Screw the critics! Thiese are some great 12-bar Blues tips and hints and as a fan of the late Tony Joe White that was a nice nod yoiu gave as well. White's Polk Salad Annie and his Rainy Night in Georgia are all-time classics. Keep up the great teaching.

I love hearing theory behind these episodes. If people don't want to hear you talk about certain things, there is a 'skip ahead' option. But there are plenty of us who like hearing the thought process behind, in and around these lessons. Just keep doing what you're doing! Its so helpful.

What an awesome guitar (and playing)! Brian looks so comfortable and natural playing it, that it almost seems like an extension of his body. These stand-alone compositions are like musical gold. Time and time again I have heard even experienced guitar players do nothing but noodle and play riffs and licks in a vacuum when they pick up a guitar, (in a music store, in a social gathering or whatever), as opposed to playing a piece of music. I certainly have been guilty of it. For the listener, it's all about hearing a song with a nice melody and/or a groove they can get into or tap their foot to.

That guitar does sound wonderful! I have a 1928 2-17 all mahogany that my dad left to me when he past in 2008. He had the guitar since 1935 when his brother gave it to him for his 12th birthday. It's a very big sounding parlor guitar. Cool side story about this guitar, I took it to Martin back in '06 and showed it to Dick Boak (Martin's historian) and he showed me the original log for the year 1928 and looked up the serial number. As it turns out, this guitar was the 5th from the end of that days completed builds and it was noted that those last 5 guitars were 4 string tenor guitars and had shipped out as such in August of that year. Well, he was knocked out to see it had actually been built as a 2-17 and suggested that they most likely ran out of parts to complete these as tenors so they made parlors! It was very cool to see him write in the log that he had seen the guitar and testifies that it is and always was a 2-17! I dig the history of stuff like that. I think it gives instruments a little extra mojo. When stuff is as you say, loved on, I think it gives love back and ghats a big part of the sound. In my case that 2-17 makes me sound better then I actually am! Thanks for another great lesson and letting me share. Peace

I agree with @Jola F. You have the best lessons I've watched on KZfaq. Please ramble on all you want. Because there are bits of priceless musical knowledge within everything you talk about in your videos. I love that old Martin, by the way. Dang does it have a monster sound. For so small of a body, guitar. Its not only loud. But rings like a bell. I can tell. I bet a note or chord would ring for close to a minute. Should you want it to ring all the way out. I love it. I'm looking to get me an old vintage guitar to play as my main guitar for some time. Just never been able to find and afford one yet. But when I am able. I'll keep those old Martin's in mind.

Brian, I am a member of active melody (beginner) but I’m having problems reading some of the tablature notations. They seem very complex with pull offs, hammer ons, and so forth. Using my membership on Active Melody, I tried to get in-depth descriptions of some of the tablature notations but I can’t find everything. Is there a more in-depth lesson I can find? Thanks so very much. Bill…

The extra stuff is the real "guitar stuff" the real playing. I hope you leave them in. The base song is great and the extras cannot stand alone but I think they are the real knowledge here. I've been playing long enough that they are pretty straight forward but the extra stuff is what I like to learn here.

If your not a Premium member of this guys Active Melody lessons page...You should be. it's ridiculously affordable and what is inside is way cooler and has way more insight and information than what he puts on U Tube. The price (if you don't know) is amazingly affordable and it's for a year!!( I think it still is..LOL)...Go check it out...And you'll be thinking you should have done it a while back. It really is affordable. I think June will be a year for me and I'll be recommitting for as long as Brian and active melody is available..I've learned tons and am just now really starting to be able to play his styles (Which are wide ranging). And from being here...I can watch some of the other great players teaching on U tube and think.."Yeah..I know what he's doing now..This guys style of teaching is just unbelievably different and cool...Always a LOT of things that apply to so many situations... Wish I would have committed sooner...You are very generous with your talents Brian... Thank You. EZ (Sorry for the Rant)...LOL...

Constructive comment: The pace of your lessons has definitely increased, and you seem to do less recaps. As I've got better, I can keep up with you but am finding the 'science' bits distracting (during the lesson). How about a micro lesson after each main lesson gong into the science and showing where else it can be used? That being said, I love this tune and I'd pay the membership just to get 3 of these a year
