• M12 360° 3 Plane: 15+ Hours- kitted w/ 4.0 XC battery
Price
Lasers aren’t cheap and Milwaukee is no exception.
1. M12 Green 360º 3-Plane Laser Kit - $599
2. M12 Green Cross Line & Plumb Points Laser Kit - $499 [Bare $399]
3. USB REDLITHIUM™ Line & Points Laser Kit - $349
4. USB REDLITHIUM™ Cross Line Laser Kit - $299
5. USB REDLITHIUM™ 3 Point Laser Kit - $249)
Milwaukee Green Laser Accessories
Milwaukee is offering three laser accessories for all their lasers. While sold separately, at least they had the foresight to create storage space for them in the plastic molded cases. I was disappointed that do not offer a tri-pod or other mounting pole accessory. I currently use a Bosch telescoping pole system and a small camera tripod.
The three accessories are:
1. Responsive Laser Alignment Target (48-35-1111) - $14.99
2. 360° Laser Bracket (48-35-1311) - $59.99
3. Track Clip (48-35-1313) - $24.99
The responsive laser target is complete with responsive centering alignment and high visibility illumination which easily directs users to the center of their target for the fastest, most visible alignment.
The 360º Laser Bracket features multi-plane rotational adjustment for adaptable placement overhead or on other vertical or horizontal surfaces. This allows you to set-up your laser on narrow material that is running horizontally and still maintains contact with all 4 magnets. Think ductwork, metal decking, or piping. It also can attach overhead and keep the laser upright so that it will still self-level. It also gives you a 3-inch u and down adjustment for dialing in the laser line.
The Track Clip is designed for a quick connection and secure hold on the wall angle and features rubber teeth and a low-profile head.
Why No Packet Case?
Currently the Milwaukee Green Lasers ship in red molded plastic cases. I’m disappointed that Milwaukee is not releasing these lasers in a PACKOUT. I’m sure they will in the future, but it seemed like a no-brainer to me to do it now.
Overall Thoughts on the Milwaukee Green Laser
The Milwaukee rechargeable green lasers are a great new addition to their tool line.
While the USB laser option is certainly a rechargeable solution you have to use a setup like a phone charger to do it. I prefer less charging cords and as a result, my favorite laser style was the M12 battery laser. This is because I don’t want to deal with flimsy, cheap charging cords, and charging blocks. I’d rather charge the battery charger that’s also charging my tools on the job.
We found the green laser lines to be super bright and crisp. They offer crisp, precise lines with high visibility for the professional user.
Robust, fast horizontal and vertical alignment of lines, easy to operate and precise self-leveling allow these lasers to be used both indoors and outdoors.
The bottom line, these Milwaukee Green Laser should give you years of reliable service.

Great review and video Bob. I think you touched base on everything we would like to know before purchasing. I recently bought the USB rechargeable green cross line and plumb point laser. Very nice kit that came with all the accessorises and now Milwaukee makes a tri-pod stand, which I purchased as well. Great product. You mentioned the perhaps flimsy cord and USB charging but since I have the Milwaukee radio, the battery and cord stay hidden in the top compartment while charging. I love the thought process behind all their tool line. Keep up the good reviews! Always nice to get feedback from a user before purchasing! Cheers

I appreciate this video. There’s a few tidbits that help even if Milwaukee probably won’t be my first purchase. I’m looking for something cheaper to make sure I can find enough uses before I justify laying out the bigger money. I don’t think the brand of the tripod matters a lick, they’re interchangeable and there’s a huge ecosystem of camera tripods available to pick from to match your exact needs and wants. I might even use one of my Manfrottos.

Those lasers are huge! I use my bosch 360° + cross line laser for doing shelves and cubbies in closets. With those bricks hanging off the wall, I'd hit them very often. BTW. Metal closet rod, taped to the wall, works great for being able to adjust the height rapidly with the bosch. If Milwaukee comes up with a USB 360° green laser, I'll be the first in line.

Do you see the three plane laser as a good do it all laser for interior and exterior work? I don’t see myself doing any really large projects outside but if I can use the same laser for both that means I won’t have to buy a rotary laser. Thoughts would be appreciated.

one thing that was not mentioned was the laser lock. The laser level lock the pendulum of the laser to the plumb and level of the unit. So if you have it on, the unit itself is not level/plumb by x degree that's within the auto level function, you flip the lock on, the laser will shift. it doesn't lock the laser to where it's currently projecting. I almost bought this unit today until i discover that issue.

Your reviews are spot on for people who make a living in the construction trades. Update: I watched this vid again to decide on M12 vs USB battery. Video helped my decide to purchase the M12 version as tool only, as I already had M12 batteries. Thanks again.

At the end of the video you make it sound like the usb-based models need a cord & charger to work; they do not. Regarding the tripod, I recommend you take a look at the FastCap LaserJam, or Third Hand and LaserMount. Height adjustments are simple with either one. For my once or twice a month need, the LaserJamb is too bulky to keep in my van full time, but the Third Hand easily stores with my other long/tall tools.

Do they work with a receiver as an accessory and if so how does that sit on a flat surface. I mainly fit kitchens or as you say remodel. I use a receive to place on the corner of the base cabinet and when I’m on the floor twisting the feet to adjust the receiver make an audible solid tone when I reach the lasers beam. For this to work the receiver needs a flat base.

