😎👍, no need for me to repeat the same sentiment. But it absolutely suits that period of learning guitar where you start using a strap and you’ve stopped looking at your finger placement every chord change. Great lesson

Fantastic video. I’ve been messing around for a few years so I wouldn’t call myself a beginner, but I suck at getting strum patterns right. Like you have no idea. How you broke it down for this song was perfect. I have horrible natural rhythm, but after hearing you play each through twice I instantly got it. Just a fantastic video man, great great work

Excellent tutorial on a fantastic acoustic guitar song. Great that you have included the strumming patterns and the bass lick. imho the lick is essential for the song but is missing in former online tutorials on Runaway Train. So this is an epic improvement of the guitar instruction!

Something that personally worked really well for me is playing all of you open chords with both your three "Strong" fingers and also playing without your index finger those same chords so when you add your index finger back in to play bar chords, you already have the muscle memory built up for several chords.

Hi Steve and thank u so much for your kind words - really appreciated! So glad that u like my lessons and congrats on the decision to learn guitar - it will bring u a lifetime of joy. The guitar I am using in this lesson is a Taylor GS5 - Im a big guy and this is a big guitar so its not right for everyone. You want to be sure to get a guitar that fits your hands and body and one that sounds best to your ears and fits in your budget. Get one with at least a solid top as they have so much better tone that the laminate top guitars. And for your first guitar a starter guitar that is not too expensive is nice to start and learn and find out what features u like as you can upgrade to a better guitar once you get some playing time under your fingers. @EpicGuitarInstruction
@EpicGuitarInstruction 9 жыл бұрын
Warren Miller Hi Warren - sure, no problem - that little bass lick in the song I transcribed for guitar - just play the third fret of low E string, (G-note), then hit that note again but this time without picking it again come down hard on the gift fret sounding that note - called a hammer on - then play 3rd fret low E string again and then open low E string and back to the C open chord for the next verse. Fun little lick to throw in there. Hope that helps. Stay tuned to this channel as I will be posting many more beginner song lessons to build your song catalog - plus lessons for other levels also - click the link for free lesson and eBook and keep up all that hard work on that guitar Warren. Question... on the last UP of each verse are all the strings open to transition to the next chord?? Or do you still play the chord on last UPs?
@EpicGuitarInstruction
@EpicGuitarInstruction Жыл бұрын
Hi Nick - great question. Often times when the changes need to happen quick you abandon the chord on the last strum as you transition to the next chord. Its a feel thing that you get the longer you play. Often when the chords are moving slower you have time to say on that last strum longer. But when moving faster you have to get to that next chord right on that one so you may have to leave the previous chord a tad early.
