Acrylic pouring Medium: Fluid art
My home made pouring medium used for my usual work is a pre mix of 70% mont Marte clear craft glue and 30% warm water, if in the USA Elmer’s “glue all” works well.
I add my pouring medium to my paint slowly until I achieve the consistency of pouring cream, approximately 50/50 more pm if needed, not all paint brands go well with this pouring medium, so just test out.
paint brands mostly used are the Global impasto paints, Amsterdam paints, pebeo paints,also Mont marte studio acrylics, or pouring paints.
I Certainly explore different brands and mediums, it’s all part of the learning process.
Also iv started to add a tablespoon of floetrol to each paint cup and stir instead of silicone for cells.
Extra special cell and lace and bloom like creation is found with Amsterdam paints add Aussie floetrol until correct consistency required, then used in pour or used to swipe details, “Aussie slides” are easily created this method.
I’m not using silicone very often at all (2021)
If I add silicone this is what I do.
When iv mixed my paints I add 2-4 drops maximum of Helmar silicone, also Australian made, I stir in well.
I always like to mix up my paints and add silicone the day before I’m going to paint, and cover with a damp cloth, as I have found I have much better results.

After watching this, I went to a Dollar tree store because they have all kinds of glass vases in many different styles and shapes. So I got a few and will try to do my first vase pouring this week. I can't wait to try this. Love this I even want to try some pots for plants.

I love watching your videos Gilly. My art teacher at school told me I didn’t have an artistic bone in my body so I basically never pursued an art activities after I finished school. During lockdowns I have found your videos initially to calm me because I find watching art being created very therapeutic but I’ve now decided that at 43 I might try and find that creative bone my teacher said I didn’t possess. I know you’re in Australia but are you actually born and bred Australian? I only ask because to me, a Brit, you sound slightly Brummie. I love listening to you you’re so don’t to earth and funny. Thanks for sharing all you do x

I started acrylic pouring over a year ago, I never had any kind of artistic talent nor interest, but I decided to give it a shot, it's a lot of fun! It was as if a big light went on in my head and I realized, "hey I CAN make some pretty abstract art!" Go for it and enjoy!

Very beautiful Gilly 😍 I’ve been thinking for a while to pour over a drinking glass and have the same idea as you to put tea lights inside. Embellish it with some butterflies or pearls. How does that sound? Love both the vase and the hexagon painting you just painted ♥️😍♥️

I have done a bunch of vases & I also spray & wipe with alcohol. I also use the level in both directions. I have not ha a problem with the paint on the bottom, sometimes I'll take a stick & swipe the excess off, being careful to not get it muddy. I also wipe the lip off so there are no drips, just like on a canvas. So far I have used Envirotex Lit resin on all of them.

I have not used transparent glass paint in ages, but maybe you can try to use that type of paint? I know Amazon has them. One thing is I would try pouring it one color at a time but hey you like to experiment maybe they will take okay to being poured into a cup first, who knows it might be worth a try would love to see if it works lol

P.S. there is a video by Artful Niba on how to make your own transparent paints at home using both food coloring and tints and and acrylic binder hope this helps give you some ideas.

Looks like there was a couple of lumps in the paint, but we are seeing it really close. how bad is it really? and would You suggest running the paint thru a nylon stocking? do you usually do that ?

No the paint dried flat no lumps, iv not used a strainer ever 😆😆
