@@marcusaurelius2988 thats why you concentrate first on the lowend and there you need mass in form of depth (30cm upwards) or resonators to save space. Its way easier to handle upper frequencies, the main goal is to select the correct place, amount & choice of Materials and have an balance between Absorption & Diffusion

@@Harald_Reindl i use two hard reflection deliberately to make it sound as if my speakers are inside this wall instead of crammed together because of space/furniture constrictions. its a very backwards version of invisible speakers.

Hey Paul , I ended up using futon mattresses for the corners of my room , I played around and made my own diffuser panels , I got a really good deal on the futon mattresses from a store that was closing. I have pretty much a 75 percent spot on sound room that I only now put about $1000.00 investment to achieve what is good for me , hid all the futon mattresses with homemade hanging tapestries, I then built isolation platforms for my 3 subs raising them off the floor 10 inches .

DAAD from Acustica Applicata (Italian) are great! Paul showed model 3. Just as Svanå Wings (Swedish) they adjust diffusion time wise for better effect. As they can be turned you can fine tune them better than diffusion panels and make the room sound larger and optimize DAAD to the room and placement.

i have an insulation layer in my floor, with thin wood tiling on top and a full room fluffy carpet. the acoustic dampening of that is great, though i have to add weight to my speakers as the floor is springy. my rooms ceiling has foam insulation tiles as well, which make for surprisingly good abfusers. plants in the corners and bookshelves look nice and help sound too. the main difficulty was removing an equidistant triangle between two brick walls and my window (caused standing waves): i fixed it by adding head cushions to the sofa beneath one wall and adding some nice extra curtains to my window. this broke up the standing waves. i also have thick curtains in the rooms doors, so i can keep the sound inside and the doors from vibrating and reflecting. and its quite a cozy room. so invisible treatment is definetly possible.

Interesting how so many put so much emphasis and faith in aftermarket acoustic treatments. Especially when one of THE most important aspects of building a genuinely musical playback system is determining a superior location for a speaker to mate or acoustically couple with its associated room. Whether or not one employs aftermarket acoustic treatments or even builds a custom room, the final step is always to locate a superior (not just a reasonable) speaker position in its associated room to acheive not only the most musical bass but also the most overall balanced musical presentation. IOW, no matter what else one does/doesn't do to a room, the very last step is always to move the speakers to achieve a superior acoustic coupling with its associated room If that is true (and it is), then exactly how is one able to judge or measure the import of aftermarket acoustic treatments if the speakers have moved after installing the aftermarket treatments? Hence, the following question remains unanswered... Could I have achieved similar or perhaps even better levels of musicality with fewer or even no aftermarket acoustic treatments if I simply spent more time focusing on a genuinely superior speaker location?

Mismatched components can have a negative affect. No matter how much room treatment is used. Amplifier’s and speakers can and do have different sound signatures independently of each other as well as other components used in a system. If you have one component doing one thing and another trying to do something else, you can wind up with a conflict battle. 😀

Like anything built to taste you create, then you end up changing things from you base starting point and tweak till you are happy . Obviously you have not explored this in anything you have tried to do . Anyone that says there listing room is perfect is a space cadet and just does not understand the laws of physics with sound . Top notch concert venues put 1000's of hours into the labor and uncontrolled amount of money invested in equipment, if you ever had a chance to go to Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles, you would never want to see a band perform anywhere else.

That was one of the first things I noticed when watching a concert on KZfaq from that old theater about 12 years ago was the acoustic’s. NHK Hall is owned by NHK Broadcasting Corporation in Tokyo. For many years that was the home of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. NHK now have a new Hall they built.

You obviously do not want a blissful sounding system that does not wear you down , or make you give up interest after a short while of listening. I own 36 speaker systems now and my Miller&Kreisel set up was fine with 2 subs until I got the twitch and bought a 3rd one for the rear of the room and it was a difference that made me wish I would have just boughten 3 at the beginning. Some of you people are just nitpicking and speaking out of not having a care or no exsperiance, or maybe. No money to get the honey , either way , opinions are like buttholes, keep them to yourself and think , learn , get a life , and I'm not going to shame no one about financial situations because I e Ben broke at time in my life and do not judge no one on there wealth , I judge people by there attitude and if they are ignorant in a fashion that points fingers at someone that uses there brain , people that are free thinkers are what I let in my life , so think outside the box and exsperiance life in a way that will make you a happy individual with no boundaries to reflect bad energy back at you from every angle that will eventually annoy you and make you crazy , just like controlling sound , it's a energy that makes or breaks your life exsperiance .
