You have taught me so much today! More than 25 years ago we bought two three year old peach saplings and a friend said I needed to plant garlic around them. I used my store bought garlic and did that. Later I got some rose bushes and she said plant garlic between them. I did. To this day I still have lots of garlic that comes up every year in my two narrow strips of various flowers even as most of the rose bushes are gone and only one of the old peach trees is left. I've eaten lots of 'green garlic and picked lots of garlic flowers, but never knew until this year that they are garlic scapes. I also tried braiding some, and it was impossible. Now I know why. Thank you for sharing all of this with you. You bring me much joy.

I put in five hard hours of work this morning and before stopping and resting, I told my DH I was going to my flowers and water and pull a few weeds and also check our veggie garden containers. He said, come in and rest. I told him, being outside, even after having had a hard morning, it would calm me down and make me happy. That's what working outside in my flowers and veggies does for me, so I get it.

A little advice from an older mom... don't be afraid of the emotions you're going through right now. Take time to clear your thoughts and/or pray. Don't push yourself too much and enjoy your pregnancy because you will never forget it.

Happy Birthday Becky, a joyful day! I have a tip for you that helps me when cooking with garlic. I know that there can be probs with mould during storage but there is a way to keep some garlic frozen for when you run out and it saves having to prepare the cloves each time you need them. You might think this is a longwinded process but I promise that it does save time in the long run. Take any number of garlic heads you have or want to keep in the freezer. Separate the cloves and peel them. Put them all in your food processor with a little salt and blitz until they are wet crumbs or whatever texture you want. Once you have blitzed them place them in a large clear freezer bag. Lay the bag down on to a flat surface and close halfway. Gently use a rolling pin to flatten out the garlic mix, but keeping them about a half inch thickness. Then keeping the bag flat, use the back of a knife to gently create squares about an inch across. Place the bag on a flat tray in the freezer until fully frozen. They store in the freezer for a good six months or more. All you have to do then, when you need garlic, is to open the bag and break off the amount required for your recipe. Ive done this for over a year and it really does save time when cooking and you have garlic whenever you need it. Sounds a lot of work to do it but it really isn't I promise you will have no garlic wastage. Congrats on the news of your baby to both you and Josh. If I could give you one piece of advice Becky, is listen to your body and follow your instincts as to when you need to rest and be calm. It will help to obtain an inner balance throughout your pregnancy.

The first year I planted garlic 🧄 I had no idea what I was doing I bought 5 cloves at the grocery store just random garlics broke them apart and planted them and shockingly they grew I harvested in June and am still using those up… now that was money worth spending lol
