@@YearOnACloud In my opinion 5G sucks, its not even reliable, it only gets to a few hundred meters while 2G can reach more than 20 miles, very useful when on camping or hiking somewhere where typical 4G,5G can't reach. Plus 5G is mostly needed by businesses like those who own trucks to real time interact with them. Also we are no way near a fully connected world which would take decades so I say that they should keep 2G

@@YearOnACloud Not to mention that 5G is still not as fast as they advertise it. It still slower than typical 4G in most places and drains, overheats phones due to its lack of infrastructure

The 5185i is CDMA, whereas the 5190 is GSM. GSM phone's have SIM card slots while CDMA phones do not.

What carrier and location do you intend to use the 8210? That's a 900/1800MHz phone, and as far as I know in America that's actually dead for 2G. 1900MHz is basically the only thing left on a T-Mobile network or compatible MVNO. You get your SIM from your carrier of course.

Hakemon Mike I’m in the US. Ohio specifically and I’m willing to using T-Mobile. I may eventually just use a land line once 2g phases out. Is the model you have your favorite?

@@theemissary4499 The 8210 won't work then on T-Mobile, only 1900MHz has active 2G service still. All others are mostly LTE with 3G on some frequencies. The model I use is actually the one I had through high school years ago when it was still new.

It must be a T-Mobile SIM, or a SIM from a carrier that uses T-Mobile like Mint Mobile. AT&T won't work and Verizon and Sprint don't operate 2G GSM networks

T-Mobile has started shutting it down. I am now on a smart phone as of August as I was forced off the Nokia.

No, don't bother at this point. I've been informed that 2G and 3G are being shut down by this January. This includes AT&T as well apparently due to how they share towers and stuff. In fact, my Nokia has now been discontinued over here, I had to buy a new Moto G Power smart phone because even the smartphone I had which is LTE, was no longer compatible because it didn't have VoLTE. So, by the end of this year, so much is changing, it's going to be LTE and 5G only.

V3xx has 3G, which is still supported by AT&T until February 2021

@@freesmileyfacesde1045 I commented this a year ago and since then, I've tried it out: no luck. AT&T may have been running their 3G bands till February 2021, but the activation date for them was cut off a long time ago

That is a older CDMA phone. I'm not sure if that device can be activated. I know the Sprint PCS Vision activation server has been terminated. Verizon had a similar network but I believe it has also been shutdown.

Depends on the model. Some phone's have multiple models of the same family and each have different radios.

800, 900 MHz, and it used the Widen network, that doesn't exist anymore.

Hakemon Mike I’m able to manually still use them till this day without an (activated SIM card . When (setting them up on 2way chirp radio only they do work about a good 1mile to 1/2 a mile . Probably good for small events . FYI

US mobile for example, just go for MNVO of T-mobile and you are set to go. There is no shutdown date for 2G for foreseable future. Now 2G network of T-mobile is busy keeping roaming alive between countries after 3G shutdown.

Even with LTE phones there's no guarantee you can make LTE calls only data connections due to how they activate VoLTE on other phones. Has something to do with certification of the phone itself. It's stilly and basically locks you onto their phones.

Wrong. 5110 and 5190's are not capable of auto time set. This protocol hadn't been established yet.