Milwaukee needs to develop a (painters) tape that reacts to Laser light. Put short strips of tape around the room, turn on laser, tape reacts (photochemistry). Job done with Exact markings! Don't forget my percentage!
@mor4y
@mor4y 3 жыл бұрын
You can use glow-in-the-dark tape for that, 3M make a safety tape for inside stairwells that is super hard wearing, I've had a strip across the back of my phone for 2 years now, with no case, specifically for this purpose. Can pick out a red laser even in daylight. Thats Scottish daylight though, so maybe dawn/dusk for those of you in sunnier areas of the world! 🤣🤣🤣 Edit: on our dewalt 360° site laser with plumbstick unit 'strong' sunlight often washes out the plumbstick unit, no such problem with the tape, move the phone down slowly, and you can see the glowing lines appear across the tape, with ghosting to give you a idea of vertical rate of travel. Once we know where to aim for we can get the stick in and start shading it and wait for the beeps :)

@@billquillin1952 the 3m stuff keeps a ghosted line right across it for a short time even once the laser is turned off. Kinda like when you expose part of glow in the dark tape to a strong torch with the rest in normal light, then turn the lights off and one part would glow brighter than the rest, except its just a fine little line glowing :)

@@mor4y that's my point. It doesn't last.
@mor4y
@mor4y 3 жыл бұрын
@@billquillin1952 if you made a more permanent one you'd almost be making a photo-tape. Laser light wavelengths are present in normal daylight, so when you exposed the tape off the roll, the reaction would start. You'd get the same strong ghosted line across that tape where the high-intensity light hits it, but eventually that style of tape would end up fully exposed, and the line no longer visible. So both styles of tape would let you find the laser line easier, but you'd still end up making pencil marks with both of them! From modern all the way back to ancient 😁 I keep meaning to check StyroPyro's channel archives, or ask him a question, if a better product exists or is close to existing thanks to new tech, he'd know about it 😉 that guy lives and breathes lasers, and is a chemistry graduate, the perfect mix (for danger!)

Milwaukee needs to revise there 4v platforms. First of get rid of the micro USB. micro USB does have its uses but one of them is not to be reconnected over and over and over. That task should be given to usb-c. Either use usb-c connector or maybe even look into Apple lightning connector. There is some potential for a single cell battery plattform. But no brand seems to be even trying.

Milwaukee should make a charger that accepts M18 / M12 𝗮𝗻𝗱 the USB sizes all in one. Its missing little obvious details like those that make me question of companies are really paying attention or not because that should be a no brainer for them because it just makes sense, yet they haven't caught on yet 🤷🏻 I bet they could pair a dual USB sized battery charger with 1 M12 & 1 M18 in a reasonable sized charger no problem. Thanks God that not expensive like Hilti because being so expensive it doesn't do a very good job and I find it one my own skin , nearly 1000 sterling pounds for a laser with detector , which works in only One Direction and that means with the battery on a back of the light otherwise you cannot take 25 meters for it , or 82 feet and 1/4 like you are used to say .

Red lithium batteries to power a green lazer. How weird is that!
@edwardwhite8476

Why can't they make one comparable to a dewalt like under 100 that just goes straight up for laying out lights. That would be a laser that I would buy for my tools. If it is 2-3 hundo that would be more of a company tool and I would have to share meaning I would never see it again. So cheep self level straight up that's it nothing fancy

Too expensive. Period. I’m sure they’re great tools, but very low value. The margins in these must be absolutely HUGE. I just bought a Huepar 3-plane green laser for a small fraction of the price of one of these and so far I’m impressed. Time will tell if it lasts, but at that price I can replace it twice for the same investment, and it’s way less likely to get stolen than one of these precious Milwaukees.

Is the Hueper rechargeable? Never heard of them
@superspeeder
@superspeeder 3 жыл бұрын
It has a 2 cell Li-Ion battery that's rechargeable via USB-C, or the laser itself can be externally powered by USB-C. This means I can use my M12 batteries and the M12 heated jacket power supply with USB output to power it if I need longer run time than the included battery provides (up to 8 hours): www.amazon.com/Huepar-Self-leveling-Three-Plane-Leveling-Alignment/dp/B081YYWYBC/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=B03CG&qid=1604372879&sr=8-1 They offer a nice fine-adjustment bracket to go along with it as well: www.amazon.com/Huepar-Fine-tuning-Multifunctional-Adjustable-Adjustment/dp/B07WV9166N/ref=sr_1_38?dchild=1&keywords=huepar+laser&qid=1604373218&sr=8-38 Yes it's some Chinese brand I'd never heard of, but LOTS of people have tons of good things to say about them so for the price it's worth a shot. Let's face it, these Milwaukee lasers come from China too, they just have a familiar name printed on them and take (our beloved) M12 batteries. For the price difference I'm willing to get a little creative powering it should I need all-day run time.

Love the green and the micro adjuster BUT my manual park red laser was $60!!!!!!! As for the USB batteries(???) we've had rechargeable AA, AAA, Cs and Ds for decades. Two AA last for days. TIP 1: magnet on a metal third hand is a lot easier and FASTER than a tripod and floor to ceiling. TIP 2: drawing or snapping the line saves a lot on batteries especially if they cant even make it through a work day. I pity the fool who drops that $600 (+shipping and taxes) laser. Shame on Milwaukee.

Remember this is a job site tool, if you want it to survive mishaps and serve you for years you need the internal components to be protected by rigid casing. And for the price I'm sure you can get some cheaper ones but remember that almost always you get what you pay for.
