Thin coat acrylic render being applied on this bungalow that was sand and cement rendered and primed pervious the charcoal colour render being applied and finished with a plastic trowel called the refina paziflex also a plastic trowel / float from refina to finish leaving a nice colour coated textured finish on the acrylic render, some say this is the future of rendering and exterior plastering. During the video I show how apply and finish this silicone based thin coat render the do's and don'ts and more! #acrylic #render #siliconerender

Reached out to Mac Plastering regarding advice on plaster crazing (broken ice look only when wet) on my external nap finished house. My plasterer said no hollow sound and paint will cover it. However an alternative and probably a permanent solution to fix that is to apply a silicone render over it as this video shows. This video tutorial is definately helpful to plasterers out there. Thanks for all your advice.

Very good video! No posturing, just honest display of your working process. A couple of things, if I may suggest. At around 7min, when you finished the application and before commencing on rubbing it down with the plastic trowel, if you had applied another horizontal line underneath, you would have kept a wet edge better. Also, if you happen to wreck a whole wall very badly, say on a hot sunny day working alone, you leave it till the next day. Then do the whole wall again. There's no need to prime it. Silicone render has already become very popular. It's easy to apply, it goes thinly, it may be expensive, but overall not that much more than a monocouche, the latter is applied much thicker, so it takes more material. Silicone is better hydrophobic than other render. I've done silicon and monocouche side by side and you can clearly see the difference when it rains. All the best!

We use lots of this stuff here in Brisbane Australia. It's called Acrylic render and we put it over render, Blue Board ( F.C. sheeting) and polystyrene boards. Temps and sun make it dry very quick and nightmare in the sun. If you don't know Brisvagas it never goes below 20' c for 8 months of the year.

Do plenty of rendering mainly k rend scraped but when ever I have done thin coat, i have always had the top cost acrylic on more like a skim coat, your giving yourself more work by putting it on 0.5 of a mill as the air sets it off quicker, put it on 1.5mm level off and get the spat or steel speed skim over it, so hp12 base and mesh then a tight coat of hp12 over the top flattened and rubbed back to get it flat, coloured primer over the top of that preventing seeing any base coat throu the top coat and top coat as stated above but of that works for you keep to it, we all have our ways
@macplastering
@macplastering 2 жыл бұрын
rendering is hard work for sure I like my methods yes its hard to get on tight but you know your giving it a great chance to fully set need to be carful putting on to thin as heavy areas might not set in the centre, but yes if it works for you keep at it mate . dont you find putting on so thick you lose jobs due to the price of this gear being so expensive ? like i have seen it at 60 quid a bucket if it going on at less than 0.5 then im saving a lot that way compared to 1.5 thats a lot on big jobs your putting on 3 times the gear if that makes sense

We used to flat it up with the steel trowel in circular motion's when it 1st came out its finished very well but I have found that the plastic allows you t g at even quicker when you would be to heavy or to early with the steel trowel it would almost sit out in areas not loo as tidy or uniform when that happened we just laid more on then fell back but I do find this dont happen with the plastic hope this is useful info buddy

I have used both webber and k rend acrylic not much difference between the 2 ramboo tools also sell it and hear its a little nice to spread but never had a go on it myself, when you start a wall you can stop its a live joint that needs to be kept going otherwise it will tear as it starts to set and you try to apply more I find trying to scrap it on so tight while keeping the edges wet and finishing and coating pretty hard work others might find it better and have better ways than myself, I will possibly one day do my own house only a bungalow and will not be doing that alone , The cost of the gear if a mistake is to happen is worth asking for help and paying a mate to help coat
