Brian this one is brilliant! I am so happy to be a subscriber for a couple years. Your courses gave me a foundation and this sort of stuff is icing on the cake. Best money spent in music for YEARS... Dive in folks the water is fine!

I feel like your talking to me when you say " know you see it ? " light bulb moments lol. I'm right at that level now where a lot of your lessons are exactly what I need to hear. Use to watch you years ago then I got to that stuck point with doing just scales and cowboy cords. Now I'm just seeing things in a whole new light with triads, playing cord tones etc. Can't thank you enough!

Ok, I'm digesting. This is quite a bit of information. Going to take me some honest study and noodle time to get it. Thank you so much.

I have a monthly subscription on your website. I have other subscriptions on other websites but yours is by far the best. I can't express enough how happy I am that I have subscribed for your lessons, I have learned in one week more than 10 years of blindly noodling.

I dunno. When you say E shape it actually looks like the C shape to me. Like the basic C chord we all know

Suggestion: go back and learn the CAGED system. It will all become clear to you. Really! It took me a couple years to fully internalize triads, but the payoff is worth every minute of it.

Love this video style for sure. What a beautiful guitar! The previous owner kept it absolutely pristine considering it's age and how many gigs it was used in. I do wipe my guitars down after plating and avoid wearing clothing that can damage the finish, but I can only hope that mine stay half as nice as that beauty after so much time. Is it everything you expected it to be?

Great explanation, this really opens the fretboard for me! One question, how is the root bote determined? I assumed it was the first/lowest note, so when a chord is inverted, how do you confirm what chord it truly is?
@kjguitarman2 күн бұрын
A concept explained clearly. Well done. One thing that would have been interesting to see is a 3D matrix of all the combinations of major scale notes played over each chord in the track. The 3rd dimension being the sound description of the two together, ie, “harmonious”, “dreamy”, “sad”, “tension”, “dissonance” would be examples of the sounds heard.

Oh btw, each one of those blocks of notes I mentioned is called a cage. (Purely coincidental) Over the years I forgotten which cage is cage 1 …. I think it’s the G cage. That is the cage where you place the most well-known pentatonic scale. FYI.

Thanks Brain, it was really eye opening and turned on a lightbulb for something I had been confused about visualizing triads across the fretboard.

When you change the chord quality minor/major wouldn't that change the key? I mean a minor key that is supposed to have i, iv, v chords minor, becomes something else wouldn't it? Then the term "key" would be meaningless wouldn't it?
