One way in which Harry was ahead of the curve, is recognizing how good some of those 70s EMI records were. While RCA and Decca were on the decline, they were over in England producing some of the best sounding recordings of the decade.

Absolutely! This era of EMI is a treasure-trove of music and fine recordings. And the reissue of earlier Columbia/HMV recordings often sound very good indeed. Fortunately you can pick up many of those UK pressings for reasonable money. Here's something I am most curious about: given the upcoming DG Original Source reissues taken from 4-track masters (2 tracks being from the surround channels), I am wondering whether something similar could be done with the EMIs from the 70s, many of which were labelled as Stereo/Quadrophonic?

I first got into classical from "streaming" , and then all you guys on KZfaq (fellow vinylist)! My "classical" vinyl is growing, but it can grow faster!

Great video. We owe a debt of incredible gratitude to HP for the recognition and appreciation of what these vinyl pressings offered. Listening to the Mercurys and the Living Presence recording many of them done in the 70’s with 3 mikes carefully placed, is incredible. This will not ever be recreated in this scale again. Keep giving us those great reissues.

excellent overview of the HP list and a great way to document it for those who were too young to read TAS back in the day. Really nice coverage on some excellent sounding titles.

I remember when Harry started this list. I believe Scheherazade on the RCA shaded dog label what is the beginning of it all. I could be wrong but I sort of remember that.

A normal record can have an "audiophile" sound and an "audiophile" disc can sound lifeless. Kudos to Chad who is greatly responsible for the vinyl resurgence.

Chad, great video. I think I have 30% of the LPs you showed. It would be awesome if you could reissue "For Duke". I haven't been able to find a copy of the original for years.

Hi Chad, do you know if the Analogue Productions, Living stereo, and Decca lps that have been out of stock for a while, will ever be pressed again. I was waiting first to see if you were repressing them before looking at discogs. Thanks
