Great question and I apologize for the delay. It's been a crazy year, but I'm back here now! So yes, the time frames for promotions are typically the same. You still have to complete the regular statutory time from one rank to the next before you can be looked at. O1 to O2 is 2 years, O2 to O3 is another 2 years. You can calculate another 4 years before you are in zone for O4. Again, it depends on your year group and your line number.

Pay is different in that as a Reserve Officer you get paid for one weekend. However, instead of only getting two days worth of base pay, you will get compensated as of you worked 4 days. You can find the military reserve pay hart everyone on the web.

I was told you need a PsyD in Psychology to be a psychologist in the Navy. Can you clarify?

Yes. The only openings we have for psychology is for clinical psychology. It requires you have a PHD or be working on a PHD on Clin Psych. However, depending on your experience, we could use your psychology degree to make you an Officer in many other fields.

It can be waived depending on how long ago it happened and how you're record has been from that point on.

Hello sir. Were you able attend dive school in the Navy reserves?? I am prior active duty sailor. CE2 in an NMCB. I am 33 credits away from a bachelor’s degree. What would criminal justice degree fall into place as an officer in the Navy reserves? Very respectfully.

Hey man. Thanks for your service and I'm hoping that you are killing it. The degree itself doesn't get you many options. What will get you the options is the experience you are getting in whatever job you have right now. Everything in the Navy Reserves is tied down to experience. Just have to look at the experience and then see where we cam place you!

Also, yes. There are some units in the Navy Reserves that will send you to dive school
